NOTICE: The sensor points of the
HydroSensor probe are extremely sharp. Take care
when collapsing the telescoping tubes to avoid the
points extending by accident. This could cause
injury. Always retract the probe points into the shaft
when not in use.

your Dri-Eaz product. If you determine service is required,
have your equipment model, serial number and original proof
of purchase available and call your distributor for assistance
with obtaining a return material authorization (RMA).

OPERATION

1. When using the HydroSensor II, first extend the shaft.
Grasp the smaller-diameter tube and slide it out until the
spring button pops into place.

2. Extend the sensor points at the bottom of the probe. Loosen
the black plastic knob. Push it down and around the S­shaped slot, then tighten the knob to lock in position.

3. Test the unit by placing your fingers across the shaft of the
points. The indicator lamp will light and the unit will beep.

4. Probe the suspected moisture area with the points. Flash­ing and beeping indicates that carpet and/or pad are wet. A
faster rate of beeping/flashing indicates a higher level of
moisture.

5. Take care not to apply too much force on the probe. Excess
force may damage the tips or telescoping tubes.

6. Always retract the sensor points when not in use.

INTRODUCTION

The HydroSensor Moisture Probes I & II are designed to detect
moisture in carpets, cushion, floors, walls, furniture and other
materials. When the probe tips are pushed into materials to
penetrate the surface, an electric current is sent between the
probes. The amount of moisture present in the material deter­mines how easily the electrical current passes from one probe
to the other.

When moisture is present in a material, the light on the Hy­droSensor will flash and the transducer will beep. The faster
the rate of flashing and beeping, the higher the level of mois­ture.

The 7/8” probe tips are long enough to penetrate shag carpets,

cushion, and flooring materials. With care, the HydroSensor
can also be used to find moisture in furniture, walls, and ceiling
materials.

The HydroSensor will also detect the presence of urine resi­dues. This is because urine salts attract and hold enough
moisture to be detected. A black-light is recommended to con­firm that urine is present.

MAINTENANCE

After each use

Clean and dry the unit with a soft cloth.

As needed

If the probe tips become dull, they may be resharpened with a
file. If points need replacement because of excessive wear, con­tact Dri-Eaz for a replacement kit.

Battery Replacement
The HydroSensor is operates on the current from one 9-volt
battery.

Battery life depends on usage and storage conditions. Do not
allow probe tips to stay in contact with metal, damp cloth, car­pet, water, cork or any other materials that will conduct electric­ity.

If the indicator light no longer illuminates, it may be time to re­place the batters. The battery is contained inside the handle
below the indicator light. To inspect and replace the battery,
follow these instructions:

1. Remove the small screws that hold the handle halves to­gether, and gently split apart the handle.

2. Remove the old battery from its connectors and replace with
a new general-purpose 9-volt battery.

3. Reinsert battery into handle.

4. Align the holes of the handle halves and replace the screws.
Take care not to pinch any wires. Do not overtighten.
