1. Application
1.1 NEC
The XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS) is an intrinsically safe water-, dust- and impact resistant mobile phone
for industrial application in areas with an increased risk of explosion. Approved for Division 1 and 2 Class I, II, III
2. Safety precautions
These safety instructions contain information and safety regulations which are to be observed without fail for
safe operation in the described conditions. Non-observance of this information and these instructions can have
serious consequences or it may violate regulations.
Please read these safety instructions carefully before starting to use the device! In the event of conflicting
information the details specified in the safety precautions shall apply.
In case of any doubt (in the form of translation or printing errors) the English version shall apply.
3. Faults and damage
If there is any reason to suspect that the safety of the device has been impaired, it must be withdrawn from use
and removed immediately from the hazardous-area. Measures must be taken to prevent it from being restarted
accidentally.

The safety of the device may be compromised, if, for example:
- There is visible damage to the housing.
- The device has been subjected to excessive loads.
- The device has been improperly stored.
- The device has been damaged in transit.
- Device markings or inscriptions are illegible.
- Malfunctions occur.
- Permitted limit values have been exceeded.
4. Safety regulations
Use of the XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS) intrinsically safe mobile phone assumes that the operator
observes the conventional safety regulations and has read the certificate of conformity in order to eliminate
faulty operation of the device.
The following points are to be observed:
- The device has to be protected against strong impacts.
- The device must be protected against permanent UV-radiation.
- The unit should not be used in close proximity to processes generating high charges.
- Friction of the housing should be avoided as far as possible for electrostatic reasons.

- Do not disassemble the device.
- Use only the original battery module “Ex-BPC 41“.
- Do not dismount the battery pack inside hazardous-area.
- It is not allowed to carry dismounted battery packs into the hazardous-area.

The battery module may only be charged outside the hazardous-area and only by using the Safety box “SBH 07”.
- The battery module may only be charged in a temperature range of 0 - 45 °C.

The data connection is only allowed outside the hazardous area and only allowed by using the Safety box “SBH 07”.
- For charging or data transfer first connect the Safety box “SBH 07” to the phone, then connect the the Safety
box “SBH 07” to an USB-A socket. If done differently, the Safety box “SBH 07” may get harmed.
- When changing the battery (outside hazardous-area), ensure that both the device and the battery module
are clean of dust and dirt.
- Only accessories approved by ecom instruments GmbH may be used. See relevant product page at www.
ecom-ex.com.
- The wired headset may not be used inside potentially explosive areas.
- Only accessories specifically certified for use with this equipment inside potentially explosive areas may be
connected, such as the C-C550 IS Remote Speakter Microphone certified under Intertek Authorization to
mark no. 3153168.
- It must be ensured that the device is not taken into zones 0 or 20.

7. Changing the battery
Changing the battery is allowed only outside hazardous-area!
Please also observe section 4. Safety regulations.
1. If the battery is mounted, switch off the phone and turn the battery module’s screws anti-clockwise with a
suitable screwdriver.
2. Lift the battery module at the top side between the screws.
3. Insert a MicroSD card (max. 16 GB) if needed.
4. Insert the battery module by first placing the noses on the bottom side of the battery module into the
respective holes in the phone’s housing at its bottom. Press the battery module down at the top side and
tighten the screws of the battery compartment clockwise with a suitable screwdriver.
Do not overtighten the screw! They need to be fastened hand-tight!
5. Charge the mobile phone: The battery supplied with the phone is not fully charged. It is recommended to
charge the phone for five hours before using it for the first time. The full capacity of the battery is reached
after 3-4 complete charge/discharge cycles.
Note:
- There is a risk of explosion if the battery is not exchanged properly or if it is exposed to a flame.
- Do not short-circuit the battery.

- The battery does not contain any parts that can be exchanged.
- The casing of the battery should not be opened under any circumstances.
- Only accessories certified Intrinsically Safe may be used for charging (see point 4).
- The use of other chargers or batteries is not permitted.
Ex-protection cannot be guaranteed in this case.
- Used batteries are to be disposed of properly.
- If the phone is not going to be used for a prolonged period, the battery should be removed.
- The battery module should only be stored within a range of -20 °C
to +35°C (for up to 6 months) or within a range of -20 °C to +45 °C (for up to 1 month).
- The charge level of the battery module should be checked after 6 months at the latest in order to prevent
deep discharge.
- The phone should not be connected to the charger if the battery is not inserted.
- If the battery is completely discharged, the phone will not switch on and the display will not show a charging
process. Connect the phone to the charger. After charging for a few minutes the display will appear again and
you can then switch on the phone.
- Battery usage by children should be supervised.

8. Safety precautions for the battery
Damaged batteries and chargers should be removed from use and sent to ecom instruments GmbH for
inspection.
Note:
- Extreme temperatures can have an adverse effect on charging the battery module.
- Do not dispose of the battery module in a fire.
- Do not short-circuit the battery module.
- Dispose of the battery module in accordance with local regulations.
- Do not dispose of the battery module with normal household waste.
High quality lithium-ion batteries are used in your XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS). These batteries have
numerous advantages in everyday use, such as a low weight and high capacity in a nevertheless compact
construction. In addition these batteries also exhibit practically no memory effect. However, these batteries are
susceptible to a natural ageing process which impairs their functionality.
Modern batteries today have a lifespan of around 500 charge cycles, which, when used daily, corresponds to a
service life of approximately 2 years. The ageing process increases rapidly after this period, which means that
the batteries are deemed technically defective after 500 charge cycles. Moreover, the batteries could blow up
and cause irreparable damage to your device in a worst case scenario.

For this reason rechargeable batteries with lithium cells should be replaced after 2 years at the latest or after
reaching a battery capacity that is 50% of its initial value.
Note:
The battery used in this unit poses a fire hazard and can cause chemical injuries if it is used improperly.
Neither the battery nor the battery cells should be opened or disassembled and they should not be burned
or exposed to temperatures exceeding 100 °C.
9. Repair
Repairs are to be conducted by Valutech Outsourcing, a repair center authorized by ecom instruments GmbH
to conduct service for Sonim XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS). Other companies are not allowed to conduct any service because the safety of the device needs to be tested after repairs are implemented.
10. Cleaning, maintenance and storage
- Only use a suitable cloth or sponge to clean the phone.
Do not use any solvents or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning.
- It is recommended that you have the functionality and accuracy of the phone inspected by the manufacturer
every two years.
- If the unit is going to be stored for a prolonged period, remove the battery module from the unit and check
its charge condition at regular intervals.

- Do not exceed the permissible storage temperature range of -20 °C ... +55 °C!
- The battery module should only be stored within a range of -20 °C to +35 °C (for up to 6 months) or
within a range of -20 °C to +45 °C (for up to 1 month).
11. Disposal
Your device contains a rechargeable lithium battery.
Depleted batteries or rechargeable batteries that can no longer be recharged should never be disposed of
along with normal or household waste. Old batteries can contain harmful substances that are hazardous to
health and damaging to the environment. Please return the batteries/rechargeable batteries. Return is free of
charge and required by law. Please only dispose of discharged batteries in the designated containers and tape
the terminals of lithium batteries.
Note: The battery used in this unit poses a fire hazard and can cause chemical injuries if it is used improperly.
Neither the battery nor the battery cells should be opened or disassembled and they should not be burned
or exposed to temperatures exceeding 100 °C. If the battery needs to be disposed of, it can be removed as
described under point (8.1). The disposal regulations specified above are also applicable for old devices. All
batteries and rechargeable batteries can be recycled. Precious raw materials such as iron, zinc and nickel can
therefore be reused.
The symbol
has the following meaning: Batteries and rechargeable batteries should not be disposed of
along with normal or household waste.

1. Uso proviso
1.1 Códigos NEC
El teléfono móvil XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS) es un dispositivo intrínsecamente seguro y resistente al
agua, el polvo y los impactos, destinado a usos industriales en áreas sometidas a riesgo elevado de explosión.
Homologado para el uso así como en áreas que pertenezcan a las Divisiones 1 y 2 o exijan el uso de dispositivos de Clases I, II o III.
2. Precauciones de seguridad
Estas instrucciones de seguridad contienen información y normas de seguridad que deben respetarse sin
excepción para garantizar el funcionamiento seguro del dispositivo en las condiciones descritas. Ignorar dicha
información y las instrucciones descritas a continuación podría derivar en consecuencias graves o la infracción
de determinadas normas. Lea estas instrucciones de seguridad detenidamente antes de usar el dispositivo por
primera vez. En caso de información contradictoria, prevalecerá la descrita como parte de las precauciones de
seguridad. En caso de duda (derivada de un error de traducción o impresión), prevalecerá la versión redactada
en inglés de este documento.
3. Averías y daños
Si existe alguna razón que conduzca a sospechar de la seguridad del dispositivo, desista de su uso y aléjelo del
área sometida a riesgo de explosión inmediatamente. Tome las medidas necesarias para evitar que el dispositivo pueda volver a encenderse accidentalmente.

La seguridad del dispositivo podría quedar comprometida si, por ejemplo:
- La carcasa sufre un daño visible.
- El dispositivo ha sido sometido a una carga excesiva.
- El dispositivo ha sido almacenado en condiciones inadecuadas.
- El dispositivo ha resultado dañado durante su transporte.
- Las marcas o inscripciones que figuran sobre el dispositivo son ilegibles.
- El dispositivo no funciona correctamente.
- Se superan los límites permitidos.
4. Normas de seguridad
Durante el uso del teléfono móvil intrínsecamente seguro XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS), el usuario
debe respetar las normas convencionales de seguridad; el usuario debe leer el certificado de conformidad
para evitar cualquier uso incorrecto del dispositivo. Además, el usuario debe respetar las siguientes normas
de seguridad:
- El dispositivo debe protegerse frente a impactos fuertes.
- El dispositivo debe protegerse frente a radiaciones UV de carácter permanente.
- El dispositivo no se debe usar cerca de equipos de procesamiento que generen cargas elevadas.
- En la medida de lo posible, debe evitarse que la carcasa sufra fricción para impedir la acumulación de
electricidad estática.

- No desmonte el dispositivo.
- No abra el dispositivo en el interior de áreas sometidas a riesgo de explosión.
- Use sólo el módulo de batería original “Ex-BPC 41”.
- No desmonte la batería en áreas peligrosas.

No está permitido introducir baterías desmontadas en áreas peligrosas.
- Se prohíbe introducir baterías de repuesto en áreas peligrosas.
- La carga del módulo de batería sólo debe tener lugar en áreas no sometidas a riesgo de explosión y empleando la caja de seguridad “SBH 07”.
- La carga del módulo de batería sólo debe tener lugar a temperaturas co prendidas entre 0 °C y 45 °C.
- El uso de la conexión de datos sólo está permitido en áreas no peligrosas y empleando la caja de seguridad
“SBH 07”.
- Para cargar o transferir datos, conecte primero la caja de seguridad “SBH 07” al teléfono y, a continuación,
conecte la caja de seguridad “SBH 07” a un conector USB-A. Si sigue otro procedimiento, la caja de seguridad
“SBH 07” podría dañarse.
- Asegúrese de que tanto el dispositivo como el módulo de batería se e cuentren limpios y no presenten
suciedad ni polvo durante la sustitución de la batería (que no debe tener lugar en áreas peligrosas).
- Únicamente se admite el uso de accesorios homologados por ecom instruments GmbH. Consulte la página

7. Sustitución de la batería
Se prohíbe la sustitución de la batería en áreas peligrosas.
Respete también las indicaciones descritas en la sección 4. Normas de seguridad.
1. Si la batería se encuentra instalada, apague el teléfono y desenrosque los tornillos del módulo de batería
girándolos hacia la izquierda con un destor nillador adecuado.
2. Levante el módulo de batería por la parte superior, tirando de entre los tornillos.
3. Inserte una tarjeta MicroSD (máx. 16 GB) si es necesario.

4. Inserte el módulo de batería introduciendo en primer lugar las protuberancias
situadas en la parte inferior
del mismo en los orificios dispuestos al efecto en la parte inferior de la carcasa del teléfono. Empuje
el módulo de batería hacia abajo desde la parte superior y apriete los tornillos del compartimento de
batería enroscándolos hacia la derecha con un destornillador adecuado.
No apriete los tornillos en exceso. Hágalo de modo que fuese posible desenroscarlos con la mano.
5. Cargue el teléfono móvil; la batería suministrada con el teléfono no se entrega totalmente cargada. Se
recomienda cargar el teléfono durante cinco horas antes de usarlo por primera vez. La batería alcanza su
capacidad máxima tras 3-4 ciclos de carga y descarga completos.
-Los niños deben usar las baterías bajo la supervisión de un adulto.
Nota:
- La batería podría explotar si no se sustituye correctamente o se expone a una llama.
- No cortocircuite la batería.
- La batería no contiene piezas que se puedan sustituir.
- La carcasa de la batería no debe abrirse bajo ninguna circunstancia.
- Para cargar, solo se pueden utilizar accesorios certificados como „intrínsecamente seguros“ (véase apartado 4).
- Se prohíbe el uso de otros cargadores o baterías; ello pondría en compromiso la protección contra explosión
del dispositivo.
- Las baterías usadas deben eliminarse de forma adecuada.

- Si el uso del teléfono no está previsto durante un periodo prolongado de tiempo, deberá extraerse la batería.
- El módulo de batería debe conservarse a una temperatura comprendida entre -20 °C y +35 °C (durante un
máximo de 6 meses) o -20 °C y +45 °C (durante un máximo de 1 mes).
- El nivel de carga del módulo de batería debe comprobarse a intervalos máximos de 6 meses con objeto de
evitar que se descargue en exceso.
- El teléfono no debe conectarse al cargador si la batería no se encuentra insertada.
- Si la batería está totalmente agotada, el teléfono no se encenderá ni mostrará el proceso de carga en la
pantalla. Conecte el teléfono al cargador. Después de mantener el teléfono en carga durante unos minutos, la
pantalla volverá a encenderse y será posible poner en marcha de nuevo el dispositivo.
- Los niños deben usar las baterías bajo la supervisión de un adulto.
8. Precauciones de seguridad relacionadas con la batería
Debe evitarse el uso de baterías y cargadores averiados; los componentes en tal estado deben enviarse a
ecom instruments GmbH para su inspección.
Nota:
- Las temperaturas extremas pueden afectar negativamente al proceso de carga del módulo de batería.
- No arroje el módulo de batería al fuego.
- No cortocircuite el módulo de batería.

- Elimine el módulo de batería respetando las normativas locales en vigor.
No elimine el módulo de batería en conjunto con los residuos domésticos habituales.
En su XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS) se emplean células de Iones de litio de alta calidad. Dichas células
tienen muchas ventajas en el uso diario, por ejemplo, su bajo peso y su alta capacidad, no obstante lo compacto del diseño. Además las células casi no presentan Efecto-Memoria. Sin embargo en estas células se produce
también un envejecimiento natural, el cual perjudicará la función de éstas. Células modernas tienen hoy en
día una vida útil de aproximadamente 500 ciclos de carga, lo que en un uso diario significa una capacidad de
funcionamiento de unos 2 años. Tras ese tiempo, el proceso de envejecimiento se acrecienta rápidamente, de
forma que después de los 500 ciclos de carga las células se considerarán como técnicamente defectuosas. Las
células pueden asimismo inflarse y, en el peor de los casos, dañar su aparato irreparablemente. Por este motivo
se deben cambiar los acumuladores con células de litio a más tardar después de 2 años o una vez alcanzada
una capacidad del 50% de los valores iniciales del acumulador.
Atención:
En caso de un uso inadecuado, la batería empleada por este aparato puede ocasionar incendios y provocar
lesiones químicas. No está permitido abrir o desmontar el acumulador ni sus células, ni tampoco calentarlo a
más de 100 °C o quemarlo.

9. Reparación
Las reparaciones deberán ser realizadas por Valutech Outsourcing, un centro de asistencia autorizado por ecom
instruments GmbH para realizar reparaciones en Sonim XP3410 IS (SONIM XP STRIKE IS). No está permitido
que otras empresas lleven a cabo este tipo de trabajos porque es necesario verificar la seguridad del dispositivo
una vez llevadas a cabo las reparaciones.
10. Limpieza, mantenimiento y almacenamiento
- El aparato solo se puede limpiar con un paño o esponja apropiado. No use para la limpieza disolventes
o abrasivos.
- Se recomienda que el fabricante realice una inspección bianual con el fin de comprobar el funciona-
miento y la precisión del aparato.
- En caso de un almacenamiento prolongado debe retirarse el acumulador del aparato y controlar
periódicamente su estado de carga.
- Las temperaturas de almacenamiento no deben ser superiores ni inferiores a las admisibles
-20 °C ... +50 °C .
- El módulo de batería debe conservarse a una temperatura comprendida entre -20 °C y +35 °C
(durante un máximo de 6 meses) o -20 °C y +45 °C (durante un máximo de 1 mes).

11. Eliminación
Su aparato contiene una batería recargable de litio
Si las baterías están „vacías“ o no dejan recargarse, no está permitido desecharlas en la basura normal o casera.
Las baterías gastadas pueden contener sustancias peligrosas que pueden dañar el medio ambiente y la salud.
Por favor devuelva las baterías/acumuladores. La devolución es gratuita y está fijada por ley. Por favor deseche
sólo baterías descargadas en los recipientes para ello dispuestos y cubra con cinta adhesiva los polos de las
baterías de litio.
Atención: En caso de un uso inadecuado, la batería empleada en este aparato puede ocasionar incendios y
provocar lesiones químicas. No está permitido abrir o desmontar la batería ni sus células, ni tampoco calentarla a más de 100 °C o quemarla.
En caso de ser desechada, se puede extraer la batería como se describe en el punto (8.1). Adicionalmente
rigen las normas para la eliminación de aparatos antiguos, arriba señaladas.
Todas las baterías y acumuladores serán reutilizados. Esto permite recuperar valiosas materias primas como
hierro, zinc o níquel.
El símbolo
significa: Baterías y acumuladores no deben eliminarse en la basura normal o casera.
