5. NAMES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE CONTROL PANEL PARTS
This button is used to memorize the stopping position of the folding stopper, stacker, etc. when moved in special folding modes such as cross folding and non-fixed folding modes, etc. Up to two registration methods can be memorized. Once memorized, the registered data is preserved even after the power is turned off. To erase the registered data, keep pressing the corresponding registration button (1) or (2) until the buzzer sounds. This button is used to register the correction value when the folding stopper is adjusted finely in the fixed folding mode. Up to 36 types (No. of fixed folding modes x paper type) of correction values can be registered. To erase the registration, select the folding mode of the corresponding paper size to be delected and continue pressing this button until the buzzer sounds. This window displays the number of processed sheets (counter), the values input for paper length, error messages, etc.
This window displays the size of paper placed on the paper feed table which is automatically determined (fixed sizes of A3 to B6). Also displays the operation state “ O . P” when the paper length is input. This window displays six types of fixed folding modes. The display lamp blinks when a mode registered for folding correction is selected. This lamp lights up when the special folding mode is set. This mode cannot be selected if no special folding method has been registered.

6-2. PRECAUTIONS FOR STACKING PAPER
If the paper is not stacked neatly on the paper feed table, the unit will not be able to read the size of the paper accurately and as a result, may determine the paper as outside the standard size. Therefore, be sure to stack the paper neatly.
The paper feed table has a built-in device for reading paper size. Take note that this device will not be able to read the paper size correctly if the paper is stacked unevenly. This may as a result cause problems.
Automatic paper size detection can be carried out for paper up to ±2.5 mm of the fixed paper.
If the paper is not stacked properly lengthwise, mis-feed or chain feed may occur.
When stacking just a few sheets of paper on the paper feed table, lower the paper set lever while pressing the back edge of the paper.

7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
10 Press the “test” button and perform
test folding.
• Two sheets of paper will be folded.
Even after two folded sheets of paper have been ejected, the machine will not stop working when the stop button is pressed until the buzzer sounds and the motor inside stops completely. The unit will not respond to whatever button on the control panel is pressed.
• The paper will be folded properly if it is folded after it has reached the stopper inside the folding plate.
• If the paper flowing into the folding plate is folded without reaching the stopper due to conditions such as environmental conditions (temperature, humidity), paper quantity, its type, paper couch conditions, folding speed, curling etc., it may not be folded properly.
• In some cases, the paper may also coil around the rubber roll and cause problems.
• As such problems can be corrected by decreasing the folding speed, keep decreasing the speed until the paper is folded properly.
23
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
11 Check the folded paper for testing.
• Proceed onto the next step if the sheets of paper have been folded satisfactorily.
Check the second ejected paper to confirm that folding is performed correctly.
• If the sheets of paper have not been folded satisfactorily, refer to the following steps.
ó
If folding has slipped in the vertical direction: Press the “folding stopper adjustment” button and adjust the folding slippage. Refer to “Adjusting the folding slippage in the vertical direction” on page 36.
ò
If the folding has slipped in the horizontal direction: Rotate the “slant correction knob” and adjust the folding slippage. Refer to “Adjusting the folding slippage in the horizontal direction” on page 40.

9. USING ART/COATED PAPER
Art/coated paper are difficult to fold as their printed surfaces tend to stick together easily and cause double feeding.
When folding such a kind of paper, observe the following precautions before starting folding operations.
1 Loosen the paper thoroughly.
2 Next arrange the paper neatly and
stack them on the paper feed table.
3 For other precautions, refer to
“Precautions for Stacking Paper” on page 16.
9-1. PRECAUTIONS FOR STACKING PAPER
Paper
Paper set lever
42
9-2. OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
1 If double-feed occurs frequently and
cannot be corrected, reduce the amount of paper on the paper feed table until the middle of the guide (approx. 25mm)
As the specific gravity of this type of paper is higher than that of normal paper, they tend to stick together, causing double-feeding to occur frequently. The amount of paper loaded on the table is therefore reduced.
2 Adjust the paper feed pressure
adjusting lever to “3”.
• If the paper slips, gradually raise the paper feed pressure one level at a time , from “3” to “4”, until the appropriate paper feed pressure is obtained.
• When the paper slips, the display shows “-¡-” and the unit will stop. Raise the paper feed pressure one level when the unit stops.
Set the paper feed pressure within the range of 3 to 5.
3 Next, open the top cover and adjust
the separator pressure.
• Set the separator pressure adjusting dial to “2.5”.
• If the paper sticks and several sheets of paper are fed at one time (double feeding), gradually raise the separator pressure adjusting dial 0.5 at a time until the appropriate separator pressure is obtained.
Set the separator pressure within the range of
2.5 to 3.5.
• The separator pressure may have to be set to 3.5 or above if the paper feed ring or paper separator, etc. is worn out. But try to set the pressure at the lowest level possible.
