1. IMPORTANT REMARK
Congratulations! You are the owner of a carefully designed and manufactured equipment. We thank you for trusting in us and choosing our DACORDi Series loudspeaker cabinets. In order to get the optimum operation and efficiency from this unit, it is VERY IMPORTANT
- before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully and bear in mind all considerations specified within it. We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by our Authorised Technical services.
2. WARNINGS
No user serviceable parts exist inside these units. Never use this unit in the proximity of water. Do not expose the unit to water splashing, nor place liquid containers on top of it.
Avoid placing the unit next to heat sources.
Use only accessories provided by the manufacturer.
The units must never be flown from their transportation handles. Use the correct accessories for each application. Whenever loudspeakers are wall or ceiling mounted, a redundant mounting system is obligatory as safety measure. Use a steel cable or chain of suitable gauge to avoid the fall of the loudspeaker in case some element of the main suspension system would break away from its fastening device.
3. INTRODUCTION
With an approach based on the permanent tracking and contact with installers and interior design and system integration professionals, DACORDi line of loudspeakers has been designed for fixed installation especially in surroundings needing a compact loudspeaker with high efficiency, easy installation, and an excellent sound quality. High quality 15 mm plywood has been used for manufacturing. All models are equipped with a grill of 1.5mm thickness to protect the loudspeakers from blows or foreign objects. The DACORDi series passive filters are LC type ones with low tolerance polyester condensers and heavy gauge wire coils. All models incorporate an effective high frequency protection system against feedback or signal clipping. Connection plates are equipped with Speakon® connectors.
4. MODELS
DACORD T108i
Employs an 8” high performance bass driver with polypropylene membrane, capable of holding up to large cone displacements. This 8” driver is firmly mounted on a steel chassis and features a powerful ceramic magnet and a 52 mm coil. A 1” tweeter provides the high frequencies.
DACORD T208i
Employs two 8” high performance bass driver with polypropylene membrane, capable of holding up to large cone displacements. This 8” driver is firmly mounted on a steel chassis and features a powerful ceramic magnet and a 52 mm coil. Two 1" tweeters are used for high frequencies.
DACORD H206i
It uses two high efficiency 6.5" low frequency drivers able to support long excursions; they're mounted on a steel chassis and feature a powerful ceramic magnet and a 49.5mm coil. For high frequencies a high efficiency 1" compression driver with a nylon diaphragm has been used in conjunction with an adjustable CD-horn having 90x60 º dispersion.
DACORD H208i
It uses two high efficiency 8" low frequency drivers with a polypropylene diaphragm able to support long excursions. These 8" are mounted on a steel chassis and feature a powerful ceramic magnet and a 52mm coil. For high frequencies a high efficiency 1" compression driver with a nylon diaphragm has been used in conjunction with an adjustable CD-horn having a 90x60º dispersion.
DACORD H208i and DACORD H206i models have a treble presence selector on their back panel allowing to immediately and simply match the treble response with the application or site specifications. These two references also have a rotatable horn (see diagram); units are shipped from factory with 90° of horizontal dispersion and 60° of vertical one, when the loudspeaker is horizontal.
DACORD SB212
Subwoofer unit. It uses 2 high efficiency 12" low frequency drivers able to support long excursions. For more detailed information on DACORD SB212 unit please read its specific owner's manual.
5. CONNECTIONS
The connection cables which connect the amplifiers output and the speaker should be of good quality, have sufficient conductor area and be as short as possible. The latter fact is specially important when the distance is long and the load impedance low (4-8 ). A cross-section of at least
2
2.5mm
is recommended for distances up to 10m; 4 or 6mm2 for longer distances. Following formula
gives the required section, assuming 4% losses:
Length in m
Cross section in mm
2
= 
Loudspeaker Impedance in
Always respect polarity. All connections are Speakon® type. The pin-out is indicated in the diagram. The back panel connexion plate has a second Speakon® connector to connect loudspeakers in parallel. Together with this manual you'll find a spare Speakon® connector.
6. RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER
Following table shows the output power of the amplifier adequate to each acoustic system:
DACORD T108i between 150 and 300W DACORD T208i between 300 and 600W DACORD H206i between 220 and 440W DACORD H208i between 300 and 600W DACORD SB212 between 700 and 1400W
7. PRE-AMPLIFYING MIXERS
Avoid excessive gain adjustments in the equalizer or tone control sections.
8. PLACEMENT
Consider following general rules:
Place the acoustic enclosures on solid and firm surfaces. The Sub bass speakers will prove more effective if placed on the floor horizontally, instead of flying, elevating or placing the unit vertically. No obstacles should stand between the enclosures and the audience. The high frequencies are very directive compared to the low frequencies, so that any obstacle will impair their response. In case large audiences must be addressed, a better long distance sound propagation will be achieved if the enclosures are flown high enough.
9. INSTALLATION
The best hanging method has been studied for each model of the DACORDi series. Each one is provided with the optimal installation system. But if these assembly options are not suitable for your needs DACORDi models also feature anchor nuts accepting M8 standard bolts. In addition all 206i and 208i models include a practical assembly assistance handle in their wiring board:
DACORD T108i
Ready for installation, using a mount compatible with the VESA 100 standard, either vertically or horizontally on the wall or ceiling. Always check that the VESA mount chosen can withstand the weight of the DACORD T108i speaker.
DACORD T208i
Provided with U-bracket for its installation on wall or ceiling. For its installation on ceiling the use of ECLER SRDA accessory is recommended as it facilitates loudspeaker orientation.
It also features a 35mm standard pole mount receptacle to mount it on a standard 35mm tripod (ECLER TRIP01) or mounting fixtures provided with a rod of this diameter (ECLER SR12).
DACORD H206i
Provided with U-bracket for its installation on wall or ceiling. For its installation on ceiling the use of ECLER SRDA accessory is recommended as it facilitates loudspeaker orientation in conjunction with U-bracket. ECLER SR10 mounting fixture can also be used for wall mounting and allows the loudspeaker to be oriented in any direction.
DACORD H208i
Provided with U-bracket for its installation on wall or ceiling. For its installation on ceiling the use of ECLER SRDA accessory is recommended as it facilitates loudspeaker orientation in conjunction with U-bracket.
IMPORTANT NOTE
In no case should these equipments be suspended via their carrying handles; use the accessories adapted to each application. Whenever loudspeakers are wall or ceiling mounted, a redundant mounting system is obligatory as safety measure. Use a steel cable or chain of suitable gauge to avoid the fall of the loudspeaker in case some element of the main suspension system would break away from its fastening device.
