When using an electrical appliance, basic pre cautions should always be followed, including the following:

WARNING

1. Do not leave the Dyson vacuum cleane r when plugged in. Unplug from socket when not in use and before
servicing.

2. Do not use outdoors or on wet sur faces. Suitable for dry locations only. Do not use to pick up water.

3. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necess ary when used by or near children. Children should be
supervised to ensure tha t they do not play with the Dyson vacuum cleaner.

4. This Dyson vacuum cleaner is not intende d for use by young children or infirm persons with reduced physical,
sensory or reasoning capabilities, or lac k of experience and knowledge, unless they have be en given supervision
or instruction by a responsible pe rson concerning use of the Dyson vacuum cleaner to ensure th at they can use the
Dyson vacuum cleaner safely.

5. Use only as described in this Dyson O perating Manual. Use only Dyson recommende d accessories and replacement
parts. Do not carr y out any maintenance other than that shown in this Dyson O perating Manual, or advised by the
Dyson Customer Care Helpline. Contac t the Dyson Customer Care Helpline when ser vice or repair is required. Do
not disassemble the Dyson vacuum cle aner as incorrect reassembly may result in an ele ctric shock or fire.

6. Do not use with a damaged cable or plug. If the D yson vacuum cleaner is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropp ed into water, do not use and contact the Dyson Customer Care
Helpline. If the supply cable is damaged it mus t be replaced by Dyson, its service ag ent or similarly qualified person
in order to avoid a hazard.

7. Do not pull or carry by the cable, use the cable as a han dle, close a door on the cable, or pull the cable around
sharp edges or corners. Do not r un the Dyson vacuum cleaner over the cable. Keep the cable away f rom heated
surfaces. To avoid a tripping hazard rewind the cable when not in use.

8. Always extend the c able to the red line but do not stretch or tug the cable.

9. Do not unplug by pulling on the cable. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cable.

10. Do not handle the plug or Dyson vacuum cleane r with wet hands.

11. Do not put any object into openings. Do not us e with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything
that may reduce airflow.

12. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from op enings and moving parts, such as the brush
bar. Do not point the hose, wand or tools at your eyes or ears or put them in your mouth.

13. Turn off all controls before unplugging.

14. Use extra care when cleaning on s tairs. Do not work with the Dyson vacuum cleaner above you on the s tairs.

15. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as pe trol, or use in areas where they or their vapours
may be present.

16. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigare ttes, matches, or hot ashes.

17. Do not use without the clear bin and filter in pla ce.

18. Hold the plug when rewinding onto the cable reel. Do no t allow the plug to whip when rewinding.

19. The use of an extension cable is not recom mended.

USING YOUR DYSON VACUUM CLEAN ER

PLEASE N OTE:

• Always ex tend the cable ful ly to the red tape befor e use.

• Fine dust su ch as plaster or flou r should only be vacuume d in very
small amounts .

• Do not use th e vacuum cleaner to pick up s harp hard objects , such as small toys,
pins, paper clip s etc.

• If used in a ga rage, care should be taken t o wipe the soleplate a nd wheels with
a dry cloth af ter vacuuming to clean o ff any sand, dirt, or peb bles which could
damage delica te floors.

• When vacu uming, certain carp ets may generate sm all static charges in t he clear
bin. These are en tirely harmless and n ot associated with t he main supply. To
minimise any ef fect from this, do not pu t your hand or insert a ny object into the
clear bin unles s you have emptied it and r insed it out with cold w ater.

• Only use par ts recommende d by Dyson; failure to do so co uld invalidate
your guarante e.

• Do not use any lu bricants, cleanin g agents, polishes or a ir fresheners on any
part of the vac uum cleaner.

• This vacuum c leaner is fitted w ith a thermal cut-ou t. If any part of the vacu um
cleaner bec omes blocked the mach ine may overheat and a utomatically shut
‘OFF’. If this happen s, switch ‘OFF’ and unp lug the vacuum cleane r and allow to
cool before at tempting to check t he filter or for blocka ges. Clear any blockag es
before rest arting.

• Store the va cuum cleaner indoor s. Do not use or store this v acuum cleaner
below 0°C . Ensure that the vacuum c leaner is at room temp erature before
operating.

EMPT YING THE CLEA R BIN

CAUTION:

• Switch ‘OF F’ the vacuum cleaner a nd unplug before empt ying the clear bin.

• Empty as s oon as the dirt reach es the level of the MA X mark – do not overf ill.

• To remove the cle ar bin from the vacuum cle aner, press the silver but ton at
the rear of cycl one carrying hand le. To release the dirt, pre ss the silver butto n on
the front of the cl ear bin and separate t he cyclone unit from th e clear bin.

• To minimise dust/all ergen contact whe n emptying, encas e the clear bin tightly
in a plastic bag a nd empty. Remove the cle ar bin carefully and se al bag tightly,
dispose as nor mal. Emptying into a ba g is recommended fo r people with
asthma and alle rgies.

• Do not use th e vacuum cleaner with out the clear bin in place .

CLEANIN G THE CLEAR BIN

CAUTION:

• To remove the cyc lone unit from the clea r bin press the silver bu tton on the front
of the clear bin an d separate the cyclo ne unit from the clear bi n.

• Clean the cl ear bin with cold water o nly.

• Ensure the c lear bin is completel y dry before replaci ng.

PLEASE N OTE:

• Do not use de tergents, polishe s or air fresheners to cl ean the clear bin.

• Do not put th e clear bin in a dishwasher.

• Clean the sh roud with a cloth or dry b rush to remove lint and dus t.

WASHING YOUR FILTER

• Ensure the f ilter is completely d ry before refit ting to the vacuum clea ner.

filter regul arly and wash at least e very 6 months accord ing to instruction s, to
maintain per formance.

• After w ashing please leave f or 24 hours to dry comple tely.

• The filte r may require more frequ ent washing if vacuumin g fine dust.

• Do not use de tergents to clean th e filter.

• Do not put th e filter in a dishwasher, wash ing machine, tumble dr yer, oven,
microwave or nea r a naked flame.

LOOKING FOR BLOCK AGES

CAUTION:

• Switch ‘OF F’ and unplug the vacuum c leaner before che cking for blockages.

• Beware of sh arp objects when c learing blockages .

• Refit all p arts of the vacuum cle aner securely befo re using.

PLEASE N OTE:

• Clearing b lockages is not covere d by your vacuum cleaner ’s limited guarantee.
If any part of you r vacuum cleaner bec omes blocked, it may ove rheat and then
automatical ly shut ‘OFF’. Unplug the vacu um cleaner and leave to c ool down.
Clear blockag e before restart ing.

• Large item s may block the tools or w and inlet, if this happen s switch the vacuum
cleaner ‘OFF ’ and unplug the vacuum cl eaner before removi ng the blockage.

The details of th e Dyson guarantee a re set out below. In additi on to your rights
under the Dys on guarantee, we also pro vide the following st atement as required
by the Australi an Consumer Law: In Au stralia, your Dyson va cuum cleaner
comes with st atutory guarant ees that cannot be exc luded under the Aus tralian
Consumer Law. You are en titled to a replacem ent or refund for a major f ailure
and for compen sation for any other re asonably foresee able loss or damage.
You are also entitle d to have your Dyson vacu um cleaner repaired o r replaced if
it fails to be of acc eptable quality an d the failure does not amo unt to a
major failure.

• The Dyso n guarantee become s effective fro m the date of purchase.

Ltd. (NZ), Sin gapore’s authorised ag ent - Service @H ome Pte Ltd., Indones ia’s
authorised a gent - PT Higienis In donesia or their auth orised agents.

• Any par ts replaced will bec ome the propert y of Dyson Applianc es (Aust) Pty Ltd .,
Avery Robins on Ltd. (NZ), Dyson S ingapore Pte Ltd. o r PT Higienis Indone sia.

• The repair a nd replacement of you r vacuum cleaner unde r Dyson guarantee w ill
not extend th e Dyson guarantee p eriod.

• The Dyso n guarantee provide s benefits which are a dditional to and do not
affect yo ur statutory rig hts and remedies as a co nsumer.

• You must provid e proof of (both the origin al and any subsequent) d elivery/
purchase bef ore any work can be carrie d out on your vacuum clea ner. Without
this proof, any work ca rried out pursuant t o the Dyson guarante e and any
associated d elivery charges (b oth to and from us) will be at y our cost, subject to
your statuto ry rights and reme dies as a consumer. Pleas e keep your receipt or
delivery no te.

WHAT IS COVERED

Your Dyson guaran tee covers:

• The repair o r replacement of your v acuum cleaner if your va cuum cleaner is
found to be defe ctive due to fault y materials, workma nship or function wi thin
2 years of purcha se (if any part is no long er available or out of man ufacture,
Dyson will rep lace it with a functi onal replacement pa rt).

• Use of the vac uum cleaner in the coun try of purchase.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED

Under your Dy son guarantee, Dyso n shall not be liable for co sts of repair or
replacemen t of a product incurred a s a result of:

• Normal we ar and tear (e.g. fuse, bel t, brush bar).

• Industr ial use of the vacuum clea ner such as vacuuming gy prock dust or builder s
dust may void you r Dyson guarantee.

• Acciden tal damage, faults cau sed by negligent use or c are, neglect, carele ss
operation or h andling of the vacuum cle aner which is not in accor dance with this
Dyson Oper ating Manual.

• Blockage s – please refer to this D yson Operating M anual for details on how to
unblock your vac uum cleaner.

• Use of the vac uum cleaner for any thing other than norm al domestic purpos es in
the country o f purchase.

• Use of par ts not assembled or in stalled in accordan ce with the instruc tions
of Dyson.

• Use of par ts and accessorie s other than those pro duced or recommend ed
by Dyson.

• Damage fr om external source s such as transit, weath er, electrical outag es or
power surges.

• Failures ca used by circumstance s outside Dyson’s cont rol.

• Repairs or a lterations carrie d out by parties oth er than Dyson or its
authorised a gents.

If your Dyson g uarantee does not app ly, you may have statuto ry rights and
remedies avai lable to you as a consumer.

Remember: A lways disconnec t plug from mains before i nspecting for prob lems.

• If your vacuu m cleaner will not oper ate, first check the m ains socket has
electrici ty supply and that th e plug is properly inse rted into the socket.

• Sucking up cer tain items such as stockings, clip pings of cloth, sizeable pieces of
paper etc may block th e hose or ducts. Should a blockage o ccur, first disconnect
the vacuum cleaner from t he electricity supply an d refer to the ‘Looking for
blockages’ sectio n in this Dyson Operating Manua l (see pages 4,5 and 8).

• Never pick u p hot cinders or lit cigare tte ends.

• Do not att empt to pick up water wit h your vacuum cleaner. It ha s not been
designed as a we t pick up cleaner.
