INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE study these instructions carefully before beginning this installation. Most installations can be accomplished with common tools and
procedures. However, you should be familiar with and comfortable working on your vehicle. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation,
it is recommended to have the installation completed by a qualified mechanic. If you have any questions, please call our Technical Hotline at: 1-800-

IMPORTANT NOTE: Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer. Improper installation
will void your warranty and may result in poor performance and engine or vehicle damage.
DESCRIPTION: The Edelbrock aluminum water pump is a heavy duty water pump for both street and racing applications. The pump is externally the
same as original equipment pumps to provide compatibility with all accessories and pulleys. It offers weight savings along with increased durability
and cooling potential.
• #8850, 8860, 88503, 88504 are short leg pumps for 1965-68 passenger cars and 1967-72 light duty trucks, and 1969-70 Corvettes.
• #8851, 8861, 88513, 88514 are long leg pumps for 1969 & later passenger cars and 1973-86 light duty trucks with big-block Chevrolet V8s
(will not fit Corvette or heavy duty trucks over 1-ton).
• #8852, 8862 are a short leg design for 1971-74 Corvettes with big-block V8s.
• #8853, 8863 are reverse rotation, long leg design for 1988-94 light duty trucks with big-block Chevrolet V8s (will not fit heavy duty trucks
over 1-ton).
• #8854, 8864, 88544 are reverse rotation, short leg pumps for 1965-’87 Mark IV big-block Chevys with aftermarket serpentine belt pulleys. This pump
is ideal for street rods with aftermarket serpentine belt pulleys.
• #8858, 88584 are for 1958-1965 passenger cars with 348 and 409 “W” big-block Chevy engines.
INSTALLATION: Installation is the same as for original equipment water pumps. Consult service manual for specific procedures, if necessary.
CAUTION: Be sure that fan bolts don’t protrude through the hub so far that they hit the water pump housing.
NOTE: Removal of backing plate is not recommended, as there are no user serviceable parts in the water pump. If backing plate is removed,
use no sealer on the O-ring during re-installation, and use conventional gasket sealer (not RTV silicone) on gasketed models.

WARNING
Incorrect alignment or an unbalanced condition puts excessive strain on the pump’s shaft and/or bearing and will result in early failure of the
shaft and/or bearing. The balance of the assembly depends primarily upon the concentricity of the fan clutch and spacers with the pump shaft.
Concentricity is not assured when universal type clutches or spacers are used. Universal fan clutches and spacers have a 3/4” pilot hole, so an
adapter must be used when installing a water pump with a 5/8” shaft. This adapter bushing is supplied with the unit. These adapter bushings
add to the machine tolerances of the assembly, so special care must be taken to maintain concentricity with the shaft and the fan clutch. Failure
to do so will void warranty. The use of aftermarket (non-OEM) fan spacers are not recommended and will void the warranty of the water
pump.

DESCRIPCION: La bomba de agua de aluminio Edelbrock® es una bomba de agua para trabajos pesados para aplicaciones de calle y carreras. La

• La parte #8854/#8864/#88544 es una bomba de rotación opuesta de base corta para Mark IV 1965-87 Chevy de monobloque grande con
poleas de banda de serpentina.
• La parte #8858/#88584 es para autos de pasajeros con motores Chevrolet de 348 y 409 pulgadas cubicas de la serie “W” de monobloque
grande, modelos de 1958 a 1965.
INSTALACION: La instalación es igual que la del equipo original de las bombas de agua. Consulte su manual de servicio para procedimientos
específicos si es necesario.
PRECAUCION: Asegúrese de que los tornillos del ventilador no sobre salgan a través del cubo que puedan golpear la caja de la bomba de agua.
NOTA: No se recomienda remover la placa posterior, ya que no hay partes de servicio que cambiar en la bomba de agua. Si remueve la placa
posterior, no use sellador en el anillo de goma durante la instalación y use un sellador convencional (sin silicón RTV) en modelos con empaques.

ADVERTENCIA
El alineamiento incorrecto ó desbalance pone excesivo esfuerzo en la flecha de la bomba y/o en el balero y resultará en una falla prematura de
la flecha de la bomba y/ó en el balero. El balance del ensamblaje depende primordialmente en la concentricidad del embrague del ventilador con
la flecha de la bomba. La concentricidad no se asegura cuando un embrague de tipo universal es usado. El embrague universal del ventilador
tiene un orificio piloto de 1,9 cm para que un buje adaptador sea usado cuando instale la bomba de agua con una flecha de 1,6 cm. Este buje
adaptador es proveído con la unidad. Este buje adaptador provee el ajuste correcto al ensamblaje, así que se tiene que tomar cuidado adicional
para mantener la concentricidad entre la flecha y el embrague del ventilador. No se recomienda el uso de mercado de accesorios (no OEM)
separadores de fans y anulará la garantía de la bomba de agua.
