Suggested Tools for Installation:
❑ 3/8" ratchet set with SAE and metric sockets ❑ 9/16” & 15mm wrench
❑ Jackstands and jack ❑ Liquid penetrant and rubber lubricant
DISASSEMBLY
1. Raise vehicle and support with proper jackstands for
the weight, leaving the suspension hanging.
2. Use caution around hot exhaust systems to avoid
burns.
3. Use penetrating oil on all nuts and bolts.
Note: Some GM Trucks have a brace bar attached to
the left and right side frame rails. Remove bolt and
swing bar out of the way during installation.
4. Remove the bolts and clamps from the system and
lubricate the rubber hangers.
5. Use a pry bar to pull the rubber isolators off of the
pipe hangers.
6. Remove the old system. In some cases, you will find
it easier to cut the overaxle pipe to remove it.
ASSEMBLY
1. Bolt I-Pipe to factory outlet flange (behind catalytic
converters). Install hanger clamp assembly #234099 onto I-pipe and engage hanger bar into OE
isolator and snug the clamp. Note: Do not tighten
flange bolts at this time, (snug only).
2. Slip the muffler onto the intermediate pipe with a
3" band clamp on the front. Note: Inlet end of
muffler is marked. Snug the clamp so you can adjust
the system later.
3. Install a 3” band clamp onto the outlet of the muffler.
Slip the overaxle pipe into outlet of muffler.
4. Install hanger clamp assembly #23-4100 behind
band clamp and engage into OE isolator. Install
hanger clamp assembly #23-4042 onto outlet end of
overaxle pipe and engage into OE isolator. Snug
clamps for adjustments later.
5. Slip tailpipe onto overaxle pipe, and install 3” band
clamp.
6. Working from the front of the system, align and
tighten each pipe from the cat-back.
7. Check for clearance to body, frame, suspension and
driveline as you tighten the system from front to rear.
8. Re-attach the brace bar to frame rail (if equipped).
9. Check for leaks and correct, if any are found.
WARNING!!!
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a deadly invisible gas. Correct any leaks before driving!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer. Improper installation will void warranty and may
result in poor performance and engine or vehicle damage.
