Lesen Sie bitte vor der ersten Benutzung diese Bedienungsanleitung und beachten Sie die Installationshinweise.

2.2 Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise

Lesen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung vor der Inbetriebnahme und bewahren Sie die Bedienungsanleitung beim Gerät auf.

Befolgen Sie alle Hinweise in dieser Bedienungsanleitung.

Die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle darf nicht geöffnet werden. Die EFOY-Tankpatrone darf nicht gewaltsam geöffnet oder nachgefüllt

werden. Änderungen gefährden die Sicherheit und führen zum Verlust der

Betriebserlaubnis und dem Erlöschen der Gewährleistung und der Garantie.

Nur Original EFOY-Zubehör verwenden.

EFOY-Brennstoffzelle und EFOY-Tankpatronen nicht bei Temperaturen über 45°C lagern und nicht bei über 40°C betreiben.

Vor Hitze und Sonneneinstrahlung schützen. EFOY-Brennstoffzelle nur gemäß Installationsanweisung und in gut

belüfteter Umgebung betreiben.

Ausgeschaltete EFOY Brennstoffzelle frostfrei lagern oder die Frostschutz-Automatik verwenden.

EFOY-Tankpatronen unfallsicher befestigt werden.

VORSICHT!

Die Brennstoffzelle ist nicht wasserdicht! Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser eindringen kann.

2.3 Sicherheitshinweise Methanol

GEFAHR!

Durch austretende Methanoldämpfe besteht Brandgefahr! Beim Wechseln der EFOY-Tankpatrone nicht rauchen und sonstige

Zündquellen fernhalten! EFOY-Tankpatronen vor Temperaturen über 45°C schützen.

Methanol ist leicht entzündlich! Sie erhalten Methanol in sicheren, geprüften EFOY-Tankpatronen, die im

normalen bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch vor dem Austreten des Inhalts schützen.

Die Lagerung und der Transport von Methanol können gesetzlichen Regelungen unterliegen.

2.4 Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch

Die EFOY-Geräte der Firma SFC Energy AG sind automatische Ladegeräte für 12 V Blei-Akkumulatoren (Batterien). Beachten Sie folgendes:

• Die Geräte dürfen nur zum Laden von Blei-Akkumulatoren (Batterien)

verwendet werden, die den technischen Daten des Gerätes entsprechen (siehe Kapitel 6 “Technische Daten“ auf Seite 44).

• Die Geräte dürfen nur mit den Original EFOY-Tankpatronen betrieben

werden.

• Die Geräte sind nicht für den Einsatz als Notstromversorgung für

medizinische, lebensnotwendige und landwirtschaftliche Geräte vorgesehen.

• Geräte mit defektem oder beschädigtem Gehäuse dürfen nicht

betrieben werden.

• Die Geräte sind nicht für die gewerbliche Nutzung ausgelegt.

Konformitätserklärung

Die Firma SFC Energy AG, Eugen-Sänger-Ring 7, 85649 Brunnthal-Nord erklärt, dass die EFOY Comfort 80, EFOY Comfort 140 und EFOY Comfort 210 den Bestimmungen der EG-Richtlinie über die elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit 2004/108/EG entsprechen. Folgende harmonisierte Normen wurden angewandt:

Die Geräte wurden gemäß der ECE-Regelung Nr.10 auf elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit geprüft und für den Betrieb in Kraftfahrzeugen genehmigt.

Sicherheitshinweise

Die Geräte wurden auf freiwilliger Basis von der TÜV SÜD AG auf die Einhaltung der grundlegenden Anforderungen der IEC 62282-5 geprüft und mit dem Prüfzeichen für Produktsicherheit ausgezeichnet.

2.6 Garantie

Die Garantiezeit beginnt mit dem Neukauf des Gerätes. Diesen Zeitpunkt können Sie durch den Kaufbeleg nachweisen. Bewahren Sie diese Unterlagen bitte sorgfältig auf. Unsere Garantieleistung richtet sich nach den Garantiebedingungen der SFC Energy AG, die zum Zeitpunkt des Kaufes für das jeweilige Land gültig waren. Bitte beachten Sie die beiliegenden Garantiebedingungen.

2.7 Entsorgung

Verpackung

Ihr neues Gerät wurde auf dem Weg zu Ihnen durch eine Verpackung

geschützt. Alle eingesetzten Materialien sind umweltverträglich und wieder verwertbar.

Wir empfehlen, die Verpackung für eine eventuelle Winterlagerung aufzubewahren.

Sollten Sie die Verpackung dennoch entsorgen wollen, helfen Sie bitte mit und entsorgen Sie die Verpackung umweltgerecht entsprechend den örtlichen Bestimmungen.

Erstickungsgefahr durch Folien und Faltkarton! Verpackung und deren Teile nicht Kindern überlassen.

Tankpatronen

Vollständig entleerte Tankpatronen sind Kunststoffabfall. Tankpatronen mit Restinhalt sind wie Lösungsmittel oder Farbreste als Sonderabfall zu entsorgen.

Altgeräte sind kein wertloser Abfall! Durch umweltgerechte Entsorgung können wertvolle Rohstoffe wieder verwendet und die Umwelt geschont werden.

VORSICHT! Wurde die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle Temperaturen unter 1°C ohne

angeschlossene Batterie und ausreichend gefüllte EFOY-Tankpatrone (Frostschutz) ausgesetzt, muss sie vor Betrieb für ca. 24 Stunden bei Zimmertemperatur aufgetaut werden.

Betriebszustände

Startphase Die Brennstoffzelle durchläuft eine Startphase von

bis zu 20 Minuten. Danach erreicht sie ihre volle Nennleistung.

Ladebetrieb Die Brennstoffzelle lädt die Bordbatterie.

Standby Solange die Batterie ausreichend geladen ist

befindet sich die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle im StandbyModus und überwacht die Batteriespannung.

Abschaltvorgang Die Brennstoffzelle beendet den Ladebetrieb. Um

die Bauteile zu schonen kann dieser Vorgang einige Minuten dauern.

Frostschutz Die Brennstoffzelle ist aktiv, um sich vor dem

Einfrieren zu schützen.

Batterieschutz Die Brennstoffzelle lädt die Batterie automatisch,

um eine Tiefentladung der Batterie zu verhindern.

Unterbrechung Der Betrieb ist unterbrochen, da die

Umgebungstemperatur zu hoch ist. Die Brennstoffzelle schaltet sich automatisch wieder ein, sobald der Betrieb wieder möglich ist.

Störung Eine Störung liegt vor, entsprechende Hinweise

werden angezeigt. Weitere Informationen finden Sie in Kapitel 5 „Störungen und Lösungen“ auf Seite 40.

INFO: Im normalen Betrieb unterbricht die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle einige Male

pro Stunde die Stromerzeugung. Dabei wird ein Ladestrom von 0,0 A angezeigt.

Für den Aufruf des Menüs „Betriebsmodus“ stehen Ihnen 2 Möglichkeiten zur Verfügung:

3.4.1 Automatikbetrieb

Sobald Sie das Gerät an das Bordnetz anschließen, startet der Automatikbetrieb. Das Gerät überwacht die Batteriespannung selbstständig.

Die Brennstoffzelle schaltet sich automatisch ein, wenn die Spannung der Batterie unter 12,3 V sinkt. Die Batterie wird dann bis zum Erreichen der Ausschaltschwelle 14,2 V geladen.

Beim Starten durchläuft das Gerät eine Startphase von bis zu 20 Minuten. Erst danach erreicht es seine volle Nennleistung.

INFO: Falls das Gerät nicht startet ist, vielleicht noch der Verschlussdeckel auf

dem Abgasschlauchstutzen. Entfernen Sie den Verschlussdeckel.

INFO: Damit Ihre Batterie optimal gepflegt wird, ist es wichtig, dass bei

Erreichen der Ausschaltschwelle der Ladestrom nicht abrupt gestoppt wird. Die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle besitzt eine integrierte Batterieschutzfunktion. Diese Funktion verhindert, dass sich die Batterie

tiefentlädt wenn der Betriebsmodus „Aus“ eingestellt wurde.

Der Batterieschutz wird automatisch aktiviert, wenn die Batteriespannung länger als 15 Minuten 11,2 V unterschreitet. Der Lademodus „Batterieschutz“ endet wenn eine Spannung von 12,8 V erreicht wird.

Diese Funktion ist ausschließlich ein Schutz für die Batterie und übernimmt nicht die Ladefunktion.

VORSICHT! Die Frostschutz-Automatik funktioniert nur, solange eine gefüllte EFOY-

Tankpatrone und eine intakte Batterie angeschlossen sind. Für eine fünfmonatige Winterperiode in Mitteleuropa benötigt das Gerät

im Frostschutzbetrieb ca. 10 Liter Methanol. Das Gerät kann nicht mehr starten wenn die Spannung der

5. Wählen Sie mit [S][T] auf dem Bedienpanel die eingebaute Tankpatrone aus.

7. Drücken Sie nach dem Befüllen die Taste [ok]. Die Meldung wird gelöscht und die EFOY-Brennstoffzelle geht in den vorherigen Betriebszustand, z.B. Automatikbetrieb zurück.

2.2 General safety instructions

Read the user manual before commissioning the fuel cell, and keep the user manual close to the device at all times.

Follow all of the instructions in this user manual.

The EFOY fuel cell must not be opened. The EFOY fuel cartridge must not be opened or refilled using excessive

force. Modifications to the device constitute a safety hazard and may result in the

loss of your operating licence and nullify your warranty and guarantee. Use original EFOY accessories only.

EFOY fuel cells and EFOY fuel cartridges must not be stored at temperatures over 45°C and must not be operated at temperatures over 40°C.

Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Operate the EFOY fuel cell only as specified in the installation

instructions, and in a well-ventilated space.

Keep EFOY fuel cells that have been switched off in frost-free storage or use the automatic antifreeze feature.

Do not smoke in the vicinity of the EFOY fuel cell or EFOY fuel cartridge. Protect from heat and ignition sources. Methanol is highly flammable!

A methanol spillage (e.g. after an accident or in the event of damage to the EFOY fuel cell or EFOY fuel cartridge) poses a fire hazard. Keep away from ignition sources and ensure good ventilation.

Leakage of a small quantity of methanol will evaporate, leaving no residue.

Keep all EFOY fuel cells and EFOY fuel cartridges out of reach of children, even when empty or only partly full.

WARNING!

Methanol is toxic when inhaled, swallowed or allowed to come into contact with the skin. Inhaling and swallowing methanol or allowing it to come into contact with your skin carries a serious risk of irreversible damage.

Call a doctor immediately if you have direct physical contact with the substance, in the event of an accident, or if you feel unwell, and show the doctor the fuel cartridge label, the methanol safety data sheet or the user manual.

In exceptional cases, the waste gases emitted by the device may contain substances that are harmful to health!

Do not inhale waste gases directly for prolonged periods. Instead, use the exhaust tube provided to route the waste gas into the open air.

CAUTION!

Impurities in methanol! Original EFOY fuel cartridges contain methanol that has been approved by

SFC. Even slight impurities or foreign particles in commercially available methanol may cause irreversible damage to the device, and may nullify the warranty or guarantee.

2.4 Correct use

The EFOY devices produced by SFC Energy AG are automatic charging devices for 12 V lead accumulators (batteries). Please note the following:

• The devices must only be used to charge lead accumulators (batteries)

that conform to the technical specifications in chapter Technical Details "Technical Details" on page 90.

• The devices must only be operated with original EFOY fuel cartridges.

• The devices are not intended to be used as an emergency power supply

for medical, life-sustaining or agricultural systems.

• Devices with a defective or damaged housing must not be operated.

• The devices are not intended for industrial use.

Packaging

Your new device was packaged to ensure that it reached you safely. All materials used in the packaging are environmentally friendly and can be re-used.

We recommend that you keep the packaging in case it is needed for winter storage.

However, if you wish to dispose of the packaging, please help our planet by disposing of it in an environmentally responsible way and in accordance with the applicable local regulations.

Operating statuses

Start phase The fuel cell undergoes a start phase lasting up to 20

minutes. At the end of this phase, it has reached its full rated output.

Charging mode The fuel cell charges the vehicle's battery.

Standby The EFOY fuel cell remains in standby mode and

monitors the battery voltage until the vehicle's battery has been charged to a sufficient degree.

Shutdown procedure

The fuel cell shuts down charging mode. To protect the components in the device, this procedure may take several minutes to complete.

Antifreeze The fuel cell remains active to protect itself from the

effects of freezing.

Battery protection The fuel cell charges the battery automatically in

order to prevent deep discharge of the battery.

Interruption Operation is interrupted because the ambient

temperature is too high. The fuel cell switches on again automatically as soon as operation can be resumed.

Error An error has been detected, and corresponding

messages are displayed. For more information, see chapter 5 "Errors and Solutions" on page 86.

INFO: During normal operation, the EFOY fuel cell briefly interrupts power

generation several times each hour. A charging power of 0.0 A is displayed when this occurs.

3.4.1 Automatic mode

Automatic mode starts as soon as you connect the device to the vehicle's power supply. The device monitors the battery voltage independently.

The fuel cell switches on automatically if the battery voltage drops below

12.3 V. The battery is then charged until the cut-off threshold of 14.2 V is reached.

When the device is started, it goes through a start phase, which may last up to 20 minutes. It only reaches its full rated output after this phase.

INFO: If the device fails to start, check that the cover lid is not still attached to

the exhaust hose connector. Remove the cover lid.

INFO: To ensure optimal battery maintenance, it is important that the charging

current is not abruptly stopped when the cut-off threshold is reached. For this reason, the EFOY continues charging the battery for up to three hours at a reduced current after the configured cut-off threshold is reached (factory default = 14.2 volts). The length of the recharging period depends on the battery voltage and power consumption.

Do not disconnect the fuel cartridge or battery during the shutdown procedure.

This function serves only to protect the battery, and does not charge it.

If you want to switch off the fuel cell after

the battery protection function has started, press . The function is re-enabled

automatically when the device is switched on or is operated in automatic mode.

CAUTION! If you stop protective charging manually, battery protection is disabled

until the next time the fuel cell is started. Deep discharge may damage your battery.

INFO: Please check your system if the fuel cell repeatedly switches back to

battery protection. Either the battery has already been damaged or too much energy has been discharged.

INFO: Battery protection only works if a full EFOY fuel cartridge is connected.

3.4.5 Automatic antifreeze feature

CAUTION! The automatic antifreeze feature only works when the fuel cell is

connected to a filled EFOY fuel cartridge and an intact battery. For a five-month winter period in Central Europe, the device requires

approx. 10 litres of methanol in antifreeze mode. The device cannot be started if the voltage of the connected battery drops

below 9 V. Please note that, after you switch off the device, it will not recharge the battery if the voltage drops below 9 V.

The device has an intelligent automatic antifreeze feature. This mode switches on automatically as soon as the temperature

drops below 3°C. This prevents the device from freezing. If the device is operating in antifreeze mode, the message "Antifreeze" is shown in the second line in the display. The first line shows the current operating mode, e.g. "Off".

Battery parameters Function

Switch-on delay The EFOY fuel cell does not start immediately if

the switch-on voltage only drops below the set threshold level temporarily. The device only starts automatically if the switch-on voltage is still below this threshold level after the switchon delay of 60 seconds. For example, with the factory default of 12.3 V, the switch-on voltage must drop below 12.3 V for at least 60 seconds in order for the EFOY fuel cell to start.

If power consumers with a high rate of power consumption are operated temporarily, this value must be set in accordance with the operating times of these consumers.

Absorption time This function serves as an additional switch-off

criterion for EFOY fuel cells if the switch-off current level is not reached within the set time period.

This period is set by default to 3 hours, but can be changed to any value between 0 and 5 hours.

Operation

INFO: The EFOY fuel cell switches off automatically. This fully-automatic switch-

off function is controlled by the two operating parameters of battery voltage and charging current. In order for the EFOY fuel cell to switch off, the voltage must drop below the set switch-off voltage level, and the current must drop below the set switch-off current. The factory defaults are a switch-off voltage of 14.2 V and a switch-off current of 2.0 A (4.0 A for the EFOY Comfort 210). This means that the EFOY fuel cell switches off as soon as the battery reaches a voltage of 14.2 V and the charging current simultaneously drops below 2.0 A.

CAUTION! If you stop protective charging manually, battery protection is disabled

until the next time the fuel cell is started. Deep discharge may damage your battery.

Battery protection The EFOY fuel cell has automatic battery

protection, even when the EFOY fuel cell is switched off. By default, battery protection switches on when the battery voltage drops below 11.2 V (for min. 60 seconds).

The battery protection function provides deep discharge protection for the battery, even when the fuel cell is switched off and the charging function does not take over.

The device is not water-tight. Please ensure that no moisture can enter the device.

Switch the device off and disconnect the charge line before cleaning.

CAUTION! Do NOT open the EFOY fuel cell. Opening the EFOY fuel cell interferes with

safe operation of the device and nullifies the warranty and guarantee. The EFOY fuel cell does not contain any parts that you can maintain or repair yourself.

INFO: Under normal operating conditions, the EFOY fuel cell is maintenance-

free.

4.1 Replacing fuel cartridges

4.1.1 Removing fuel cartridges

Leakage of methanol fumes poses a fire hazard! Do not smoke when replacing the EFOY fuel cartridge and do not expose it

to other ignition sources! Protect EFOY fuel cartridges from temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Keep all EFOY fuel cells and EFOY fuel cartridges out of reach of children, even when empty.

1. Unscrew the fuel cartridge connection from the empty EFOY fuel cartridge.

2. Open the belt.

3. Remove the empty EFOY fuel cartridge.

4. Use the screw cap to seal each EFOY fuel cartridge securely after use.

4.1.2 Inserting fuel cartridges

1. Insert a new, fully sealed original EFOY fuel cartridge into the fuel cartridge holder.

2. Fasten the belt on the fuel cartridge holder. Only connect EFOY fuel cartridges to the EFOY fuel cell if they are secured with a fuel cartridge holder.

3. Do not remove the child-proof screw cap until the new EFOY fuel cartridge has been inserted into the fuel cartridge holder (3).

4. Screw the fuel cartridge connection onto the new EFOY fuel cartridge.

4.2 Service Fluid

If the Service Fluid level is low, the red light comes on and the message "Please refill Service Fluid" is displayed on the operating panel.

INFO: Service Fluid must not be refilled until the device is commissioned. Service Fluid must only be refilled if the relevant message is displayed on

the operating panel. Use original EFOY Service Fluid only. Swtich off the EFOY fuel cell before refilling with Service Fluid.

Disconnect the charge line. Please ensure that no dirt or foreign bodies enter the fill opening.

5. Press [S][T] on the operating panel to select the installed fuel cartridge.

6. Press [ok] to confirm your selection.

1. Use a clean scissors to cut off the tip of the bottle.

INFO: The bottle containing the Service

Fluid is designed to be used once only.

2. Disconnect the exhaust hose from the EFOY fuel cell.

3. Insert the tip of the bottle into the connection nozzle on the device and slowly squeeze the entire contents into the opening.

4.3 Firmware updates

INFO: Be sure to check on a regular basis (at least once a year) which updates

are available for your firmware. For information about the current firmware, go to www.efoy.com

4. Use a cloth to wipe away any excess Service Fluid that may spill over.

5. Reattach the exhaust hose.

6. Reconnect the charge line to the EFOY fuel cell.

7. When you have finished filling the device, press [ok]. The message is deleted and the EFOY fuel cell returns to its previous operating status, e.g. automatic mode.

8. Be sure to order your next refill of EFOY Service Fluid from your specialist dealer in plenty of time.

Please check the installation of the exhaust hose and position it so that no condensation can gather. Do not bend the exhaust hose. If necessary, clean the exhaust hose and protect the opening from becoming clogged. Shorten the exhaust hose if condensation is gathering in it.

32 The cooling air is insufficient or the

ambient air is too warm. Please check whether the room in which the fuel cell is installed has sufficient ventilation, or whether the openings for the air supply in the EFOY Comfort are blocked.

2.2 Consignes générales de sécurité

Veuillez lire ce manuel d’utilisation avant procéder à la mise en service et le conserver à proximité de l’appareil.

Respectez toutes les consignes figurant dans ce manuel d’utilisation.

Il est strictement interdit d’ouvrir la pile à combustible EFOY. La cartouche de combustible EFOY ne doit pas être ouverte de force, ni

remplie après usage. Toute modification compromet la sécurité et entraîne l’annulation de

l’homologation d’exploitation ainsi que l’extinction de la garantie. Utilisez uniquement des accessoires EFOY d’origine.

N’entreposez pas les piles et les cartouches de combustible EFOY à des températures supérieures à 45°C. De même, ne les utilisez pas si la température excède 40°C.

Protégez l’appareil de la chaleur et des rayons du soleil. Faites fonctionner les piles à combustible EFOY conformément aux in-

structions d’installation et dans un endroit bien aéré.

Stockez les piles à combustible EFOY éteintes à l’abri du gel ou utilisez la protection antigel automatique.

Ne fumez pas à proximité des piles ou des cartouches de combustible EFOY. Maintenez à distance des sources de chaleur et d’inflammation. Le méthanol s’enflamme facilement !

Une fuite de méthanol peut provoquer un risque d’incendie (par exemple, suite à un accident ou si la pile ou la cartouche de combustible EFOY a été endommagée). Éloignez tout produit présentant un risque d’inflammation du méthanol et aérez bien.

Si le méthanol s’écoule en faible quantité, il s’évapore sans laisser de résidus.

Tenez les piles et les cartouches de combustible EFOY hors de portée des enfants, même si elles sont vides ou entamées.
