I Smart Plug and EdiSmart App
SP-1101W V2 and SP-2101W V2 are Wi-Fi smart plugs that are mostly
managed by a powerful application tool from Edimax Technology. Once the
smart plug is connected to the internet, the accompanying app can control
and manage its functions such as turning it on / off, scheduling and budget
control.
The app’s functions are the same for iOS and Android, with a few minor
cosmetic differences due to the nature of the two Operation Systems (OS).
Noticeable differences will be highlighted.
The smart plug can now be linked to Amazon Alexa to enjoy remote control

I-1-4 Switch Status Button
The switch status button, located on the front of your smart plug (see I-1-2),
switches on/off your smart plug’s output power socket. You can switch any
device connected to your smart plug on or off with this button. The button
will light up green to indicate on (see I-1-3).

I-1-5 Reset
If you experience problems with your smart plug,
or you want to connect the smart plug to a
different Edimax app account, you can reset the
plug back to its factory default settings. This
resets all settings back to the default settings.
1. Press and hold the reset button found on
the front of the plug.
2. Release the button (after ~10 seconds) when
the network LED is flashing quickly in red.
3. Wait for the smart plug to restart. The plug
is ready when the network LED is flashing slowly in red (installation
mode).

Follow the instructions below to ensure your smart plug is properly connected
and ready for setup.
Please only set up one smart plug at a time.
1. Plug the smart plug into a power socket.
2. Press and hold the reset button (for ~10 seconds) on the plug until the
network LED starts flashing quickly in red and let go.

ready for setup when the network LED is flashing slowly in red to
indicate installation mode.

I-2 EdiSmart App Setup
To allow remote access to your smart plug, please use the EdiSmart app.
After setup, you can use the EdiSmart app to switch your smart plug on/off
remotely from any compatible mobile device with an Internet connection, as
well as set up automated schedules and email notifications.
Please go to the setup instructions suitable for your mobile device (iOS
or Android OS).

I-2-1-2 Connecting the Smart Plug
1. On your iOS device, go to Settings.
2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” (outlined in red) option.
3. Find and connect to the smart plug by tapping the
smart plug’s Wi-Fi name.
The smart plug’s Wi-Fi name should be in the
format EdiPlug.Setup XX as shown on the left:
When connected, the blue tick should be
shown.
If you cannot find your smart plug, try resetting it.

For EdiSmart app to control the Smart Plug, it must be connected to a Wi-Fi
network with internet connectivity. To do so, follow the steps below:

4. Open the EdiSmart app and tap the icon
(outlined in red) on the top-right corner of the
screen.
Firmware Upgrade
After selecting the icon, EdiSmart app will identify the current firmware
version of your smart plug and prompt you to upgrade it to the newest
firmware version if available.
Tap “OK” to upgrade your firmware.
After firmware upgrade, please press and hold the Reset Button (for ~10
seconds) on the Smart Plug until the network LED starts flashing quickly in
red and go back to Step 1 to continue setup.
If you have decided to integrate your smart plug to the EdiSmart app,
other apps (e.g. EdiLife) will not be able to control the smart plug.

5. Select a Wi-Fi network (e.g. your home’s Wi-Fi
router) from the Wi-Fi list.
6. Enter the network’s password and press “OK” to
continue.
The app will connect the smart plug to the Wi-Fi
router, please wait patiently.

app will ask you to enter a name for the device.
Enter a name where you will likely use the smart
plug for. For example, office desktop light, bedside

The “Schedule” screen displays a summary of your smart plug’s existing
schedules and allows you to set new or edit existing schedules.
You can set multiple schedules for each day.
If you are using the smart plug’s scheduling function, you also need to
set the correct time and date for your smart plug in “Device Settings
Advance”. Refer to I-5-6 Advance if you need help.

A. Tap the arrow icon to the right of any day you wish to set a schedule.
B. Tap the switch icon to enable / disable scheduling for that day.

D. Enter a start time (From) and end time (To) for the schedule. This is the

I-5-1 Name
You can edit the name used to identify the smart plug in the EdiSmart app.
Tap on the name section and the app will prompt you to edit the name. Enter
a new name and click “Ok” to confirm.
If you are using multiple smart plugs, it is recommended that you
name each plug for easy reference, e.g. Living room lamp,
bedroom fan..etc.

I-5-3 Budget Control (SP2101W V2 Only)
Your smart plug includes a helpful budget control feature which allows you to
regulate the amount of power which a smart plug uses per day, per week or
per month. You can set the limit in kWh or you can enter the cost of your
electricity per kWh and set the limit in monetary value e.g. $10 per month.
When the power usage reaches the limit, your smart plug will switch off
automatically.
You can also use email notifications which can be sent to your email when any
specified limit is exceeded.
Additionally, you can set another limit in watts (W) or amps (A) for your smart
plug which cannot be exceeded at any given time.
From the budget control screen shown below, there are three options:

I-5-3-1 Daily, Weekly & Monthly Control
Choose whether to set your limits in kWh (kilowatt hours) or use a monetary
value by tapping the icon on the top right corner. By default, your smart plug
is set to use kWh.
You can enter daily, weekly or monthly limits. The switch icon can be selected
to switch this limit on or off. When a limit is active and your smart plug
exceeds the limit, it will automatically switch off.

When your smart plug exceeds the set limit, the app can be configured to
send out notifications.
When tapped, the app will ask you to select one of “Off”, “Email”, “Push” and
“Push + Email” notifications (or “Cancel” to not select any), as shown below:
Tap the icon to save the configuration.
If you choose to set your limit using a monetary value ($) you will
be prompted to enter the cost of your electricity per kWh. Refer to

I-5-3-2 Current Usage Control
Your smart plug can be set to switch off anytime the power or current used by
its connected appliance exceeds a specified limit (in Watts or Amps,
respectively). Enter the limit in the box and tap to save.

I-5-3-3 Power Prices
To set daily, monthly or weekly usage limits in units of your currency
(represented by a $ icon), you first need to enter the cost of your electricity
per kWh. The smart plug can then calculate the cost according to its power
usage and adhere to your set limits. Enter the cost per kWh and click “Ok” to
save.
Then you can set a limit for your smart plug e.g. $10 per month to enable you
to track and manage your electricity costs more effectively.
Check with your electricity provider to find out the exact cost of
electricity per kWh.

Your smart plug can provide helpful notifications for different events such as
exceeding a set limit or being switched on or off. The smart plug can also send
a useful daily, weekly or monthly report consisting of information about the
plug’s usage.
Setup push notification to obtain the information mentioned above. A push
notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device where users do not
have to be in the app or using their devices to receive them.
To use push notifications, turn on the push notification setting by tapping the
icon as shown below:

You can reset your smart plug back to its factory default settings. This will
reset all settings including scheduling, email notifications and time settings.

ready for use again. The smart plug is ready for setup when the network LED
is flashing slowly in red to indicate installation mode.
You can also reset the smart plug by pressing and
holding the hardware reset button. Release the
button (after ~10 seconds) when the network LED

found on the front panel of your smart plug.
