4 - 3/8” X 1.0” hinge mounting bolts (mid, lower)
6 - 3/8” AN washers
6 - 3/8” flat washers
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION
1. Remove the hood.
2. Remove the factory hinges from the fire wall
3. Test threads in firewall with new bolts.
Note: If existing boltholes have damaged threads or rust, you may have to re-tap or repair them.
In some cases it may be possible to thru bolt with a nut and washer on the backside.
4. BEFORE installing the hinges on your vehicle, first install the stainless steel gas spring to each
hinge. Remove wire keeper from each socket end on shock and install shock on hinge. Do not
replace wire keepers at this time, you may need to remove shock to adjust hinges on some
models. But don’t forget to replace keepers when installation is complete. IT IS IMPORTANT
THAT YOU INSTALL THE GAS SPRING WITH THE SHAFT SIDE DOWN IN ORDER TO
ENSURE PROPER OPERATION AND PREVENT FAILURE.
Note: To protect your paint from nicks and scratches during the install, invest in a roll of Painters
tape and apply to fenders, cowl, hood and front end.
5. Position each hinge on the fire wall and attach using the supplied 2-3/8” x 1.0”, 4-3/8 x 11/4 ”
button head bolts, each with one AN washer and flat washer. Tighten bolts snug so they are
securely attached.
6. Attach the hood to the hinges using the supplied 5/16” x 1” button head bolts, each one with a AN
washer and flat washer. Be sure to use anti-seize on all bolts before installing.
Note: Depending on your hood manufacturer, you may need a shorter bolt when
attaching the hinge to the hood. Check length before installing and tightening, making
sure to look for dimpling on top side of hood. Do not tighten bolts yet you will have to
maneuver the hinges and hood in order to get a proper fit.
7. To avoid hitting your cowl when closing the hood for the first time, slide the hood as far
forward as possible before closing. Close hood carefully making sure it does not hit the
fenders or cowl.
8. Check the height and position and make any adjustments by repositioning the hinge slightly at the
hood or firewall locations. PLEASE NOTE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO “DRILL OUT”
MOUNTING HOLES TO ACHIEVE MORE ADJUSTMENT. DOING THIS WILL VOID ALL
WARRANTIES NOT TO MENTION BEING DANGEROUS.
9. Once hood position has been set, tighten all bolts, remove tape and go.
ASSEMBLY NOTES:
1. Although our hinges are marketed as an easy install, Eddie Motorsports recommends that
you have these hood hinges installed by a professional to avoid the possibility of damaging
your vehicle. Eddie Motorsports is not responsible for any damage incurred during or
after installation of products.
1. Eddie Motorsports is not responsible for customer applications that are outside the normal and
intended use of our products including specific model and year applications.
2. Eddie Motorsports designs hood hinges off original OEM applications. Due to the vast array of
manufacturers for aftermarket parts, it is possible that you may have to open up your boltholes in
the sheet metal to accommodate the new hinge application.
3. A common problem occurs with hinge installation when the mounting surface on the inner fender
is bent or out of alignment (pulled out or pushed in at one or all mounting holes.) If this is the
case, the mounting holes will not line up correctly with the hinge. To correct this, double check
your firewall mounting positions by holding a straight edge against the mounting holes. If there
is a gap between the straight edge and the sheet metal, the mounting surface is bent or out of
alignment.
4. Some applications are not designed to work with your factory inner fenders. Please check to see
if your vehicle falls under this category before installing hinges. Eddie Motorsports is not
responsible for damage to inner fenders on these applications.
5. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DISASSEMBLE THESE HINGES. Doing so
will void your warranty. You may not return hinges that have been disassembled for any reason.
