MENU #1 -FISH SIZE

This menu adjuststhe size of fish thatfish alert will alarm or flashon.

When the ID-6300 is first turned on, it

automatically flashes on medium and largefish. Youcan adiustittoflash on

small, medium, and large fish, medium and large fish, or large fish only.

Noticewhen the 10-6300 is in the automatic mode, only medium and large fish willflash. The fish size feature is not adjustable whenthe ID-6300 is in automatic. Themenuappears withonly medium 9n the screen. If you try to adjustit, the ID-6300will sound antone.

MENU #2-SCC (SURFACECLARITY

CONTROL)

Themarkings --or noise--atthe top ofthe displaycan attimes extend

manyfeetbelowthe surface. This can interfere with fish signals or othertar-

gets. These markings are Surface

Clutterandarecausedby wave action,

boat wakes, bait fish, temperature in- versions, and other reasons.

Use Surface Clarity Control (SCC) to reduce or eliminate surface

clutter. SCCvariesthe gain ofthe re- ceiver between each transmit pulse, whilethe receiveris "listening"forthe

return echoes. Thegain isthe lowest forechoesnearthesurface. Itgradu-

ally increases as the depth Increases.

Toadjustthefishsize,firstmake certain the 10-6300 is not in automatic.

Next, press theCMN'DFUNCTIONkey.

Themenuappearswith mediumfish highlighted. Tochangetosmall press

the downarrow key in the RANGEsection. Tochange to large, pressthe up arrow key in the RANGEsection. Waitsix seconds and the menu will

disappear, or press the CMN'DFUNCTION key. Theselection you just made will nowbeactivated.

MENU #3-DISC (DISCRIMINATION)

Unwanted noiseon the display is afairly commoncomplaint. Noise is

any undesired signal. It can be caused byeitheranelectrical oracousticsource,

or a combination ofthe two. In both

cases,thenoisecan produceunwanted marks onthe display.

TheID-6300 has Discrimination which is effective in combating noise

signals. It processes all incomingech- oesfromthe receiver, determineswhich

ones are noise and eliminates them, displaying only the legitimate echoes. Discrimination has three levels, LO, MED.and HIGH. Discrimination isauto-

maticallysetto LOwhen the ID-6300 is firstturnedon. Ifnoiseis presentonthe

display, press the CMN'DFUNCTION

key,'then press the arrow keys in the

ZONE ALARM section until the DISC

menu appears. Then press the arrow keys in the RANGE sebtion until the desired level ishighlighted. Then press the CMN'D FUNCTION key. There should be an immediatechange in the noisedisplayedonthe screen.

For a distictiveaudible alarm whenfish are detectedby thefish alert

feature, presstheFISHkey. Theword "ALARM'will bedisplayedatthebottom

right below the lower

limit. Eachtimeafish Is detected by.the fishalert feature, the audiblealarm will

sound.

To turn the fish alert function off, press theFISH l.D. key. Toturnthe fishalarmoff,press theFISHkey. Press the OFFkey in the FISH LD. sectionto turnbothfishalertandthefishalarmoff.

(NOTE: Thesensitivity isnotadjustable when the ID-6300 is in automatic and

AlightallowsoperatiooftheID- 6300 at night. The lights flash forap-

proximately sixsecondswhenthe unit Is firstturnedon. Press bothSENSITIV- ITY keys at the same time to turn the lights on. To turn the lights off, press

both keys again. Thelightswill also go outwhenthe ID-6300 isturnedoff.

pages ofmenus aailabIe. These menus are accessed with the COMMAND FUNCTION key. Press it, and the first

menu appearsforsixseconds. As you can see, the first menu is FISH SIZE.

The number "1" at the bottom of the screen indicates thisIs menu number

MENU #5 - FEET, FATHOMS, or METERS

The lD-6300 can display the depth ineitherfeet,fathoms,or meters.

At first, the display reads in feet. To change it to fathomsor meters, press theCMN'DFUNCTION key. Then press thearrows intheZONEALARMsection

untfl the UNITS menu appears. Press thearrowkeysintheRANGEmenuuntil

thedesired unit of measure (feet, fath-

oms, or meters) is highlighted, then pressthe CMN'DFUNCTION key to

MENU #5-DIGITALDISPLAY

Thismenuallowsyoutoturnthe

digital displayon or off. When the ID6300isfirstturnedon, thedigitalisauto-

maticallyon. To turn it off, press the CMN'DFUNCTIONkey. Then pressthe arrows in the ZONEALARM section of

the keyboard until this menu appears. UsethearrowkeysintheRANGEsection

toselect ON or OFF. The digital will be turned onor off immediately.

ALARMS

ThelD-6300hastwodifferentalarms, azonealarmandafish alert. Thezone alarm consists ofabarthatdisplaysontheleftsideofthescreen. The alarm "chirp8" whenever the ID-eaQo detects an echo inside the

boundaries ofthezonebar.

Fishl.D.isanexciting newconceptinfishidentification. Itidentifies

fish byflashingtheirsignals onthedisplay. This"fishflash"feature adjusts forsmall, medium, and largefish. Orlarge fish only, ifdesired.

With Fish l.D., an audiblealarm alsosoundsonly when fish are detected. Toseparatethe alarms, thefishalert'stonesoundsdifferentthan the zonealarm. Bothalarms maybe used atthe sametime.

automatically on. ToturnGRAYLINEoff, presstheGRAYLINEkeyonthe

DIGITAL

BuiltinsidetheID-6300isacomplete digital sonar. Itautomatically discriminatesbetweenthevalidbottomechoes andfalseechoesfromfish,

thermoclines,orothersignals. Thedigital dsplaywillshowonlythebottom depth. Use ftanytime, regardless ofthe mode theID-G300 is in.

Atpower on, thedigitalwill flash "0" until ithas"lockedon"tothe bottom signal. Once ithasacquiredthe bottomdepth, ftwilldisplaythe

depth in the lowerleft ofthedisplay.

The digital can display the bottom depth in tenths ofafootdown 1o99.9 feet. SeetheCOMMANDsec-

tion fordetails.

Therearethreedifferent sizes

ofthedigital depth display. Theycan beeasily changedwith a menu selec- tion. See the COMMAND section for

details.

displays. Next press the up or down arrows in theRANGE sectionofthekey-

MENU #8-TENTHS

The digital sonar displays the bottom depth in whole numberswhen

theID-6300isfirst turned on. Todisplay

thedepth in tenths of afoot, select the DIG TENTHS menu. The ID-6300 will

displaytenthsofafootdownto99.9 feet. Below this the depth displaywill auto-

matically revert to whole numbers. To selecttheDIG TENTHSmenu, pressthe

CMN'DFUNCTION key. Then press the up or down arrow keys on the ZONE ALARM section until menu #8 displays.

Nextpress theup or downarrows in the RANGE sectionofthe turn

MENU #9-DIGITALAVERAGING

ThedigitalsonarusedintheID6300 is a highly sensitive device that

givesrapidujxlatesofthewater's depth.

Undermostconditions,thebottomcon- tour changes so quick that the display appears to "jitter". In otherwords, the

displaywill change so quicklythatitcan be difficultto determine theactual bot-

tom depth. To minimize thiscondition, the lD-6300 averages the bottom readings and displays the result. When the lD-6300 is first turned on, averaging is enabled. Toturnitoff,selectmenu #8

byfirst pressing the CMN'DFUNCTION

key.
