1. Introduction
Solo is a freestanding, closed atmospheric gas heating appliance. A closed appliance does not extract the combustion air from the living environment, but from outside. This is done through a combined fl ue gas discharge system / combustion air supply system. This system can be installed through the wall, or through the roof. The combined fl ue gas discharge system/combustion air supply system can be supplied in the colour of the appliance. The appliance is supplied with a battery powered wireless remote control.
2. SAFETY

do not dry clothes, towels, etc. on the appliance;
avoid contact with hot parts of the appliance to prevent burns;
do not leave children and persons who cannot properly judge the consequen-
ces of their actions alone with a burning appliance;
keep the remote control out of reach from children and persons who cannot
properly judge the consequences of their actions.
3. Putting the appliance in operation
3.1 First time
When heating for the fi rst time, you may notice an unpleasant smell, caused by the evaporation of volatile components from paint, materials, etc.. This may last several hours.
!Tip
- Set the appliance to its highest level, to speed up the evaporation process;
- Make sure the room is well ventilated.
!Caution
- Pets and birds in particular can be sensitive to the vapours that are released;
- At the start, the  ame image is a ected by the evaporation of volatile components.
3.2 Protection
In order to prevent unsafe situations, you must carefully observe the following precautions/instructions.
Caution
- Always make sure that combustible objects or materials such as curtains are at least 50 cm away from the appliance and/or the discharge pipes;
- Do not dry clothes, towels, etc. on the appliance, in order to prevent  re;
- Avoid contact with hot parts of the appliance to prevent burns;
- Do not leave children and persons who cannot properly judge the consequences of their actions alone with a burning appliance;
- Keep the remote control out of reach from children and persons who cannot properly judge the consequences of their actions.
3.3 Discolouration of walls and ceilings
Brown discolouration is an unpleasant problem that is not easy to solve. Brown discolouration can be caused by burning substances resulting from inadequate ventilation, smoking, burning candles, oil lamps, etc. Cigarette and cigar smoke contains tarry matter that is deposited on colder walls. These problems can be (partly) prevented through proper ventilation of the room where the appliance is installed.

4. Operation
4.1 Igniting the appliance
Button A, used to ignite the appliance, can be found on the gas control block (see
Photo 1). The gas control block is on the right side of the appliance, be-
hind the lid.

Release button A and check if the pilot  ame keeps burning.
Then turn button A to the position ‘big  ame’ ( ): the main burner will now be
switched on.

Depending on the position of button B on the gas control block (see Photo 1),
the main burner will ignite with higher or lower  ames. When button B is in position
, the  ames will be at their highest level. If button B is in the position or has passed the position (when turning clockwise), only the pilot  ame will be burning. In other words, the level of the  ames will decrease going from the

Caution
- If the pilot  ame is not burning after 3 attempts, you must close the gas tap and contact the installer;
- If button A is turned to the
position, the main burner should be largely ignited within about 10 seconds. If this does not happen, you must close the gas tap and contact the installer.
If button B is in the pilot  ame position ( or has been turned further clockwise), the main burner cannot be ignited;
- If the appliance ignites with a pop, you must close the gas tap and contact the installer.

The fl ame height is set with button B on the gas control block (see Photo 1). Button B can be controlled by remote control (see section 4.5.1, Remote Control) and by hand. When button B is in position
, the fl ames will be at their highest level. Turning clockwise will reduce the fl ames up to the pilot fl ame position (● po- sition or turned further clockwise).
