Notes on Safety (Please Read and Observe)
Safety Precautions
Various symbols and pictures are used in this manual and on the stickers affixed to the machine. These symbols and pictures provide warnings and instructions to prevent danger to you or other personnel, and to prevent damage to office property. The meanings of these symbols and pictures are explained below.
WARNING :
Indicates a high degree of potential danger. If the warning is ignored, death or serious injury may result.
CAUTION :
Indicates a medium degree of potential danger. If the caution is ignored, medium injury or damage to property may result.
<Examples of Pictorial Symbols>
A circle with a line through it indicates a prohibited action. The particular act prohibited is indicated by a picture inside the circle. (In the example shown here, the prohibited act is disassembly.)
A black disc indicates an instruction, or sometimes a prohibited action.
The instruction itself is indicated by pictorial symbols drawn in white on the disc. (In the example shown here, the instruction is remove the plug from the outlet.)
Precautions for use
WARNING
If the machine is used after foreign matter (metal fragments, water, or liquid) has entered the machine, this may result in fire or electric shock.
Turn the main unit’s power switch OFF, and then remove the power plug from the
outlet. Contact the sales distributor.
If the machine is used after heat, smoke, strange smell, or other abnormality is
detected, this may result in fire or electric shock.
Turn the main unit’s power switch OFF, and then remove the power plug from the
outlet. Contact the sales distributor.
Do not insert or drop metal, flammable material, or other matter through the
ventilation holes into the machine interior.
Doing so may result in fire or electric shock.
Keep the machine away from a pin, wire or other metallic or foreign objects.
Do not allow liquid to enter the machine through its openings or gaps.
Malfunctions and a fire or electric shock may result.
Do not place flower vases, flowerpots, cups, or water containers (including metal
containers) on top of the machine.
Fire or electric shock may result if liquid spills inside the machine.
Page 7
- 6 -
Installation location
WARNING
Do not place the machine in a humid or dusty area.
It may cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not place the machine in a humid place or area exposed to water.
Insulation may deteriorate causing a fire or electric shock.
Do not place the machine on an unstable or sloping surface.
If the machine drops or falls over, it may result in injury.
Be sure to unplug the power supply cord before moving the machine. Failing to do so may damage the power supply cord causing a fire or electric
shock.
Preventing injury to hands or fingers
WARNING
Do not touch the rotating part or do not put things in the machine while it is running.
Your hands or fingers may get caught in the machinery and injured.
Use tweezers or a similar tool to remove jammed paper.
Be sure to unplug the power supply cord in order to prevent an electric shock.
Unplug the power supply cord before removing jammed paper.
Caution for Grounding
WARNING
Use only the power cord that is provided among the accessories. Insert the power cord plug firmly into the socket, so that proper electrical contact is effected. Use of any other power cord could result in imperfect grounding.
If grounding is imperfect and electrical leakage occurs, fire or electric shock could result.
Page 8
- 7 -
Power supply and power supply cord
WARNING
Use only the specified voltage. Never plug multiple cords into a single outlet.
It may cause a fire or electric shock.
Be sure to remove dust on the power plug and/or the outlet. Using these without
removing dust may have minute electric current flow to the surface due to the humidity and cause a fire due to the heat.
It may cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not insert or remove the plug with wet hands. It may cause electric shock.
Use only the power cord that is provided among the accessories. Do not cut, modify,
bend, twist, pull, bundle or place a heavy object.
It may cause a fire or electric shock.
CAUTION
Remove the power plug itself, not the cord. Tugging the cord may damage it (expose conductors, or cause disconnections,
etc.), resulting in fire or electric shock.
If the following situation happens, immediately stop use and turn off the power switch, and disconnect the power plug from the outlet. And then contact our distributor.
When the machine emits smoke or outside of the machine gets abnormally hot When the machine sounds or smells abnormally When water gets inside the machine
Using the machine as is may cause a fire.
Prohibition of Disassembly or Modification
WARNING
Do not modify the machine. Doing so may result in fire or electric shock.
Do not remove the rear lid, cabinet, or covers from the machine. The inside of the machine contains high-voltage parts, which may cause electric
shock.
Cleaning
WARNING
Before cleaning the machine, turn off the power switch and unplug the power supply
cord.
If the machine is activated accidentally, injury may result.
Do not use flammable sprays or solvents inside or near the machine.
Gas may accumulate inside the machine causing a fire or explosion.

.Paper Handling
Flatten paper with folds or wrinkle or curls before using.
Completely dry print ink on the paper before using.
CAUTION
Using paper with print ink not dried completely will stain fold roller and this will cause trouble such as stain on the paper.
Use paper cut precisely.
WARNING
If the squareness of the paper is not precisely, this will cause trouble such as fold skew.
Fully fan papers when right after copied or printed.
WARNING
Paper right after copied or printed contains much static electricity. If the papers are not fully fanned, this will cause trouble such as double feed.
When the paper is set to the manual slot of the DC-SC1, please confirm the right side/other side and leading edge/rear edge of the paper. When confirming the finish after test fold, check fold skew and the right side/other side and leading edge/rear edge of the paper. [ Example] When the paper (right side: colored, other side: white) is folded by the fold mode
as below.
V-fold has 2 directions to be folded (1V-fold and 2V-fold). When 1V-fold is selected, the paper is folded as shown above. When 2V-fold is selected, it is folded in reverse direction. (Refer to 1-1. Fold type on page 28.)

6. Connecting with Other Units
The DC-F1 cannot be used by itself. When feeding paper to this unit, you need other unit to be connected such as DC machine (DC-645/DC-615/DC-445) and DC-SC1. Please use the DC-F1 in appropriate combinations for your environment with reference to the system configuration below. Please contact our distributor/dealer or service agent for any inquiries about connected units. In the interest of upgrading our products, product system configuration is subject to change without notice. New models to be released in the future may be added to the paper feed units (DC-645/DC-615/DC-445).

1. Adjusting Fold Skew
Folding results vary even on the paper of the same size and fold skew may occur depending on paper type, thickness, print status, processing speed, etc. This unit corrects fold position in each mode individually. Correctable range is ±5mm. Fold correction dimension is cleared by turning the power off or selecting other function. At this time, the contents of the already saved JOB is not changed. The following describes the procedure to deal with fold skew.
When folded paper edge is skewed horizontally as shown in the right illustration, correct the skew with the skew adjust knob. Right illustration: Fold type is 1V.
1. Adjust the horizontal fold skew by turning the skew adjust knob.
