General safety instructions
DANGER!
Leakage of methanol fumes poses a fire hazard!
No smoking or open flames when replacing the EFOY fuel cartridge and do
not expose it to other ignition sources!
Protect EFOY fuel cartridges from temperatures exceeding 50°C / 122 °F.
WARNING!
In exceptional cases, the waste gases emitted by the device may contain
substances that are harmful to health!
Do not inhale waste gases directly for prolonged periods. Instead, use the
exhaust tube provided to route the waste gas into the open air.
WARNING!
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces of the air ducts!
Do not touch the air ducts, especially during direct solar radiation.
CAUTION!
Installation and maintenance has to be done by authorized personnel only
who are familiar with all valid safety rules and guarantee the adherence of
these rules.
CAUTION!
The internal components are not water-tight!
Ensure that no water, rain or snow can enter the EFOY ProEnergyBox, e.g.
during maintenance or when changing fuel cartridges.
CAUTION!
Impurities in methanol may cause irreversible damage to the device!
Original EFOY fuel cartridges contain methanol that has been approved by
SFC. Even slight impurities or foreign particles in commercially available
methanol may cause irreversible damage to the device, and may nullify the
warranty or guarantee.
Use only original EFOY fuel cartridges!
CAUTION!
Risk of injury due to falling / unexpected shutting of top cover.
When opened, the top cover is not fastened and can fall or close
unexpectedly when winds occur.
Protect yourself by fastening the top cover during installation / maintenance.

Safety instructions for methanol
There is no risk of you coming into contact with methanol provided that you
handle the device and fuel cartridges in accordance with the instructions.
WARNING!
Methanol is highly flammable!
You receive methanol in safe, tested EFOY fuel cartridges, which prevent the
contents from escaping if used correctly.
The storage and transport of methanol may be subject to statutory
regulations.

WARNING!
Methanol is toxic when inhaled, swallowed or allowed to come into contact
with the skin. Inhaling and swallowing methanol or allowing it to come into
contact with your skin carries a serious risk of irreversible damage.
Call a doctor immediately if you have direct physical contact with the
substance, in the event of an accident, or if you feel unwell, and show the
doctor the fuel cartridge label, the methanol safety data sheet or the user
manual.

1.3 Normal Operation
The EFOY ProEnergyBox may only be used in combination with 12 V batteries
installed in series or parallel that conform to the specifications of the EFOY
Pro Series fuel cells. The unit can be used according the specification for
stationary operations. Operate only with original-equipment EFOY fuel
cartridges.
Do not operate unit if housing is damaged.
For connecting solar panels to the EFOY ProEnergyBox please refer to the
solar charge controller user manual.
For detailed information to the EFOY Pro fuel cells please refer to the EFOY
Pro user manual.
The components in stand-alone systems do not have to be grounded – this is
not standard practice or may be prohibited by national regulations (e.g.: DIN
57100 Part 410: Prohibition of grounding protective low voltage circuits).
1.4 Transportation
Your new device was packaged to ensure that it reached you safely. All
materials used in the packaging are environmentally friendly and can be reused.
We recommend that you keep the packaging in case it is needed for further
use.
However, if you wish to dispose of the packaging, please help our planet by
disposing of it in an environmentally responsible way and in accordance with
the applicable local regulations.
Please note the instructions provided by SFC Energy AG when transporting the
device. For information on this, refer to our website or contact the EFOY
hotline. The contact details are provided in chapter 4.2 Service and
maintenance on page 17.
CAUTION!
Do not store, transport or install the mounted but disconnected EFOY Pro fuel
cell in the EFOY ProEnergyBox in temperatures below 0°C / 32°F
Ensure that no water can enter the EFOY ProEnergyBox, e.g. when changing
fuel cartridges.

3.1 Installation Space Requirements
CAUTION!
Installation and maintenance has to be done by authorized personnel only
who are familiar with all valid safety rules and guarantee the adherence of
these rules.
Do not operate unit if there is danger of explosion.
Unit is not watertight (protection class IP 44). Make sure that no water can
enter.
Try to avoid places of installation with direct solar radiation in warm
surrounding areas

Make sure when choosing an installation space of the EFOY
ProEnergyBox that the temperature ranges of the EFOY Pro fuel
cell and the EFOY Fuel Cartridges do comply.
CAUTION!
The unit requires air from the outside and generates off-heat that needs to be
conducted to the outside. Please take this into account when considering
possible locations.

3.2 Installing the battery at 12 V

Place the unit onto the mounting plate (1).
Put the mounting bar at the screws of the mounting
plate.
Move the mounting bar to the fuel cell and then to
the right hand side. Adjust the mounting bar in this
position with the two mounting nuts (2).

3.5 Connecting the Fuel Cartridge
Place a new sealed original-equipment EFOY fuel
cartridge in the foreseen space in the EFOY
ProEnergyBox.
Only remove the childproof cap when the new fuel
cartridge has been placed.
The M28 adapter is required to connect the M28
cartridge to the EFOY Pro.
Connect the EFOY Pro fuel cartridge connector (1)
with the M28 adapter (2).
Screw the M28 adapter (2) onto the M28 fuel
cartridge (3).
3.6 Connecting the EFOY Pro
Remove the cap from the exhaust port (1). Retain
the cap for storage or for possible returns.
Attach the isolated exhaust hose to the exhaust port
(1).
Connect the charge line CL4 to the unit (2).
Insert the data line DL2 into the left RJ45 socket on
the EFOY Pro marked „Remote Control“ (3).
The EFOY Pro fuel cell will start the automatic operation mode. For other
settings, please refer to the EFOY Pro user manual.
Check the Operating Panel OP2 for the initial configuration of the EFOY Pro fuel
cell.

3.7 Connecting loads
Please refer to chapter 2.3 Specifications on page 11 regarding
maximum discharge currents.
Contact pin assignment for load plug-in female (view onto
connector):
A: Battery voltage + (12 / 24 VDC)
B: Ground - (GND)
Please refer to the enclosed manual ASSEMBLY AND WIRING
INSTRUCTION for MS / CA-BAYONET from ITT CANNON for
wiring operations.
Connect loads that must not be deactivated by the solar charge controller deep
discharge protection, e.g. emergency lights or radio connection, directly to the
battery.
Loads with a higher current consumption than the device output can be directly
connected to the battery. However, the solar charge controller deep discharge
protection will no longer intervene. Loads connected in this manner must also
be separately fused.
3.8 Connecting solar module
Please refer to chapter 2.3 Specifications on page 11 regarding
maximum solar charge currents.

3.9 Installation check list

1) Open / Unlock EFOY ProEnergyBox
Battery connection

5) Only 24 V: Connect batteries in series with 24 V battery connection cable
The solar charge controller is now connected to the battery. If the connection
polarity is correct, the info LED illuminates green.

6) Insert the EFOY fuel cartridge(s) into the foreseen space
7) Insert and mount the EFOY Pro fuel cell onto the mounting plate
8) Connect the exhaust hose
9) Connect the operating panel OP2 via data line to the EFOY Pro
10) Connect the EFOY fuel cartridge to the fuel cartridge connector(s)
11) Connect the EFOY Pro fuel cell to the battery via the pre-installed charge line
connector
The EFOY Pro fuel cell is now connected to the battery. The info LED illuminates
green. Check the operating panel for initial configuration.
12) Switch the EFOY Pro fuel cell manually on via the operating panel OP2.
13) Connect the solar module. Ensure that the solar module is protected from incident
light.
14) Connect the load (deactivated) and switch it on
The EFOY ProEnergyBox is now ready for use, the load should be active.
15) Check the solar charge controller, the EFOY Pro fuel cell and the load for correct
operation.
16) Close and lock the EFOY ProEnergyBox
17) Make sure that the air in- and outlet and the exhaust hose is not blocked and the
inclination comply with the specifications.

CAUTION!
Switch off device before cleaning and unplug the battery connection cable.
The device is not watertight. Make sure that moisture cannot get inside.

4.3 Problems and Solution
Please refer to the solar charge controller manual for faults and remedies
regarding problems with the battery, load and solar connection. The LEDs at
the solar charge controllers indicate system states.
For faults at the EFOY Pro fuel cell the LEDs at the fuel cell and at the remote
control indicate a system error. The operating panel OP2 additionally shows a
detailed error message.
Please refer to the EFOY Pro fuel cell user manual for error messages.

you can not fix the error yourself.

GEFAHR!
Durch austretende Methanoldämpfe besteht Brandgefahr! Beim Wechseln
der EFOY-Tankpatrone nicht rauchen und sonstige Zündquellen fernhalten!
EFOY-Tankpatronen vor Temperaturen über 50°C schützen.
WARNUNG!
Die Abgase des Gerätes können in Ausnahmesituationen
gesundheitsschädliche Bestandteile enthalten!
Abgase nicht direkt oder dauerhaft einatmen, sondern durch den
mitgelieferten Abgasschlauch ins Freie führen.
WARNUNG!
Verbrennungsgefahr an den Oberflächen der Luftführung.
Berühren Sie die Luftführung nicht, besonders bei direkter
Sonneneinstrahlung.
VORSICHT!
Installation und Wartung darf nur von befugten Personen durchgeführt
werden, welche mit allen Sicherheitsregulierungen vertraut sind und deren
Einhaltung gewährleistet.
VORSICHT!
Die Komponenten sind nicht wasserdicht!
Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser, Regen oder Schnee in die EFOY Pro
EnergyBox eindringen kann, z.B. bei Wartung oder Tankpatronentausch.
VORSICHT!
Verunreinigungen im Methanol können das Gerät irreversibel schädigen!
Die Original EFOY-Tankpatronen enthalten Methanol, das von SFC
zugelassen worden ist. Bereits geringfügige Verunreinigungen oder fremde
Bestandteile in handelsüblichem Methanol können das Gerät irreversibel
schädigen und zum Verlust der Gewährleistung oder Garantie führen.
Verwenden Sie nur Original EFOY-Tankpatronen!
VORSICHT!
Verletzungsgefahr durch unerwartetes Zufallen des Deckels.
Der geöffnete Deckel wird nicht fixiert und kann durch unerwartete Winde
zufallen.
Schützen Sie sich durch Sicherung des Deckels bei Installation / Wartung.

keinem Zeitpunkt die Gefahr, dass Sie mit Methanol in Kontakt kommen.

Methanol ist leicht entzündlich!
Sie erhalten Methanol in sicheren, geprüften EFOY-Tankpatronen, die im
normalen bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch vor dem Austreten des Inhalts
schützen.
Die Lagerung und der Transport von Methanol können gesetzlichen
Regelungen unterliegen.

WARNUNG!
Methanol ist giftig beim Einatmen, Verschlucken und bei Berührung mit der

1.3 Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch
Die EFOY ProEnergyBox darf nur in Verbindung mit 12 V Blei-Akkumulatoren
(Batterien) verwendet werden, die den technischen Daten der EFOY Pro Geräte
entsprechen. Die EFOY ProEnergyBox kann im Rahmen der technischen Daten
stationär eingesetzt werden. Verwenden Sie nur Original EFOY-Tankpatronen.
Geräte mit defektem oder beschädigtem Gehäuse dürfen nicht betrieben
werden.
Bitte lesen Sie vor Installation und Anschluss von Solarmodulen über den
integrierten Laderegler die Bedienungsanleitung aufmerksam durch.
Lesen Sie bitte für detaillierte Informationen zur EFOY Pro Brennstoffzelle die
Bedienungsanleitung EFOY Pro durch.
In Inselanlagen ist eine Erdung der Komponenten nicht notwendig, nicht üblich
oder kann durch nationale Vorschriften untersagt sein (z. B. DIN 57100 Teil
410: Erdungsverbot von Schutzkleinspannungs-Stromkreisen).
1.4 Transport
Ihr neues Gerät wurde auf dem Weg zu Ihnen durch eine Verpackung
geschützt. Alle eingesetzten Materialien sind umweltverträglich und wieder
verwertbar.
Wir empfehlen, die Verpackung für eine eventuelle Winterlagerung
aufzubewahren.
Sollten Sie die Verpackung dennoch entsorgen wollen, helfen Sie bitte mit und
entsorgen Sie die Verpackung umweltgerecht entsprechend den örtlichen
Bestimmungen.

3.1 Wichtige Installationshinweise
Installation und Wartung darf nur von befugten Personen durchgeführt
werden, welche mit allen Sicherheitsregulierungen vertraut sind und
deren Einhaltung gewährleistet.
Das Gerät darf nicht in explosionsgefährdeter Umgebung eingesetzt
werden.
Das Gerät ist nicht wasserdicht (Schutzklasse IP 43). Achten Sie darauf,
dass kein Wasser eindringen kann.
Vermeiden Sie Einbauorte mit direkter Sonneneinstrahlung in warmen
Umgebungen

Achten Sie bei der Installation der EFOY ProEnergyBox
darauf, dass der zulässige Temperaturbereich im
Temperaturbereich der EFOY Pro Brennstoffzelle und
der EFOY Tankpatrone liegt.
Das Gerät benötigt Zuluft und erzeugt Abwärme, welche nach außen abgeführt werden muss. Bitte beachten Sie dies bei der Installation.

3.2 Installation der Batterie bei 12 V
Setzen Sie die Batterie ein
Fixieren Sie die Batterien mit den beiliegenden
Gurten.
Verbinden Sie die Klemmen mit der Batterie
Sollten mehr als eine Batterie angeschlossen
werden, verbinden Sie diese in Parallel um höhere
Kapazität zu erhalten.
3.3 Installation der Batterien bei 24 V
Setzen Sie die Batterien ein.
Fixieren Sie die Batterien mit den beiliegenden
Gurten.
Verbinden Sie die Klemmen mit den Batterien
Verbinden Sie die Batterien in Serie um die
Spannung auf 24 V zu setzen.
3.4 Installation der EFOY Pro

Stellen Sie das Gerät auf die Montageplatte (1).
Stecken Sie den Riegel auf die Stifte der
Montageplatte
Schieben Sie den Riegel ans Gerät und dann nach
rechts, um ihn zu verriegeln. Sichern Sie den Riegel
mit den beiden Muttern. (2).

3.5 Tankpatrone anschließen
Setzen Sie eine neue, volle, verschlossene Original
EFOY Tankpatrone ein.
Entfernen Sie die kindersichere Verschlusskappe
erst, wenn die neue Tankpatrone eingesetzt ist.
Die M28-Tankpatrone kann nur über den optionalen
M28-Adapter angeschlossen werden.
Schrauben Sie den Tankpatronenanschluss der
EFOY Pro (1) an den M28-Adapter (2).
Schrauben Sie den M28-Adapter (2) auf die M28-
Tankpatrone (3).
3.6 EFOY Pro anschließen
Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe von der
Abgasöffnung (1). Bewahren Sie diese für die
Lagerung oder mögliche Rücksendungen auf.
Stecken Sie den mitgelieferten Abgasschlauch auf
die Abgasöffnung (1).
Schließen Sie das Ladekabel CL4 an das Gerät an
(2).
Stecken Sie anschließend den Stecker des
Bedienpanels OP2 in die linke RJ45-Buchse
„Remote Control“ (3).
Die EFOY Pro Brennstoffzelle startet nach Anschluss automatisch. Bitte
entnehmen Sie der Bedienungsanleitung EFOY Pro Serie weitere Informationen
zu Einstellungen und Betrieb.
Prüfen Sie das Bedienpanel OP2 für die Initialkonfiguration der EFOY Pro
Brennstoffzelle.

für die Verdrahtung.
Verbraucher, die nicht durch den Tiefentladeschutz des Solarladereglers
abgeschaltet werden dürfen, z. B. Notlicht oder Funkverbindung, müssen
direkt an die Batterie angeschlossen werden.
Verbraucher mit einer Stromaufnahme, die größer als der Stromausgang ist,
können direkt an die Batterie angeschlossen werden. Allerdings greift in
diesem Fall der Tiefentladeschutz des Solarladereglers nicht. Außerdem
müssen so angeschlossene Verbraucher separat abgesichert werden.

Beachten Sie Kapitel 2.3 Technische Daten auf Seite 29
bezüglich der maximalen Ladeströme der Solarmodule.

Erforderliche Handlung
1) Öffnen / Entriegeln Sie die EFOY ProEnergyBox
Anschluss Batterie
2) Setzen Sie die Batterie(n) ein
3) Befestigen Sie die Batterie(n) mit den Gurten an den Krampen
4) Schließen Sie die Batterieklemmen an die Batterieanschlüsse an

6) Setzen Sie die EFOY Tankpatrone(n) in den vorhergesehenen Platz
7) Setzen Sie die EFOY Pro Brennstoffelle ein und fixieren diese an der
Montageplatte
8) Stecken Sie den Abgasschlauch an die EFOY Pro.
9) Schließen Sie das Bedienpanel OP2 per Datenkabel an.
10) Schrauben Sie den Tankpatronenanschluss an die Tankpatrone
11) Schließen Sie die EFOY Pro per vorinstallierten Anschlussstecker an.
Die EFOY Pro Brennstoffzelle ist nun an die Batterie angeschlossen. Die Info-LED
leuchtet grün. Prüfen Sie das Bedienpanel OP2 für die Konfiguration der
Brennstoffzelle.
12) Schalten Sie die EFOY Pro Brennstoffzelle manuell über das Bedienpanel OP2
für einen Testlauf an.
13) Schließen Sie das Solarmodul an. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Solarmodul vor
Lichteinfall geschützt ist.
14) Schließen Sie den Verbraucher (deaktiviert) an und schalten Sie ihn ein.
Die EFOY ProEnergyBox ist nun einsatzbereit, der Verbraucher ist aktiv.
15) Überprüfen Sie den Solarladeregler, die EFOY Pro Brennstoffelle und den
Verbraucher bezüglich dem korrektem Betrieb.
16) Schließen und verriegeln Sie die EFOY ProEnergyBox
17) Versichern Sie sich dass die Zu- und Abluftführung sowie der Abgasschlauch
nicht blockiert sind und die Neigungswinkel der Spezifikation entsprechend
eingehalten werden.

4.1 Reinigung
Schalten Sie das Gerät vor der Reinigung aus und ziehen Sie das
Anschlusskabel von der Batterie ab.
Das Gerät ist nicht wasserdicht. Achten Sie darauf, dass keine Feuchtigkeit in
das Gerät eindringen kann.
4.2 Service
Installation und Wartung darf nur von befugten Personen durchgeführt
werden, welche mit allen Sicherheitsregulierungen vertraut sind und deren
Einhaltung gewährleistet.
Die Komponenten sind nicht wasserdicht!
Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser, Regen oder Schnee in die EFOY Pro
EnergyBox eindringen kann, z.B. bei Wartung oder Tankpatronentausch
GEFAHR!
Durch austretende Methanoldämpfe besteht Brandgefahr!
Beim Wechseln der EFOY-Tankpatrone nicht rauchen und sonstige
Zündquellen fernhalten!
EFOY-Tankpatronen vor Temperaturen über 50°C schützen.
Bei normalen Einsatzbedingungen ist das Gerät wartungsfrei.

Am Gerät und an der Fernbedienung leuchtet bei Störungen ein rotes bzw.
gelbes Licht auf. Die Fernbedienung gibt zusätzlich einen Hinweis zur Ursache
der Störung.
