1 About the RFN SelectComm-MRB

The RFN SelectComm-MRB is a radio communications device designed for use in Cooper

Power System’s EkaNet RF mesh networks. It has no sensor or meter directly associated

with it, and can be used in a variety of applications to extend the range and reliability of
the RF mesh network. It is designed to be used in Cooper’s LCR, Relay, Gateway, Energy
Harvesting Relay, and Field Tool products. The RFN SelectComm-MRB provides a 915
MHz radio interface.

The RFN SelectComm-MRB operates from a DC power source of either 12 VDC or 5 VDC,
received from the host device. The radio modules operate in license-free bands at 915
MHz (902.75 to 927.25 MHz). RFN SelectComm-MRB Nodes are fully compatible with
mesh network hardware, protocols and operations. Two radio transmission data rates are
available: 76.8 kb/s and153.6 kb/s. The transmission power of the 915 MHz radio is
adjustable from 30 dBm to -20 dBm.
