SPECIAL NOTICE: This Edelbrock part has received an Executive Order number (E.O.#) from the California Air Resources
Board (C.A.R.B.) making it legal for street use in all 50 states. To assist you with emission equipment certification, we
have included a silver fan shroud decal to help testing personnel verify the this part is a legal replacement on the vehicle
for which it is cataloged. The adhesive-backed decal should be affixed next to the existing emission and engine
specifications decal. Do not cover any part of your original emission decal.
WARNING: The use of "Thermal Wrap" or any aftermarket coating process will void the warranty on your Edelbrock
Headers. Those products will cause excessive heat and moisture buildup resulting in corrosion and failure of the header.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Disassembly
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a flat stable
surface using the floorjack and proper load rated
jackstands.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove three nuts that retain catalytic converter to
the stock manifold.
4. Unplug and unclip oxygen sensor wires. There are
two sensors; one is located above the catalytic
converter, and the second sensor is located below
the catalytic converter. The wiring for the lower
sensor is clipped to the electric fan bracket.
5. Remove E.G.R. line from catalytic converter.
6. Remove the two bolts retaining the catalytic
converter pipe to the intermediate pipe and the two
bolts for the catalytic pipe bracket.
7. Remove the two nuts to the catalytic converter
retaining bracket and remove the catalytic
converter.
8. Remove the dipstick tube, power steering line
brackets, and the E.G.R. line bracket. Remove the
stud from the driver’s side of the cylinder head that
was used to hold the power steering line and the
E.G.R. line bracket to the cylinder head.
9. Unbolt and remove the stock manifold and gasket.
10. Remove exhaust manifold stud that is second from
the right side of the engine.
Assembly
1. Note: The coolant in the radiator is under
pressure and may be hot even after sitting
awhile. Safety glasses are recommended.
Cover the three rubber water lines that connect to
the radiator core support water manifold with the
provided heat shielding, by removing one end of
the hose and slipping the heat shield over the
hose. Re-connect the hoses to the water manifold.
Replace coolant that was lost.
2. Unclip the lines that run on top of the front water
line that is attached to the radiator core support.

Using the supplied power steering line bracket,
place bracket onto radiator core support so
mounting holes of the bracket are offset
approximately 1" toward the driver’s side of the
vehicle from the water manifold plastic tabs. Mark
the location for the power steering line bracket and
drill using #25 drill bit. Attach the power steering
line bracket to the core support with the supplied
sheet metal screws. Reform the power steering
line so it will run next to the radiator core support
and over the new power steering line bracket.
3. Attach factory E.G.R. line bracket to the cylinder
head using the supplied short 12mm bolt and lock
washer in the original bolt hole.
4. Use one of the original heat shield bolts in the
cylinder head mounting boss by the E.G.R. support
bracket. Leave the bolt loose, this is for the heat
shield supplied with the kit.
5. Place the supplied port gasket over the studs on
the cylinder head. Install the Edelbrock Header on
the studs using the provided 12mm bolts, lock
washers, and hardened washer on all bolts. Use
original nuts supplied, lock washers, and hardened
washers on the flange's end studs. Tighten all
flange bolts and nuts at this time.
6. Install dipstick tube with original hardware. Leave
bolt loose so the heat shield will slip over it.
7. Attach the power steering line to the bracket
installed in step 2 using the supplied clamps,
machine screws, and lock nuts.
8. Re-install the catalytic converter. The crush ring
gasket is re-usable. If a new gasket is needed, it
is available under Ford P/N YS4Z-9450-CA. Use
the original hardware to attach the catalytic pipe to
the intermediate pipe and the catalytic converter
retaining bracket. Plug oxygen sensor wires into
there appropriate plugs and clip in the original
locations. Attach E.G.R. line to catalytic converter
and tighten.
9. Attach straight heat shield bracket and EGR tube
bracket to the EGR support bracket installed in
Step 3 with supplied 12mm bolt and lock washer,
snug at this time. Place curved heat shield
bracket on the aluminum power steering pump
bracket using the supplied bolt and lock washer,
use the top hole in power steering bracket. Place
heat shield over the bolts in the cylinder head and
tighten the bolts at this time. Use the supplied
stainless screws and the lock nuts to attach heat
shield to the heat shield support brackets and
tighten all bolts to the bracket at this time. Check
for heat shield clearance at the header and any
possible interference locations, adjust heat shield
as needed.
10. Check all hydraulic, vacuum, water, and fuel lines
to ensure there is adequate clearance from the
header.
11. Re-connect the battery.
12. At this point, it is a good idea to check everything
over to make sure nothing was missed during
assembly.
13. Start vehicle and bring vehicle up to operating
temperature. Check for leaks of any kind.
14. Turn off engine and let cool. Tighten all the bolts
again.
