TOASTING BREAD
SINGLE SIDE TOASTING
The Dualit conveyor toaster is a versatile
machine which can be used for toasting
or warming a variety of bread products.
Follow the instructions below for toasting
bread:
1. Set ‘Power’ knob to ‘BOTH’.
2. Allow 10 minutes for Initial warm-up.
3. Elements will cycle on and off. This is
normal.
4. For CONTINUOUS TOASTING, set
toasting’ control to triangle symbol on
the dial for medium sliced white bread.
YOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST
CONTROL FOR YOUR PARTICULAR
BREAD TYPE.
5. Use the following settings as a guide:
WARMING: 1 - 2
LIGHT2 - 5
MEDIUM5 - 7
DARK 7 - 9
ANY CHANGE TO THE ‘TOASTING’
CONTROL WILL TAKE UP TO 60
SECONDS TO TAKE EFFECT.
7. For INTERMITTENT TOASTING,
reduce continuous toasting level by 2.
8. To save energy set power switch to
‘power saver’ position when not
toasting.
The POWER SAVER function reduces
the power consumption by up to 75%.
Use during off peak periods to save
energy and keep the toaster warm,
warm-up time is 30 seconds from
power saver mode.
NOTE: Different breads will toast at
different rate. For example, wholemeal
bread takes longer to toast that white
bread. Adjust the TOASTING control
accordingly.
CAUTION: This machine is designed for
toasting bread products only. Do not
cook or heat any other food.
Disconnect power when not in operation.
You can use the conveyor toaster to warm
or toast a single side of other bread type
products such as buns, muffins, bagels
and croissants.
1. For buns and bagels and other items
requiring only one side toasting , set
the power control to ‘TOP’.
2. Adjust the ‘toasting’ control to required
settings.
DON’T FORGET, ANY CHANGE TO
THE HEAT SETTING WILL TAKE
UP TO 60 SECONDS TO TAKE
EFFECT.
3. Ensure any food product used with the
conveyor is less than 30mm thick. If
larger it may get stuck inside the
toaster.
4. Products flip over when coming off the
conveyor belt, so do not toast items
with a topping. eg. cheese on toast.
NOTE: ‘TCF’ will not be activated when
using ‘TOP’ setting.
5
TROUBLESHOOTINGCLEANING TCF
The toaster is equipment with a
thermostatically controlled device that
will automatically cycle the elements to
maintain the correct toasting
temperature.
The elements will cycle On/Off and
sometimes will appear to be Off but are
actually in automatic standby mode.
(saving 25% energy).
When bread is inserted into the toaster
the elements will automatically come
back on within 10-12 seconds.
RESET SWITCH
If for any reason the ambient
temperature in the control box exceeds
190°F (88°C) a safety cut-out is
automatically activated.
This can be reset manually by pushing the
red button underneath the toaster on the
right hand side.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE UNIT
WITHOUT CRUMB TRAY IN PLACE.
THE UNIT WILL OVERHEAT AND
ACTIVATE THE HEAT LIMIT CUTOUT.
DO NOT HOSE DOWN THE UNIT OR
TABLE/COUNTER WHICH IT IS ON
AND KEEP AWAY FROM RUNNING
WATER.
•To clean the conveyor belt: set the
‘POWER’ control to ‘POWER SAVER’.
For a lightly soiled conveyor belt, turn
conveyor speed to the slowest
setting and wipe the front of the belt
with a damp cloth.
For a heavily soiled conveyor belt,
turn conveyor speed control to
slowest setting (setting 1) and wipe
with a dry, light abrasive pad.
•After the unit cools, disconnect unit
from power, remove interior crumb
tray and clean. Slide crumb tray back
into position after cleaning.
•Never allow a build up of crumbs
in the tray as this may cause a fire.
CLEAN ON A DAILY BASIS.
•Ensure the cooling fan is clear of dust
and grease. CLEAN AIR INTAKE
FILTER COVER EVERY ONE TO
THREE MONTHS.
•
Once fully cooled.wipe exterior
surface of unit using a damp cloth
1. MY TOAST IS BURNING OR IS
UNDERDONE:
a) The ‘TOAST’ control should be set at
the triangle mark; this can be adjusted
to taste, and will take a few seconds to
settle. If toasting is too light, turn
conveyor ‘TOAST’ control
anti-clockwise to a lower speed to
darken. If toasting is too dark, turn the
‘TOAST’ control clockwise to lighten.
b) Allow 10 minutes for the conveyor to
heat up when switched on.
c) If the toaster has been left on ‘BOTH’
power without bread passing through
it, the first slices through may burn
due to build up of heat. When the
toaster is in an idle period, we advise
that the toaster is set to the ‘POWER
SAVER’ setting. This will prolong the
life of the elements and reduce
un-even toasting when used again
after the idle period.
2. MY BREAD IS GETTING STUCK
INSIDE THE TOASTER:
a) Ensure the thickness of the bread is no
thicker than 30mm or it will get stuck
and may cause a fire.

GUARANTEETROUBLESHOOTING
3. THE ELEMENTS CYCLE ON & OFF:
aa))
The toaster is equiped with a
temperature monitoring device that
will automatically cycle the elements to
ensure the perfect toasting
temperature.
The elements will cycle On/Off and
sometimes will appear to be Off but
are actually in automatic standby
mode. (saving 25% energy).
4. MY CONVEYOR IS OVERHEATING:
a) If the conveyor belt continues to run
and the elements have cut out, check
the cooling fan is running and is free of
dust and dirt. The heat limit switch
may have been activated. If the fan is
dirty, isolate from the power and clean
with a soft brush, leave for ten minutes
for the toaster to cool and push the
reset button to begin toasting again.
(Allow time for the toaster to heat up
again).
b) Allow a clearance of 80mm from the
rear of the machine and 30mm gap
either side.
c) The toaster will also overheat if the
crumb tray is not in position when in
use. This acts as heat screen and helps
protect the internal components vital
to the running of the toaster.
5. WHERE DO I POSITION THE
CONVEYOR TOASTER:
a) Ensure there are no shelves or units
directly above the conveyor.
b) Allow ample clearance around the
conveyor, minimum 80mm at rear and
30mm at sides. This ensures air can
circulate around the conveyor and
keep it at optimum operating
temperature.
c) Do not cover or obstruct the fan.
6. MY ELEMENTS HAVE GONE WHITE:
a) Dualit conveyors use silica glass tube
elements. These may go white over
time. Deposits of starch from the bread
may build up on the element. This in
not harmful in any way nor does it
effect the toasting performance.
If your conveyor toaster fails within one
year from date of purchase we will repair
or replace it free of charge, except for the
elements, provided:
•You have not misused, neglected
or damaged it.
•It has not been modified.
•You supply your receipt to show
when you bought your toaster.
ELEMENTS ARE GUARANTEED FOR 3
MONTHS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE
FOR PARTS & LABOUR, THEREAFTER
PARTS ONLY.
IF LOCATED IN A CONGESTION
CHARGE ZONE, THE CUSTOMER IS
REQUIRED TO PAY THE CHARGE.
The guarantee does not affect your
statutory rights.
If over one year, contact Dualit for
recommended repair agents.
