ASSEMBLY
• Stand t he appliance up straig ht and slide the hose into g uides at the back of the
appliance and cl ick into place.
• Ensure t he hose is straight and s lide the wand straight d own into the hose until it
clicks into plac e.
• Click the w and handle into the top of t he appliance. Press th e red button on the
rear of the wand ha ndle and slide the tube d own. Close the wand cap.
• Att ach the tools to the applia nce and wind the cable an ti-clockwise aro und cable
hooks and secu re with clip.
USING YOUR DYSON APPLIA NCE
Unwind the cabl e and insert the plug in to a suitable socket. Ho ld the cleaner
head down with y our foot and pull the han dle downwards. To switch ‘O N’ or
‘OFF’ press th e red power button in f ront of the handle.
CAUTION:
• Do not allo w the appliance to be use d by anyone who may not be ab le to
operate it saf ely.
• The use o f an extension cable i s not recommended.
• Alway s switch ‘OFF’ and unp lug before perfo rming maintenance on y our
appliance.
• Ensure t he cyclone is secure d to the appliance. Do not p ress the cyclone rel ease
button or sha ke the appliance while ca rrying or it could fa ll and cause injury.
• Store th e appliance indoors . Put the appliance awa y after use with the c able
coiled safel y, to prevent tripping hazard s.
• Do not us e outdoors or on wet sur faces or to vacuum wat er or other liquids –
electric sh ock could occur.
• Do not lub ricate any parts, o r carry out any mainte nance or repair work oth er
than that show n in this Dyson Operat ing Manual, or advise d by the Dyson
Customer Care H elpline.
PLEASE N OTE:
• This app liance is intended fo r domestic use only. Fine d ust such as plaster d ust
or flour should o nly be vacuumed in ver y small amounts.
• Do not us e the appliance to pick up sh arp hard objects, sm all toys, pins, paper
clips, etc. The y may damage the applia nce.
• If used i n a garage, care should be ta ken to wipe the solepla te and wheels with
a dry cloth af ter vacuuming to clean o ff any sand, dirt, or peb bles that could
damage delica te floors.
• Consult y our flooring manuf acturer’s recomme nded instruction s before
vacuuming and c aring for your floor ing, rugs, and carpe t. Some carpets
will fuzz if a rot ating brush bar is use d when vacuuming. If th is happens,
we recommend v acuuming in hard floo rs mode and consultin g with your
flooring ma nufacturer.
• When va cuuming, certain car pets may generat e small static charge s in the clear
bin. These are en tirely harmless and a re not associated wi th the mains supply.
To minimise any eff ect from this, do not put y our hand or insert any o bject into
the clear bin unl ess you have first em ptied it and rinsed it ou t with cold water.
(See ‘Cleani ng the clear bin’ sectio n on page 8).
• Do not us e or store this applianc e below 0°C. Ensure t hat the appliance is at
room tempera ture before operat ing.
HARD FLOORS/CAR PETS
Ensure the appli ance is in an upright posi tion before adjust ing the setting. Th e
brush bar will au tomatically stop if i t becomes obstru cted. If the brush b ar stops
during use, plea se refer to the ‘Clear ing brush bar obstru ctions’ section (s ee
pages 4 and 8).
HIGH-RE ACH CLEANIN G
CAUTION:
• Switc h ‘OFF’ the appliance b efore changing tools .
• Power ful suction can caus e the hose to ‘pull back’ - ple ase take care.
• Take extra c are when vacuuming on s tairs. Do not work with t he appliance
above you on the st airs. Do not put the app liance on chairs, table s etc.
• Ensure t he appliance is in the upr ight position befor e using tools.
PLEASE N OTE:
• To release t he wand, open the wand cap a nd pull the red tube from i nside the
handle until it cl icks. Press the grey bu tton at the front of th e carry handle to
release the wa nd and hose from the appli ance. Tools can be atta ched to either
the hose or the wa nd.
• The bru sh bar will not rotate wh en the appliance is in an upr ight position.
• Ensure wa nd cap is closed when no t in use.
EMPT YING THE CLEA R BIN
CAUTION:
• Switc h ‘OFF’ the appliance an d unplug before empt ying the clear bin.
• Empt y as soon as the dirt rea ches the level of the M AX mark – do not over fill.
• To remove the c lear bin from the applian ce, press the red but ton at the rear of
cyclone carr ying handle. To releas e the dirt, press the re d bin
release but ton.
• To minimise dus t/allergen contact w hen emptying, enca se the clear bin tightl y
in a plastic bag a nd empty. Remove the cle ar bin carefully and se al bag tightly,
dispose as nor mal. Emptying into a ba g is recommended fo r people with
asthma and alle rgies.
• Do not us e the appliance withou t the clear bin in place.
CLEANIN G THE CLEAR BI N
CAUTION:
To remove the cyclo ne unit from the clear bin p ress the red bin releas e button.
This exposes a s mall silver button b ehind the red opening m echanism. Press th e
silver butto n and separate the cy clone unit from the cle ar bin.
• Clean th e clear bin with cold wat er only.
• Ensure t he clear bin is complete ly dry before repla cing.
PLEASE N OTE:
• Do not us e detergents, polis hes or air freshener s to clean the clear bin.
• Do not pu t clear bin in a dishwasher.
• Clean th e shroud with a cloth or dr y brush to remove lint an d dust.
WASHING YOUR FILTERS
DO THIS EV ERY 3 MONTHS
CAUTION:
• Switc h ‘OFF’ and unplug the app liance before remov ing the filters.
• Ensure t he filters are comple tely dry before ref itting to the appli ance.
PLEASE N OTE:
This appliance h as two filters, loc ated as shown. It is imp ortant to check your
filters regu larly and wash at leas t every 3 months acco rding to instructi ons, to
maintain per formance.
• Aft er washing please lea ve for 24 hours to dry comp letely.
• The fil ters may require more f requent washing if vac uuming fine dust.
• Do not us e detergents to clea n the filters.
• Do not pu t the filters in a dishwas her, washing appliance, tum ble dryer, oven,
microwave or nea r a naked flame.
LOOKING FOR BLOCK AGES
CAUTION:
• Switc h ‘OFF’ and unplug the app liance before check ing for blockages. Fa ilure to
do so could resul t in personal injury.
• Pleas e ensure the appliance i s upright and switche d off before removi ng hose or
airway insp ection parts.

• Refit a ll parts of the applia nce securely befor e using.

• This app liance is fitted wi th an automatically re setting therma l cut-out. If any
part of the app liance becomes blo cked, it may overheat an d automatically
cut-out. Swit ch ‘OFF’ and unplug the a ppliance and leave to co ol down for 1-2
hours before c hecking filter or fo r blockages.

The details of th e Dyson guarantee a re set out below. In additi on to your rights
under the Dys on guarantee, we also pro vide the following st atement as
required by the A ustralian Consume r Law: In Australia, you r Dyson appliance
comes with st atutory guarant ees that cannot be exc luded under the Aus tralian
Consumer Law. You are en titled to a replacem ent or refund for a major f ailure
and for compen sation for any other re asonably foresee able loss or damage.
You are also entitle d to have your Dyson appl iance repaired or repl aced if it fails
to be of accepta ble quality and the fa ilure does not amount to a m ajor failure.

authorised a gent - PT Higienis In donesia or their auth orised agents.
• Any par ts replaced will be come the propert y of Dyson Applia nces (Aust) Pt y Ltd.,
Avery Robins on Ltd. (NZ), Dyson S ingapore Pte Ltd. o r PT Higienis Indone sia.
• The rep air and replacement o f your Dyson applianc e under Dyson guaran tee
will not exten d the Dyson guarant ee period.
• The Dy son guarantee provid es benefits whic h are additional to and do no t
affect yo ur statutory rig hts and remedies as a co nsumer.
• You must prov ide proof of (both origin al and any subsequent) d elivery/
purchase bef ore any work can be carrie d out on your Dyson app liance. Without
this proof, any work ca rried out pursuant t o the Dyson guarante e and any
associated d elivery charges (b oth to and from us) will be at y our cost, subject to

WHAT IS COVERED
Your Dyson guaran tee covers:
• The rep air or replacement of yo ur Dyson appliance i f your Dyson applianc e is
found to be defe ctive due to fault y materials, workma nship or function wi thin
2 years of purcha se or delivery (if any p art is no longer avail able or out of
manufactu re Dyson will replac e it with a functional r eplacement part ).
• Use of the D yson appliance in th e country of purchas e.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Under your Dy son guarantee, Dyso n shall not be liable for co sts of repair or
replacemen t of a product incurred a s a result of:
• Norma l wear and tear (e.g. fuse, b elt, brush bar etc).
• Indus trial use of the Dyson a ppliance such as vacuu ming gyprock dust or
builders dus t. This may void your Dyso n guarantee.
• Accide ntal damage, faults c aused by negligent us e or care, neglect, care less
operation or h andling of the Dyson ap pliance which is not in acc ordance with
this Dyson Op erating Manual.
• Blocka ges – please refer to th is Dyson Operatin g Manual for details of h ow to
unblock your D yson appliance.
• Use of the D yson appliance for a nything other than n ormal domestic ho usehold
purposes in th e country of purchas e.
• Use of par ts not assemble d or installed in accord ance with the instr uctions
of Dyson.
• Use of parts and accessories other than those produced or recommended by Dyson.
• Damag e from external sou rces such as transit, wea ther, electrical outa ges or
power surges.
• Failure s caused by circumstan ces outside Dyso n’s control.
• Repair s or alterations carr ied out by parties ot her than Dyson or it s
authorised a gents.
If your Dyson g uarantee does not app ly, you may have statuto ry rights and
remedies avai lable to you as a consumer.

• If your D yson appliance will no t operate, first che ck mains socket has ele ctricity
supply and the pl ug is properly inser ted into the socket.
• Sucki ng up certain items su ch as stockings, clip pings of cloth, sizeable p ieces
of paper etc ma y block the hose or duct s. Should a blockage o ccur, refer to the
‘Looking for b lockages’ section i n this Dyson Operat ing Manual (see pages 4
and 8).
• Never pi ck up hot cinders or lit ciga rette ends.
• Do not at tempt to pick up water w ith your Dyson appli ance. It has not been
designed as a we t pick-up cleaner.
