Please read this instruction manual thoroughly before using your new appliance. It is important to keep these instructions for future reference. If the appliance becomes faulty during regular use, it should only be repaired by an authorised service engineer. The manufacturer is not responsible if the appliance becomes damaged or defective as a result of the user not following the information included in this manual.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

The following safety instructions must be followed when using the appliance. Please read this section very carefully!

It’s not possible for us to anticipate or provide safety rules for every specic situation. Please apply commonsense precautions when using the appliance in a situation that isn’t described below.

• This appliance has been designed for indoor use at home. It is not suitable for any other use, including heavy duty, commercial or professional applications. You must not use the appliance outside under any circumstances.

• This device is not supposed to be used by physically or mentally handicapped people, or persons without experience or knowledge (including children, as well), unless such a person supervises or guides their use of the device, who is at the same time responsible for their safety. As for children, supervision is recommended to make sure that they do not play with the device. This device is not supposed to be used by children under the age of 14, not even with supervision!

• You must not use or attach any additional parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer. Using them may cause an accident or other problems with the appliance.

• Don't put the appliance near hot objects (e.g. oven, hob, heater etc.) or on any hot surface.

• Don’t place the appliance anywhere it could slide down, fall or be knocked over accidentally.

• Don't use the appliance in the presence of explosive or inammable gases, vapours or liquids.

• Avoid using the appliance where it would be subjected to very high or low temperatures; it should only be operated and stored at temperatures between +10°C and +40°C.

• Don't use the appliance in a wet or damp environment.

• Don't use the appliance where it will be subjected to jarring or vibration.

• If your appliance is damaged or operates in an abnormal way, immediately stop using it and take it to an authorised service engineer for checking, repair or adjustment.

• The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage that results from incorrect operation, incorrect maintenance/cleaning or disregarding the instructions contained in this manual. In addition, the manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by any parts of the appliance breaking or cracking during use.

• The manufacturer is not responsible for replacing any parts that are designed to require replacement in the course of normal use (including the cleaning mop that ts to the steam head).

All electrical and mechanical equipment needs to be cared for appropriately. It’s important to note that using or storing this appliance in certain conditions may adversely aect its lifespan and functionality. Always protect the appliance from the conditions listed below.

Using or storing the appliance in a wet, humid or damp environment can cause:

- deterioration and premature aging of the cover and electric insulation of the appliance,

- premature wearing and aging of the plastic and rubber components,

- rust and corrosion aecting electrical components and metal parts.

Using the appliance in a dusty environment or in a kitchen (where the air may be contaminated with cooking oil or grease) can cause:

- the casing of the appliance to become coated in greasy dust, resulting in damage to plastic and rubber parts,

- the mechanical/electrical components to become coated in greasy dust, resulting in electrical failure and even complete breakdown of the appliance.

Direct sunshine can cause:

- premature aging of the appliance,

- deterioration of the plastic and rubber parts, resulting in a risk to the user’s safety.

Continuous heavy use can cause:

- premature wear,

- the steam nozzles to become clogged with corrosion deposits, particularly if untreated tap water is used,

- deterioration of parts due to the eect of frequent heating,

- electrical elements to overheat.

Storing the appliance in a frosty or cold environment can cause:

- plastic and rubber parts to become fragile, resulting in a risk to the user’s safety,

- rust and corrosion aecting electrical components and metal parts.

Direct and indirect heat (e.g. being too close to an oven or a heating appliance) can cause:

- damage, deformation, softening or melting of plastic and rubber parts,

- deterioration of electrical insulation, resulting in a risk to the user’s safety.

Following the instructions in this manual and avoiding any of the conditions listed above will help you increase the lifespan of the appliance. The manufacturer is not responsible for any situation caused by your failure to follow these instructions.

You are also recommended to have the appliance checked regularly by an authorised service engineer to keep it working for as long as possible.

Please respect the environment when the appliance reaches the end of its life. Electrical products must not be disposed of with other residential waste because they can damage the natural world and may be hazardous to human health. You should dispose of the appliance at an appropriate recycling site or by using a collection service that specialises in electrical appliances.

• The appliance must not be used or connected to the mains if it is defective, if it has been dropped, if is working erratically or if the mains cable is damaged. Under these circumstances, stop using the appliance immediately and take it to an authorised service engineer for checking, repair or adjustment.

• To avoid the risk of electric shock, never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Never touch the appliance with wet hands. Connect and disconnect the power cable with dry hands only. If any moisture gets inside the casing of the appliance, immediately stop using it and take it to a service engineer for checking or repair.

• If the appliance falls into any kind of liquid during use, immediately disconnect it from the mains. Do not touch it or attempt to remove it from the liquid until the power has been switched o. You must not use the appliance again before having it checked by an authorised service engineer.

• The mains connector must be always disconnected from the wall socket after use and before cleaning. Never disconnect the appliance from the socket by pulling the mains cable; always grip the plug!

• Never lay the mains cable beside or across sharp corners or hot surfaces. Never wind the power cable around the casing of the appliance and do not drag or lift the appliance by the mains cable because the cable could break or the insulation might be damaged. For the same reason, prevent the power cable from getting caught under the feet of chairs or other furniture. Use the cable holders to store any excess cable. A damaged cable should only be replaced by an authorised service engineer. The appliance must not be used or connected to the mains if the cable is damaged.

• Do not let the cable touch the steam head during use or while cooling.

• Do not lengthen or alter the mains cable of the appliance. If you need a longer cable, you should buy a standard extension cable from an electrical retailer. The extension should have a protective earth connection and an electrical rating of at least 10A. (Cables with a lower electrical rating could heat up during use). Be careful not to create a hazard that you or someone else could trip over.

• If other electric appliances are being operated simultaneously using the same extension cable, their total power (current) consumption must be calculated to determine the electrical rating requirement of the extension cable.

• You must not disassemble the appliance, open its casing or to try to repair it. Ignoring this advice could cause a serious accident. There are no parts in the appliance that can be repaired at home or used for any other purpose. Only service engineers who have been trained and approved should repair the device. The manufacturer cannot take any responsibility for unauthorised repairs or for any circumstances resulting from not following the instructions.

• Do not allow anything to fall into the appliance and do not push anything into any opening on the appliance. This could cause damage resulting in electric shock.

Warning! Never leave your home - even for a short time - with the appliance turned on or connected to the mains! Always turn the appliance o and unplug the mains cable when it is not being used o. Never operate the steam mop when the water tank is empty. Never add any kind of detergent, fragrance or other chemicals to the water. Only use pure distilled water to ll the water tank; tap water could cause the formation of scale, which will result in damage and failure of the appliance.

• This appliance has been designed to clean smaller oor surfaces in your home. It shouldn’t be used for cleaning entire buildings or for cleaning large, heavily-soiled oor surfaces – these situations require a heavy duty cleaning appliance. It is not an industrial cleaner and is not intended for professional use.

• The appliance cannot clean up liquids or wet surfaces. The surface you are cleaning must be dry.

Large quantities of steam leave the steam head when the appliance is being used. The head of the steam mop must not be turned while in use and must never be directed at people, pets or plants. Touching the steam head or allowing the steam to come into contact with skin can cause severe burns. The appliance will remain hot for a while after it’s been switched o; only touch it when enough time has passed for the appliance to cool. Be careful when moving the appliance as the tank may still contain hot water.

• Before using the steam mop, remove small objects and light pieces of furniture from its path. Bumping the appliance into furniture could cause damage to the appliance and to the furniture. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by carelessness.

• Always straighten the power cable before using the appliance. Do not leave any knots, kinks or loops in the cable.

• When you stop using the steam mop – even for a short time – always remove the plug from the mains socket and turn o the steam by rotating the steam ow control clockwise (to CLOSE). The appliance must not be left unattended even for a short period if it is turned on.

• When switching the appliance o, never use the cable to remove the plug from the mains socket. Always hold the plug and pull it from the socket.

• Before cleaning the appliance, always remove the plug from the mains socket and turn o the steam by rotating the steam ow control clockwise (to CLOSE).

• Do not leave water in the tank for a long time.

• Only ll or drain the water tank if the appliance is switched o and disconnected from the mains.

Please keep this instruction manual. If you give the appliance to anyone else, you must give them this instruction manual, too!

POWER SUPPLY

The appliance must only be connected to 230V~ 50Hz mains electricity with a protective earth connection. Always ensure that the mains voltage where you’re using the device corresponds to the value shown on the appliance.

PREPARING THE STEAM MOP

1. Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials. Never leave the nylon storage bag within the reach of children who could play with it.

2. Carefully inspect the appliance and the accessories to make sure everything is complete and undamaged.

You should only use the appliance if it is complete and has not suered any damage.

3. Assemble the handle.

a) Slip the grip (part no.1) onto the shorter handle piece (part no.2) so that the lugs coincide with

the holes on the side of the grip. Fit the lugs into the holes to attach the grip.

b) Insert the longer handle piece (part no.3) into the socket on the appliance (part no.5) so that

the lugs face outwards, towards the open part of the socket. Insert the handle as far as necessary to x it rmly in the hole on the casing.

c) Connect the handle piece with the grip (parts 1 and 2) to the rest of the appliance by using

the plastic inset (part no.4). Turn the handle pieces when attaching them to the inset so that the grip is positioned correctly.

d) Clip the power cable into the cable clip (part no.7) on the grip.

Do not use excessive force or sharp movements when assembling the handle as this could break the handle or the socket. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage or breakage caused by forcing the parts.

4. Place the cleaning mop (part no.14) on the steam head (part no.12). Slightly loosen the string at the edge of the mop to ease the mop onto the head, then fasten the string.

5. Check that the steam ow control knob (part no.8) is turned clockwise to the closed (CLOSE) position before use. The mop should only be lled with water when the steam ow is closed and the appliance is switched o.

6. Unscrew the cap (part no.10) from the water inlet (part no.11) on the upper part of the appliance and ll the tank with 300ml of distilled water. Use the measuring cup (supplied with the mop) to ll it with water. 300ml is the maximum water capacity of the appliance and will allow approximately 20 minutes of cleaning at the maximum position of the steam ow control. Do not pour too much water into the tank as the water could escape during use.

Never use the appliance with an empty water tank. Do not pour hot water into the water tank or add any kind of detergent, cleaning agent or other chemicals to the water. Do not use tap water as this will cause scale, resulting in damage to the appliance. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by scaling.

USING THE STEAM MOP

The steam mop is only suitable for cleaning internal, smooth, horizontal, hard oor surfaces made of wood, marble, tile or plastic. It cannot be used to clean uneven oor surfaces, stairs, carpets or external areas. The appliance should only be connected to mains electricity after it has been lled with water and the mop (part no.14) has been secured. Using the appliance without the mop could cause an accident, including damage to the oor surface and damage to the appliance. Do not use the appliance if the electrical cable is lying on the oor and not secured in the cable clip. Always sweep or vacuum clean the oor before using the steam mop. Please note that the manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by failure to follow these instructions.

1. The appliance will start working as soon as the power cable is connected to the mains. The indicator lamp on the front of the appliance (part no.9) will glow red to show that water is being heated. The steam ow control knob (part no.8) must be kept in the closed position when the water is being heated. When the steam mop reaches its maximum temperature of 110°C -130°C, the lamp will change to green. You can now open the steam ow control by gently turning the knob anti-clockwise. The amount of steam can be regulated by the amount the knob is turned (up to the "MAX OPEN" position). This steam can disinfect surfaces and clean dirt from the oor. If the control knob is turned when the light is still red and the steam head is not hot enough, hot water might escape from the steam head. This could damage certain oor surfaces.

2. Push the steam mop slowly forward and backward on the surface you want to clean. Heavily soiled surfaces (e.g. with oil stains, very dusty areas or locations in need of increased disinfection, such as pets' favourite places) may need to be cleaned for longer and more thoroughly or repeatedly.

You should avoid long cleaning times for lacquered and glazed surfaces because the hot steam could melt the coating and damage the oor material. Do not use the appliance on heavily worn oor surfaces that are not properly protected against moisture. Take care not to push the mop over the power cable when cleaning. Do not leave the appliance switched on and resting on the oor when it is not being used for cleaning.

3. After nishing your cleaning (or even if taking a short break) you should stop the steam ow by turning the steam ow control knob clockwise and then remove the power cable from the mains wall socket. The steam head should be placed on a heat and moisture resistant surface of plastic or stone until it cools down.

4. If the volume of steam coming from the appliance is no longer sucient for cleaning, you should check to see if the water tank has emptied. Before relling the water tank, turn the steam ow control knob to the closed position and switch o the appliance.

Always wash and dry the mop (part no.14) after cleaning. The mop will eventually become dirty and worn, depending on the intensity and frequency of use. The manufacturer's warranty does not cover the replacement of these mops.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Warning! Always turn the steam ow control knob clockwise into the closed position and remove the power cable from the mains socket before cleaning the appliance. Start cleaning ONLY after the appliance has cooled. Never immerse the appliance in water or place it under running water.

• After the appliance has cooled down, pour out the water and place the appliance on a heat-proof surface. Connect the power cable to the mains socket and open the steam ow control when the lamp turns green. Wait for all the steam to escape, then remove the power cable from the mains socket. Allow the appliance to cool down again.

• Clean the outside cover of the appliance with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth and then wipe the surfaces again with a dry lint-free cloth. Take care not to allow any moisture inside the cover.

• Remove the cleaning mop from the appliance after use. Wash it thoroughly with detergent and water.

• Make sure the appliance and the cleaning mop are completely dry before storing them or using them again.

• Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. Never use solvents (including acetone, benzene or petrol) to clean the appliance because these materials could dissolve the plastic cover and damage the internal components.

STORING THE STEAM MOP

• Only pack and store the appliance when it is cool, dry and clean.

• Never allow water to remain in the water tank after use.

• When the appliance isn’t being used, wind the power cable around the cable holders (part no.6) on the lower and upper sections of the handle. The cable holders can be turned round to remove the cable without unwinding it.

• If the appliance isn’t going to be used for a while, remove the cleaning mop from the steam head. Place the appliance in the nylon storage bag and store it (with its accessories) in a dry, dust-free and frost-free place.
