Introduction
The Ecostrad Thermostrip is a versatile infrared heater that provides radiant infrared heat without any visible light. The Thermostrip’s wire element delivers heat that is gentle enough to be 100% comfortable, even after prolonged use, but strong enough to have an impact in spacious locations. Suitable for wall and ceiling mounting in a variety of hard-to-heat locations.
Safety Notes
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY: This infrared heater is designed for safe operation.
Nevertheless, installation, maintenance and operation of this appliance can be dangerous if undertaken incorrectly. Observing the following procedures will reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. It will also keep installation time to a minimum. Save these instructions for future reference.
Caution:
1. Children and vulnerable adults should not, under any circumstances, use, clean or maintain the heater.
2. CAUTION - Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Children of less than 3 years and
other vulnerable people should be kept away from the heater unless continuously supervised.
3. The unit is at a high temperature during operation. It stays hot for a period after shutdown. Potential danger would occur when touching it during this period.
4. In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
Assembly & Location:
1. Obey all mounting restrictions listed in installation instructions when installing. The heater must be mounted such
that it cannot be touched accidentally.
2. Installation must only be carried out by competent persons or a qualified electrician according to national
regulations. Wiring must be connected in accordance with the relevant national electrical safety standards and must be earthed. The electrical supply to the unit should be provided by connecting to a circuit protected by a fuse or miniature circuit breaker suitable for the electrical rating of the unit. Any plug, sockets and switches intended for use outdoors must have a water ingress protection ratings as good as, or better than, the protection rating of the heater (IP65).
3. The unit should be plugged into a socket which is easily visible and reachable. The heater must not be located
immediately below or in front of the socket outlet. The socket must be accessible without having to move the heater.
4. When assembling, keep clear from any flammable material.
5. Check the power cord and plug carefully before use to make sure they are not damaged.
6. This heater is not equipped with a device to control the room temperature. Do not use this heater in small rooms
when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
7. Do not install this unit in or near the outlet of a hot air heating system.
8. Do not place the unit close to curtains and/or other flammable objects. Otherwise there will be a risk of these
objects catching fire.
9. The unit is for outdoor use only. This unit must not be used in building sites, greenhouses, barns or stables where
there’s flammable dust.
10. Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming pool.
11. Do not use this unit in a place where caustic or volatile air exists, i.e. dust, steam, gas, etc.
12. Do not use this unit as a clothes or towel drier.
13. Do not use this unit as a sauna heater.
14. Do not use this unit in places of animal propagating and raising.
Use & Cleaning
1. The unit must be securely grounded during operation.
2. Do not cover the unit with anything during operation or a short time after it's shut down.
3. Do not wrap the power supply cord around the unit.
4. Children and vulnerable adults should not, under any circumstances, use, clean or maintain the heater.
5. The head of the unit is at high temperature during operation. Unplug the unit and wait till it's cool before cleaning.
6. Do not immerse this unit into water for cleaning.
7. The unit must be handled and transported with care, avoiding risk of impact or vibration in transit.
8. If damaged, the unit must be repaired by a professional repair team.
9. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid a hazard.
