Please note the included General Safety N o tes a nd the following s a fe ty
note s to a v oid m a lfunctions, d a m a ge or phy sical inj ur y:
Make sure the voltage corresponds to the type label on the unit. Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to
use the unit, unless they are supervised for their safety by a qualified person
or are briefed by the responsible person how to use the unit.
Keep bystanders out of the working area. Do not leave the hedge trimmer
unattended after use and keep well away from children.
Use the hedge trimmer only for the intended use to cut leaves, bushes, shrubs
and hedges. Do not attempt to cut branches greater than 8mm in diameter.
Do not use the hedge trimmer near flammable liquids or gases. The unit is not designed for continuous, profe ssional use. Do not expose the hedge trimmer to rain. Do not operate the trimmer in damp
or wet locations and do not cut wet foliage. Do not work in the dark.
Before using, check the hedge trimmer for any damaged parts and do not use
the trimmer if damages are detected.
Only operate the hedge trimmer with the mounted hand protection guard (2). Keep the hedge trimmer firmly in both hands and hold the trimmer only on
the handle or on the extension pole.
Wear suitable clothing and use safety glasses, safety
gloves and ear protection.
Make sure to have a safe, firm position when operating the trimmer. When
using ladder or scaffold, make sure the stands are stable and cannot topple
over. Always keep yourself balanced when cutting with the trimmer .
Make sure the power cord cannot get into the cutting area. Keep the cord
away from oil, heat and sharp edges.
Never carry the hedge trimmer by the cord and always grasp the plug to
unplug from the wall socket. Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle when the
blades are idle. Always fit the blade protection when carrying or storing the hedge trimmer. Careful handling with the trimmer reduces the risk of injury.

Do not pull the trimmer by the cord. Make sure the power cord cannot get
caught in any way.
When cleaning, during maintenance, or when not in use always, disconnect
from the power supply.
Use only extension cables which are approved for outdoor operation. Use
approvable extension cable with a cable quality of H07 RN -F; 3-1.5 mm2. Ask
your electrician.
For your added safety, we highly recommend the use of an RCD (Residual
Current Detector) when operating the trimmer.
The blades are very sharp. Do not touch the blades during use and keep
fingers, hair, clothing and similar objects away from the blades.
Do not attempt to remove cut material from the blades or to hold material to
be cut when the blades are running. Remove jammed material from the blades after switching off and unplugging. A moment of inattention while operating
the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury.
Keep the blades always sharp and clean. Replace defective or completely worn
blades with original parts only.
Do not force the trimmer while cutting. Allow to hedge trimmer to work at the
rate for which it was designed.
Have sufficient rests! The extension pole supplied is designed only for use with this hedge trimmer.

Disconnect plug from mains before cleaning,
inspection or maintenance work!
Do not expose to rain.
Keep bystanders out of the danger zone.
Atte ntion! When using the hedge trimmer with the extension pole, only
connect the extension cable with the plug of the extension pole. N ever insert the plug of the hedge trimmer directly into the plug of the extension cable.
Should the unit become damaged do not use it and have it repaired by a
professional or contact our customer support department. Do not disassemble
the unit or try repairing it yourself.

Befor e fir s t Use
Remove the hedge trimmer and the accessory from the packaging. Check carefully
for any obvious damage and that all parts have been supplied. Dispose off packaging materials out of reach of small children. There is risk of suffocation!
As s e mb ling a nd Ope ra ting
For optimal transport the hedge trimmer is supplied only partly assembled. Please
assemble the unit as follows:
1. Insert the hand guard protection (2) on the motor housing and mount the
hand protection using the self tapping screws included .
2. Form a loop in the extension cord and thread the extension cord
through the slot in the handle. Hook the cord over the moulded
cable run (5).
3. Adjust the desired angle of the
blades with the release buttons (3). Press both buttons inwards
and move the handle (4) up or down.
4. Release the buttons in order to
lock the blades to the desired stop. If necessary, ask a third party
to assist you. The hedge trimmer is provided with 6 detents and
each detent has an angle setting of
22.5°.
5. Connect the male plug of the hedge trimmer with the female plug of the 10m
power cable and plug into any convenient 13Amp mains outlet.
6. Remove the blade protection.
7. Press the ON/OFF switch (7) either on the right or on the left side of the
handle in order to switch on the hedge trimmer. Firmly hold with one hand the
upper handle and with the other hand the bottom handle.

8. Before adjusting the angle of inclination, disconnect from power mains. Before cutting bushes, shrubs or hedges, remove thick branches or similar
material. Make sure that there are no small animals hidden in the bushes
or hedges.
There are different cutting techniques and certain seasons to be observed
when trimming hedges or bushes. For detailed information see appropri­ate technical literature.
Please note the local rest periods when working with the hedge trimmer in
order to avoid disturbances.
Below you will find some hints on trimming hedges:
If a hedge has to be cut back very substantially, trim the hedge i n two
passes.
First cut the hedge to the desired height and stretch a
string along the hedge at the desired height. Guide the
blades of the hedge trimmer at an angle of 10 – 15° to the hedge in order to get a straight cut.
Trim the hedge to a trapezoidal shape cutting from the
bottom to the top.
Round the top edges of the hedge. Finally trim the bottom edges back. Appropriately dispose of cut materials.

Us ing the E xtension Pole
With the extension pole you can also trim in difficult to reach areas.
1. Remove the protection cap from the extension pole connection. Store the
protection cap in a safe place.
2. Insert the extension pole as far as it will go into the pole connection (6). The
extension pole fits only in one position into the connection.
3. Tighten the hedge trimmer and the extension pole together. Turn the seal
only hand tight. When inserting the extension pole into the pole connection,
the switch of the hedge trimmer will be out of order, the integrated power plug will provide the AC power to the hedge trimmer
4. If the extension pole is not used, the power plug adapter (page IV No. 17) has
to be used
5. Connect the male plug of the extension pole with the female plug of the 1 0 m
power c a ble a nd the n p lug into a ny conve nie nt 1 3 Amp ma ins outle t.
6. Put the shoulder strap on your shoulder and adjust to the desired length
7. To start the hedge trimmer,
press and hold the safety switch (12) pressed and
press the ON/OFF switch (13).
With the handle adjustment (11) on the extension pole you can
incline the hedge trimmer to an angle up to 90° to the left and to
the right.
Before changing the angle of inclination or moving the handle adjustment,
disconnect the plug from power mains.

8. To change the angle of the handle to 90° press the handle and the pole
together and turn it in clockwise direction. It will click into place at 90°.
9. After trimming, disassemble the extension pole and screw the protection cap
on the pole connection (6).
Cha nging the Ca r bon B rushes
If the trimmer should fail to operate, firstly check there is power from the power
supply you have plugged the trimmer into. If the trimmer still fails to operate, please check the fuse in the plug at the end of the 10m power cable. If trimmer
still fails to operate, unplug the trimmer from the power supply and change the carbon brushes (part 18) as these wear out after extended use.
1. To change the carbon brushes, unscrew both, black caps (9) with a suitable
screwdriver and remove the caps. Behind the caps you will find the carbon brushes.
2. Insert the new carbon brushes (originally included when trimmer first
supplied), into place and tighten the caps

Replace the blades only if they are completely dull. Changing the blades demands a little bit of skill. When ordering replacement parts you will get a detailed
instruction for changing the blades.

Oil the blades with machine oil after cleaning and before using the hedge
trimmer again.
When cleaning or maintaining the hedge trimmer, first disconnect from power
mains. Do not pull on the cord but grasp the plug itself to remove from the wall socket.
Remove dirt from the blades with a scrubbing brush. Do not clean the housing with any chemicals as these will damage the surface.
Only use a soft cloth lightly moistened with warm mild soapy water. Clean the ventilation slots with a soft dry paintbrush.
Store the hedge trimmer in a dry, dust-free and frost-protected place. Store
the hedge trimmer with its blade guard in place and out of reach of children.
