Iron Powder Cores
DX Engineering Iron Powder Cores are used by electronics designers and radio hobbyists to build cost effective RF inductors for MF to UHF circuit board applications as well as for RF suppression. Iron powder cores are typically made in smaller toroid form and are used to build special inductors used in critical receiving circuits and low power electronic filter applications. They are not used in Baluns as they have much lower power handling capabilities than ferrite toroids. However, with lower permeability, iron powder inductor cores work much better than ferrite in high temperatures environments, inside hot equipment. Additionally, inductors wound on iron powder cores produce less electro-magnetic interference to adjacent circuits. Therefore, they are often used in devices subject to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing. DX Engineering Iron Powder Cores are available in popular material numbers and sizes.
