Copper Strap Clamp
1-1/2 through 2 inch Strap
to 5/8 or 3/4 inch Ground Rod
DXE-58R-112S-2
The DXE-58R-112S-2 Copper Strap Clamps bond 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch ground rods to low impedance 2 inch copper strap for high performance grounding installations.
Copper strap may be cut and used to shim strap to rod clearance if needed. Two inch strap will pass through the clamp set without having to be cut having holes drilled.
Using this copper clamp is faster and easier than building up the joint for an exothermic weld 1/4 inch 18-8 Stainless Steel hardware is included
The Ground Rod should already be in place. The rod, strap (2 inch copper straps) and copper clamping plates must be thoroughly cleaned to remove any oxidation. All connections must be generously coated with a conductive joint compound such as JTL-12555 Jet-Lube SS-30 Pure Copper AntiSeize Copper joint compound, available from DX Engineering. All connections must be generously coated with conductive joint compound to prevent moisture penetration. DX Engineering’s DXE-CCK Copper Cleaning Kit contains the proper joint cleaning compound, brush and cleaning pad to properly prepare the copper surfaces. Position strap into the copper clamping plates and ground rod then secure with the included stainless steel hardware. Tighten the bolts evenly. Do not over tighten. The JTL-12555 Jet-Lube SS-30 Pure Copper Anti-Seize Copper Paste may be used on the threads to prevent galling or seizing of stainless steel hardware.
Note: Some distortion of the plates may occur while tightening. If using a smaller diameter ground rod, copper strap may be cut and used to shim strap to rod clearance.
