The CRYBABY®535 SERIES is the premier edition of the
CRYBABY series. Its rugged construction and efficient design
will give years of outstanding performance. While based on the
CRYBABY which has been a standard in the world of music
since its introduction in the late 1960’s, the CRYBABY®535
SERIES has an added variable gain up to +11dB and a special
warmer inductor, making it the most powerful addition to our
CRYBABY line.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WAH
■ By turning the 6 position Range Selector Knob on the side of
the pedal, you can select the wah range you want to use.
Turn the knob all the way counter-clockwise or toward the heel
of the pedal until it stops. This is HIGH (like the sound you hear
from the Original Crybaby pedal). Turning the knob clockwise
toward the toe of the pedal will lower the wah range to
MID/HIGH, then MID (like the vintage pedals), then
MID/LOW, then LOW, then BASS. At the BASS selection, the
knob will be all the way forward.
■ By rocking your foot back and forth on the pedal, you can
change the effect that the CRYBABY has on the tone of your
instrument instantaneously. Toe down will give you more treble,
heel down will give you more bass. The speed and amount of
effect you use depends on your style of playing.
■ When placing the pedal in one position, you will hear a boost
in that particular frequency. This boost can be used to add
sustain and create feedback of a desired overtone.
BOOST
■ By turning the knob located in the base plate of the pedal, you
control the amount of gain. Turning the knob in a clockwise
direction will increase your gain to up to +11dB. Turning the
knob in a counter-clockwise direction will decrease your gain to
0dB, or normal throughput.
TIPS
■ Listen to the classic recordings of Jimi Hendrix and Eric
Clapton. CRYBABY is used extensively. After listening to the
sound you will begin to recognize the CRYBABY in just about
every rock players repertoire.
■ When using a lot of distortion, the effect will not be as
prominent. Try setting the pedal in one position. This will help
in making artificial harmonics and controlling the amount of
feedback.

SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Insert a 9 volt battery and/or plug in AC Adapter. The
CRYBABY 535 will operate on either power source.
Notice: This unit is shipped from the factory without a
battery to prevent possible damage from leakage. A 9volt transistor radio battery must be installed for
operation if an AC adapter is not going to be used. The
adapter jack requires a 5.5/2.1mm coax plug. Most
standard 9VDC AC adapters with greater than 20ma
current capability will work.
To install the battery, remove 4 screws from the rubber
feet securing the bottom cover and insert the battery.
2. Run a cord from your instrument to the CryBaby's
Instrument Jack.
3. Run another cord from your amplifier input into the
CryBaby's Amplifier Jack. Turn on the amplifier.
4. To turn the pedal on, push the toe of the pedal all the way
down firmly until you feel a "click". To turn the pedal off, push
the toe of the pedal down again, until you feel another "click".
When the wah is on, the Green LED will light.
5. Select the desired Wah Range by turning the Range Selector
Knob located on the side of the pedal. Turning the selector all
the way toward the heel will give you the highest range, while
turning the selector all the way toward the toe will give you the
lowest range.
6. To set the boost, turn the knob on the base plate of the pedal.
Turning the knob in a clockwise direction will increase your
boost up to +11dB. Turning the knob in a counter-clockwise
direction will decrease your boost to 0dB, or normal
throughput.
7. To turn the boost On, push the Boost On/Off Button IN.
When the boost is on, the Red LED will light.
Jimi's preferred hookup was: Guitar to FuzzFace
to CRYBABY to Amplifier.
