using your radio.
Safety and General
1. Do not transmit more than 50% of time. It is important as the radio generates measurable RF energy exposure only when transmitting.
2. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
3. Radio frequency signals transmitted may cause interference to hearing aids.
4. Turn off the radio when near medical equipment.
5. This product should not be used by people with pacemakers.
6. Do not use the radio when driving a vehicle or operating machinery.
7. Do not use the radio when on board aircraft.
8. Do not hold the antenna when transmitting.
9. Do not use the radio when the antenna has damaged.
10. Turn off the radio and remove the batteries if you are not going to use it for a long time.
Two-way Radio Operation
The device was tested for typical body-worn operations using the supplied belt-clip. To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure requirements, body-worn operations are restricted to the supplied belt-clip. For hand-held operation, the radio should be held at least 1 inch (2.5cm)
from the user’s face. The use of accessories that do not satisfy these requirements may not comply with FCC RF exposure requirements and

OPERATIONAL CAUTIONS
1. Never dispose of batteries in a fire. There is a serious risk of explosion and /or the release of highly toxic chemicals.
2. Do not expose your product to direct sunlight, extreme cold or place it near heating appliances.
3. Do not submerge any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp, humid or wet conditions.
4. Do not expose your product to fire, explosive or other hazardous conditions. For example, at petrol stations or areas where explosive products are used.

Warranty Eartec communication systems are warranted from malfunction due to manufacturing defects by the original purchaser for the

What is Covered If you require warranty service for your product within the warranty period ship your product pre-paid only to Eartec.
The end user is responsible for the initial shipping charges to our facility. Eartec will pay the return ground shipping charges if the product is
covered under the warranty.
This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship in all Eartec products excluding:
(a) Damage from misuse, abuse, or general wear and tear.
(b) Repairs or product modifications by anyone not authorized by Eartec Co.
General Service / Returns All repair work due to general wear and tear will be performed for the cost of replacement parts, radio re-
tuning and return shipping from the Eartec factory.

Introduction
Each Scrambler UHF is factory programmed to provide discreet private tw o- wa y
voice contact. All outgoing transmissions are digitally en cr yp te d an d sc ra mb le d to
prevent eavesdropping. In addition, CTCSS frequency guard pr ot ec ts t he r ec ei ve c ir cuit by blocking outside interference. Combined, these fea tu re s en su re t ha t co mm unications remain completely private.

5. To make a call press and hold the PTT key (G) on the side of the radio and speak
into the microphone. The LED indicator (C) will flash red confirming transmission.
6. For best voice translation speak directly into the microphone (F) using normal
voice levels. Release the PTT key when you are finished speaking.

Operation
1. Slide battery onto the back of the transceiver until the latch at the bottom clicks, then follow
the charging procedure before operation.
2. The Power switch / volume control knob (B) turns the transceiver on and off and also sets the
incoming sound level. Turn the power switch / volume control clockwise to turn the transceiver
on.
3. Set the operating channel via the Channel Selector (A). Rotate the Channel Knob
setting it to the desired channel. Channel numbers are printed on the radio. The radio features
an audible channel announcement and will tell the user the channel selected.
4. Before making a call, monitor the channel to make sure that no one is using the
frequency (optional). To monitor the channel depress and hold the monitor button (I).

7. Incoming messages are received through the built in speaker (E). Adjust the
speaker sound level by rotating the volume control knob as follows: clockwise:
higher, counter-clockwise: lower. Incoming messages are confirmed by green flashing light on LED indicator.
8. The headset jack (D) allows addition of audio accessories including speaker microphone and lightweight and heavy-duty headsets.
Using Your Headsets
Our headsets include special noise cancelling
microphones. For optimum performance adjust microphone
boom so the element is directly in front of, and approximately 1 - 2” from the user’s mouth.
Battery Care
STOP!
DO NOT DRAIN BATTERY!
The rechargeable battery included with the Scrambler will
not develop a memory. Therefore there is no need to purposely run down the battery power after each use.
Repeated draining will shorten the battery life expectancy and may also result in
loss of factory programming in the corresponding radio.
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR
Double audio beep every 5 seconds indicates low battery power.
Turn radio off immediately and replace or recharge battery.
Battery Charging
The rechargeable battery included with the Scrambler will not develop a memory.
Always store your radios turned OFF between games with any remaining power and
then recharge fully before the next use.
1. Plug the AC adapter cable into the jack located on the rear of desktop charger base.
2. Slide the transceiver and battery pack into the charger.
3. Plug adapter into AC outlet.
4. Make sure the battery pack contacts are touching the terminals.
5. LED indications: RED: charging, GREEN: full charge.
6. Remove the transceiver from charging base when charging is completed.
