General remarks
1.1
Information about the User Manual
Read the instructions!
Before beginning all work and/or operating instruments or machines, it is essential to read and understand these instructions. In addition, always heed all the instructions relating to the product that are included with the product!
This operating manual contains all the instructions for installing, commissioning, maintenance and repairs.
Personnel must have carefully read and understood this manual before
starting any work. The basic premise for safe operation is observing all safety instructions and work instructions in this manual. The local accident-prevention regulations and general safety instructions also apply to the area of application.
Illustrations in this manual are provided to aid basic understanding and may
deviate from the actual design.
The original language of this guide is German and, as such, the German
version of the original operating manual shall prevail.
All other languages are translations.
WARNING!
All instructions must be placed at the disposal of the operating and
maintenance personnel at all times. Please store all manuals and guides as a reference for operation and service.
If the system is resold, the operating manual must be supplied with it.

1.8 Packaging
The individual packages are packaged according to the expected transport conditions. Only environment-friendly materials were used for the packaging. The packaging is designed to protect the individual components up to assembly against shipping damage, corrosion and other damage. Therefore, do not destroy the packaging and only remove it just before assembly

Packaging materials are valuable raw materials and can, in many cases, be used again or be usefully processed and recycled.
Incorrect disposal of packaging materials can be a threat to the environment.

General Safety
DANGER!
If you assume that safe operation is no longer possible the pump must be put out of service immediately and be secured against unauthorized use.
This is the case if:

2.8 Obligations of the operator
In the EEA (European Economic Area), national implementation of the Directive (89/391/EEC) and corresponding individual directives, in particular the Directive (2009/104/EC) concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of work equipment by workers at work, as amended, are to be observed and adhered to.
The operator must adhere to the local legal provisions for:
n personnel safety (employers' insurance association and accident prevention
regulations, workplace directives), e.g. operating instructions, including those in accordance with Section 20 Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStof protective equipment (PPE), health screening;

Communication between the diaphragm metering pump and ‘EcoAPP’ is established via an active Bluetooth® link. T
o achieve this the ‘EcoAdd’ diaphragm metering pump must be equipped with a Bluetooth® PCB. If this is not already factory-fitted, this can also be retro­fitted (accessories).
NOTICE!
The user of the ‘EcoAPP’ is responsible for the use of appropriate safety mechanisms with the link and the data transfer between the ‘EcoAPP’
and the
‘EcoAdd’ diaphragm metering pump via Bluetooth®.
The safety instructions given below must be observed. Ecolab accepts no liability for damage arising from non-observance.

Only connect known instruments to the smartphone or tablet. If you want to connect unknown instruments, these should first be checked, or identified and rejected as necessary
n Note other instruments in the reception range!
Only perform pairing with other instruments when there are no other (unknown) instruments in the reception range and check automatic pairings. Bluetooth

instruments generally establish connections automatically when this function is switched on. For this reason, regular checks should be performed as to which instruments are being used to connect automatically to the smartphone or tablet used. This is displayed in the settings for the smartphone or tablet. If there are unknown instruments there, the corresponding pairing should be disconnected.

The ‘EcoAdd’ are diaphragm metering pumps powered by an electric motor to transport clean, non-abrasive metering media.
The stepper motor technology used here means that both, the suction stroke duration and metering stroke duration, can be adjusted separately
This results in a variety of benefits such as a large setting range, virtually continuous and low-pulsation metering, and even the option to respond to high viscosity or challenging intake conditions.
Selecting a corresponding [Metering mode] makes it possible to extend the suction duration per stroke (suction stroke duration) and thus adjust the metering to high product viscosities or challenging suction conditions.
This extension of the suction stroke duration simultaneously results in a reduction in the max. metering output.

Functional description
Operating method of the pump:
A low-noise stepper motor moves a metering diaphragm using an eccentric gear
During the suction stroke, a vacuum is generated through the reverse motion of the diaphragm, and the metering medium is drawn into the pump head through the suction valve.
During the pressure stroke, the diaphragm is moved forward, creating excess pressure, and the medium is pressed into the metering line by the pressure valve.
The delivery rate can be regulated by displaying it. A reduction in quantity means an extension in the metering stroke duration. The duration of the suction stroke remains unchanged here. By selecting a different metering rate, the suction stroke duration can also be modified for higher viscosities or challenging suction conditions.

The pumps consist of three main assemblies:

6.2.3 Conversion - change from stand mounting to wall mounting
To allow the pump to be adjusted to the site conditions, you can use the pump in either stand-mounted or wall-mounted form.

1. Remove the connector lines as far as necessary (hydraulically and electrically).
2. Press the fixing bracket on the mounting plate down to release the lock on the pump.
3. Move the pump on the mounting plate back until the fastening elements from the
pump base engage into position.
4. Remove the pump from the mounting plate by lifting upwards.
5. Fit the mounting plate on the wall.
6. Place the pump on the mounting plate from above so that the fastening elements on
the mounting place engage in the recesses on the side of the pump.
7. Push the pump downwards onto the fastening elements until they audibly engage.

With media that tend towards sedimentation, the base suction valve or the foot valve of the suction line or suction lance must be mounted above the expected sludge layer
Term definition Siphoning
Siphoning refers to the maximum fluid level (in this case the supply container) being higher than the lowest point in the metering line. In this process, the fluid runs out of the metering line without any pump output and solely via what is known as the "hydrostatic pressure equalisation".
Installation example 1

The metering pump should ideally be positioned on or over the metering container (pos. A).
A positive pressure dif between the back-pressure at the injection point and the pressure at the metering pump (pos. B). If this is not the case, a pressure control valve (pos. 2) must be included in the metering line. In addition, to avoid excessively high pressure levels in the metering line, an appropriate excess safety valve (pos. 3) must be installed.
This valve’s overflow line should be fed back into the container in a depressurised state.
A spring-loaded injection, or metering valve (pos. 1) should be installed at the injection point (pos. C) (including with supplying metered amounts into depressurised systems).
For easy venting of the metering pump, the vent connection should be routed via a separate line back to the metering medium container (D).

These measures avoid the supply container being siphoned.

6.4 Language selection
The pump is set to display a language selection screen the first time it is switched on to ensure that the operating language is suitable for the on-site operating personnel.
The language selection screen is displayed in English because this makes it easiest to select from the languages available and English is widely understood.

6.5.1
Modification - turning the pump head
To allow the pump to be adjusted to the site conditions, it is possible to turn the control unit (operating unit/upper part of the pump).

1. Loosen the fastening screws on the control unit.
The screws (1) are not secured against falling out! Ensure that the screws are not lost during disassembly and do not use any screws other than those originally provided.
2. Lift the control unit approx. 5 cm upwards.
Two cables that pass control signals to the pump are located between the pump control unit and the bottom part of the pump. When performing
the modification, ensure that you do not trap these cables between the control unit and the upper part of the pump.

system parameters being adjusted inadvertently, the pump software must be protected by the integrated multi-stage [access code] .
Setting the access code also protects the pump against unauthorised access via a smartphone connected via Bluetooth. An unprotected pump can be accessed via the EcoAPP without restriction!
If an access code has been defined on the pump, the pump will only be visible in the EcoAPP once the correct access code for the pump has been entered in the EcoAPP settings.

7.3.1 Cleaning the touch-sensitive control panel
CAUTION! It is advisable to use a microfibre cloth to clean the touch-sensitive
control panel.
Do not use any unsuitable detergents so as to avoid damaging the surface
of the control panel.
When cleaning, do not apply too much pressure to the control panel in
order to avoid damaging the pressure sensor.
Never clean the control panel by spitting on it and then rubbing it.
This will cause a smeared film to form on the control panel,
which will have to be cleaned again. – Never use aggressive or scouring techniques or detergents. – Never use products which contain ammonia.
Ammonia can damage the control panel. – Do not spray liquids or water directly onto the control panel.
Otherwise, there is a risk of ingress and damage inside the device.
Spray the liquid onto the microfibre cloth instead and squeeze it out in order
to remove all excess liquid before using it for cleaning. – Never use paper towels or tissue paper.
They contain wood fibres which can scratch the plastic surface.
Scratches will possibly not be visible initially, but the surface will appear
matt and blurred over time.
The procedure for cleaning is as follows:

In the Timer operating mode, the runtime and standstill times of the pumps are determined by the adjustable time spans. There are two different program types for selection here.
In the seven-day programme, up to seven metering times can be set per weekday. Switch-on time, metering duration and metering capacity can be individual selected for each metering time.
With the interval programme, the pump works with a continuously repeating sequence of set switch-on duration and switch-off duration.

The ‘EcoAdd’ is set to display a language selection screen the first time it is switched on to ensure that the operating language is suitable for the on-site operating personnel.

In order to exclude the possibility of the pump being used improperly and / or of the system parameters being adjusted inadvertently and should be protected by the integrated multi-stage [Access code] .
The safety setting is not activated when the pump is first started!
When the first configuration of the pump is performed, we strongly recommend enabling the [Access code] ‘Administrator (A)’ and
‘Operator (O)’ and providing the [Access code] only to the authorised
personnel!
User with the [Access code] ‘Operator (O)’ have fewer authorisations in the setting options. The [Access code] for ‘Administrator (A)’ of ‘EcoAdd’ pump enabled for the user.

(see type plate) to hand and note down the current date displayed on the pump (at the lower right of the display).
The code provided by Ecolab is valid only for 24 hours.
This means that you must enter the code on the day it is provided by Ecolab. The pump will accept the code only on this date.

7.9.9 Alarm relay
The functional method of the alarm output and the response of the pump on an alarm can be defined here. The alarm relay can be used to display when the pump goes to a stop condition, in other words if it is switched of This function can be used to display the operational readiness of the pump on a remote monitoring unit.

7.9.10.3 Chemical selection from an integrated database
This function is only available when a database has been loaded onto the pump. A loaded database is shown in the operating screen using the corresponding symbols . If you have installed a database, please contact the customer service department at Ecolab.
If a database is installed, the metering chemical used can be configured. This takes account of the service intervals as well. The more aggressive the chemical is in combination with the pump materials used (resistance), the earlier the service intervals will be due.
If you select a metering chemical from the integrated database, the pump sets the service intervals automatically:

NOTICE!
If the metering chemical is not compatible with the pump material pairing, the chemical name is displayed in red on the operating screen.
If no selection is made for the pump, in addition to ‘No details’ and ‘Manual’, the use of a database can be applied, however service department at Ecolab. This description displays the potential version with database.
