INSTALLATION
STEP 1 Let engine cool, raise hood and disconnect the
negative battery terminal.
STEP 2 Remove the throttle body air inlet hose (two hose
clamps) and disconnect the water lines from
underside of the factory throttle body.
STEP 3 Disconnect throttle return spring from linkage and
unhook throttle cable by opening throttle and
slipping cable from cam groove.
STEP 4 Unplug the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle
Bypass Valve (IBV).
STEP 5 Remove four nuts securing throttle body to intake.
STEP 6 Remove the throttle position sensor (TPS) and Idle
Bypass Valve (IBV) from the stock throttle body
and transfer over to the new Edelbrock throttle
body using the existing screws. Be sure to use
supplied plastic bushing on the TPS.For
optimum performance, match the intake opening to
the new throttle body size for maximum air flow.
STEP 7 Install new throttle body onto manifold using
supplied gaskets and torque to factory
specification (18 ft/lbs.).
STEP 8 Some vehicles will require the use of a water
bypass tube ( not included in kit) to connect
coolant hoses (there are no water connections in
the Edelbrock throttle body).
STEP 9 Re-attach return spring, throttle cable and the TPS
and IBV connectors.
STEP 10 Re-install flexible hose to throttle body and airbox.
STEP 11 Reinstall the negative battery terminal and refill the
coolant tank to allow for lost coolant.
STEP 12 Turn idle screw counter-clockwise until you can
see between the screw and the throttle linkage
(set gap to 0.010" with feeler gauge, if possible),
then turn screw clockwise exactly one full turn.
STEP 13 Be sure the idle bleed screw (brass slot head) is
turned clockwise until it bottoms in its bore. Do not
use too much force when bottoming screw.
STEP 14 Start engine. If no idle can be achieved, turn brass
idle bleed screw counter-clockwise in small
increments, restarting engine until desired idle rpm
is achieved.
