READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. Do not charge the Dyson handheld vacuum outdoors, in a bathroom or within 10 feet of a pool.

2. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.

3. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

4. Use only as described in this manual. Use only Dyson recommended accessories and replacement parts.

5. Do not use with damaged cable or charger. If the Dyson handheld vacuum is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, contact the Dyson helpline.

6. Do not unplug by pulling on cable. To unplug, grasp the charger, not the cable.

7. Do not handle the charger, including the charger terminals or Dyson handheld vacuum with wet hands.

8. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything
that may reduce air flow.

9. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

10. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

11. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as petrol, or use in areas where they may be present.

12. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.

13. Do not use without clear bin and filters in place.

14. Use only the charger supplied by the manufacturer to recharge.

15. Unplug the charger from socket before maintenance.

16. Do not use with an extension cable.

17. This Dyson handheld vacuum is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the Dyson handheld vacuum by a person responsible for their safety.

18. Do not incinerate this Dyson handheld vacuum even if it is severely damaged. The batteries may explode in a fire.

19. Always turn off the Dyson handheld vacuum before connecting or disconnecting the motorized brush bar.

USING THE DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM

CAUTIO N:

• Take caution n ot to engag e battery rele ase but ton durin g normal op eration.

• Dirt an d debris ma y be relea sed from the Dyson h andheld vacuum if it is turned

upside do wn. Ensure t he Dyson handheld vacuum remains upright in use and
storag e.

• Do not ope rate the D yson han dheld vacu um while che cking for blockage s.

PLEA SE NOTE:

• Do not carry out any m aintenance or repair work othe r than that shown in this
Dyson O peratin g Manual or advised by the Dyson Custom er Care Helpline.

• This Dyson handheld vacuum is designed for domes tic indoor and car use only.
Do not use it while the car is in motion o r while driv ing.

• Do not press down on th e nozzle with exces sive force w hen using t he Dyson
handheld vacuum as this may caus e damage.

• If the motor overheats, the D yson handheld vacuum will cut out automat ically.
Leave it to cool for at least an hour and check for blockages bef ore restarting.

• Fine dir t such as flo ur or plaster dust should only b e vacuume d in very
small amounts.

• Consult y our floor ing manuf acture r’s recommended ins truct ions before
vacuumin g and caring for your flo oring, rugs and carp et.

• The brush bar on the h andheld can damage c ertain c arpet t ypes and floors.
Some carpets will fuzz if a ro tating br ush bar is us ed when vacuuming. If t his
happen s, we recomm end vacuu ming without the Motorhead a nd consulting with
your flooring manu facturer.

TROUBLESHOOTING – DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM

Charged.

Filter missing/f ilter fitted inc orrectly.

EMPTYING THE CLEAR BIN

CAUTIO N:

• Switch off the Dyson handheld vacuu m and disconnect from charger b efore
emptying the clear bin.

• Empty a s soon as the dirt rea ches the level of the M AX mark – do not overfill.

• To release th e dirt, push the but ton at the side of the cle ar bin as show n.

PLEA SE NOTE:

• Do not use t he Dyson handheld v acuum without the cl ear bin in pla ce.

CLEANING THE CLEAR BIN

CAUTIO N:

• Ensure th e clear bin is completely dry before repl acing.

PLEA SE NOTE:

• To remove the clear bin, push the release button on the und erside of t he Dyson
handheld vacuum as shown.

• Use only cold water to clean the clear bin. Do n ot use dete rgents, p olishes o r air
freshe ners.

• Do not put t he clear bin in a dishwash er.

WASHING THE FILTER

CAUTIO N:

• Switch ‘O FF’ and dis connec t from charger before removing the filte r.

• Ensure filter is com pletely d ry before refit ting to the Dyson ha ndheld vacuum.

PLEA SE NOTE:

• This Dyson handheld vacuum h as one filt er, located as s hown. It is important to
check your filter and wash with cold water regularl y or as requir ed, to maintain
perf ormance. Please leave to dr y complet ely for 12hours.

• The filt er may require more fre quent washing if vacu uming fine dust.

• Do not use d etergents to clean the filte r.

• Do not put t he filter in the dishwa sher, washing machine, tum ble drye r, oven,

microwave or near an op en flame.

LOOKING FOR BLOCKAGES

CAUTIO N:

• Switch off the Dyson handheld vacuu m and disconnect from charger b efore
looking for blockages.

• Beware of sharp objects wh en clearing blockag es.

• Refit all parts o f the Dyson handheld vacuum se curely be fore using.

PLEA SE NOTE:

• Clearin g blockages is not covered by the Dyson handheld vacuu m’s guarantee.
If any par t of the Dy son handh eld vacuum become s blocked, it m ay overhe at
and then automati cally shut o ff.

• Unplug th e Dyson h andheld va cuum and le ave to cool down. Clear b lockage
before restar ting.

CLEARING BRUSH BAR OBSTRUCTIONS

CAUTIO N:

Switch off the Dyson handheld vacuu m and disconnect from charger b efore
clearin g brush ba r obstru ctions . If your bru sh bar is obs truct ed, it may stop
spinning. If this happens you will need to remove the bru sh bar as sho wn and
clear any o bstruc ting deb ris.

CHARGING AND STORING THE DYSON
HANDHELD VACUUM

The Dyson hand held vacuum will turn off if the batter y tempe rature is b elow

3°C. T his is designed to prot ect the m otor and ba tter y of the prod uct. Do
not charg e the Dyson handheld vacuum and then move it to an area with a
temper ature below 3˚C for stora ge purpo ses.

BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Use only D yson batteries and charging unit for the Dyson handheld vacuum.
The bat tery is a sealed unit and unde r normal circumstan ces pose s no safet y
concer ns. In the un likely event that liquid leaks fro m the bat tery, do not touch
the liquid and obser ve the following pre caution s:

• Skin con tact – can c ause irri tation. Was h with soap and water.

• Inhalation – can cause respira tory irritation. Expose to fresh air a nd seek

medical advice.

• Eye cont act – can cause irrit ation. Immediate ly flush eyes thoroug hly with wa ter
for at lea st 15minutes. Seek me dical at tention.

• Disposal – wear glove s to handle t he batt ery and dispose of im mediately
following local ordinances or regulati ons.

CAUTI ON:

The bat tery used in this d evice may p resent a risk of fire or chemical bu rn if
mistre ated. Do not disassemble, shor t conta cts, heat above 140°F(60 °C),
or incinerate. Repl ace bat tery with a Dyso n battery only, use o f any other batter y
may pres ent a risk of f ire or expl osion. Dispose of use d battery prom ptly. Keep
away from children. D o not disassemble and do not dispo se of in fire.

• The bat tery must be rem oved from the Dyson h andheld vacuum bef ore it
is scrapp ed.

• The bat tery is to be dispo sed of saf ely.

• The Dyson handheld vacuum must be disc onnected from th e supply mains when

removing the bat tery.

• Batt ery can b e charged on or off th e handhel d vacuum. Take cau tion when
removing the bat tery.

to the applicable collectio n point for the recycling of elec trical and elect ronic
equipme nt – this may b e your local civic amenity site. By ensuring this product

Dyson s hall not be li able for costs of rep air or repla cement of a product incurred

• Reduc tion in bat tery discharge time due to ba tter y age or use.

• Industrial use of t he Dyson handheld vacuum such as vacuumin g gyprock d ust

or builders dust ma y void your guarantee.

• Accide ntal damage, faults caused by negligent u se or care, ne glect, careless
operat ion or handling of the Dy son handheld vacuum which is not in
accorda nce with this Dyson Operating Manual.

• Blockag es – pleas e refer to this Dyson O perating Manual f or details on how to
unblock y our Dyso n handhel d vacuum.

• Use of the D yson han dheld vacuum for any thing oth er than nor mal domestic
purpos es.

• Use of par ts not as semble d or installed in accordance with the inst ructio ns

• Use of par ts and ac cessor ies other than those produced or recomm ended
