Beneath the elegant, yet understated

facade of the Audience 72 SE lies the

pinnacle of performance for the
Dynaudio Audience range: Following

the company’s fine tradition of crafting
“Special Edition” versions of already
highly refined models, the universally
acclaimed Audience 72 receives the
“SE” treatment. While measuring the
exact same dimensions as the stan­dard Audience 72, the 72 SE model
benefits from many performance
enhancements.

Dynaudio Audience 72 SE

Mid/Bass

The mid/bass drivers were updated
as well, with the 72 SE model featuring
extremely high-performance units
derived from Dynaudio’s venerable
Contour 1.8 Mk II, and using an extre­mely rigid, die-cast aluminium frame
basket, the characteristic Dynaudio
MSP (Magnesium-Silicate-Polymer)
one-piece cone, a large (75 mm) diame­ter pure aluminium wire voice coil, and
a powerful centered magnet system.

Cross-over

A completely new cross-over design
was also developed to harmoniously
integrate the new tweeter and woofers
within the Audience 72 SE’s cabinet.
For the SE, this new filter features high
quality components throughout, inclu­ding low-loss inductors, capacitors
with low-loss dielectric, and zero-com-

pression ceramic resistors, all mounted
securely onto the rigid circuit board,
thus negating any adverse effects of
vibration or resonance. High-quality,
gold-plated insulated binding posts,
mounted onto a solid terminal plate
itself sourced directly from the former
Contour 1.8 Mk II, are utilized.

Cabinet

The driver complement is effectively in­tegrated into the anti-resonant, 25 mm
thick front baffle. As in the standard
model 72, the 72 SE cabinet is internally
braced and treated with layers of dam­ping material to further eliminate un­wanted resonance.With a choice of
fine Cherry, Rosewood, Black Ash or
Maple natural wood veneer finishes,
the speakers will easily integrate into
any room or décor. While its finish is
truly furniture-grade, its advanced
performance and highly refined sonic
presentation will ideally complement
any audiophile-grade music or
theater system.

Sound quality

The Audience 72 SE sets a new perfor­mance standard for floor-standing
loudspeakers in its price-range, even
improving upon on the highly renowned
and illustrious model Contour 1.8 Mk II
from which it was derived. Despite all
of the technical enhancements, the
price difference between the original
Audience 72 and its Audience 72 SE
sibling is relatively modest.

Tweeter

The tweeter, a new Esotec variant
originally developed for the recently
introduced Dynaudio Contour S series
models, features a powerful magnet
system, an innovative resonance dam­ping rear chamber, and a multiple-coated
fabric soft dome with an aluminium
wire voice coil.
