• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye or face protection and protective gloves.
• ALWAY S ensure that the chosen jaws are suitable for the spring type and size.
The spring must rest securely between the outer rib and safety ridges of the jaws.
Ensure that the spring cannot slide out of the jaw plates once they are installed.
• Keep your hands and other body parts clear of the spring as it is being compressed or released.
DO NOT wear loose clothing or jewellery and keep long hair tied back.
• DO NOT allow the spring windings to touch or the compressor jaws to reach the minimum or maximum limit of the tool’s compression range.
• The centre line of the spring MUST remain parallel to the main body at all times, particularly when compressing conical springs.
• Ensure that the jaw bolts remain rmly tightened
during use.
• DO NOT leave a compressed spring unattended.
• DO NOT replace the safety pin with a pin of a dierent

WARNING! Compressed springs contain
signicant amounts of potential energy.
Exercise extreme caution when working with or handling compressed springs and observe the load at all times.
WARNING! NEVER use any form of power tool or air tool to rotate the hex drive as the increased speed may cause the spring to burst from the jaw pieces. Use ONLY a manual 21mm spanner.

1. Ensure that the spring is clean and structurally sound.
2. Measure the outer diameter of the spring at the points where the compressor will be installed and select two appropriately sized jaws.
When compressing a standard coil spring, select a matching colour pair of jaws.
When compressing a conical spring, it may be necessary to combine jaws of dierent colours.
Important: The extension bracket should be used
with the smaller of the two jaws; see 5.2.
4. Use the retaining screws to x the jaws to the
mounting points on the main body, ensuring that the open faces are directed inwards.
5. Position the jaws around the spring, then use the 21mm spanner to rotate the hex drive clockwise and tighten the jaws until they both contact the spring.
6. Check that the spring is seated correctly in both jaw pieces, then continue tightening the jaws until the spring is compressed as required.
CAUTION! DO NOT allow the spring windings to touch or the compressor jaws to reach the minimum or maximum limit of the tool’s range. Observe the spring during operation to ensure that it is compressed evenly.
7. To release the spring, carefully rotate the hex drive anticlockwise until the spring can be removed from between the jaws.
Important: DO NOT leave the spring in a compressed
state for any longer than is absolutely necessary.
5.2 Using the Extension Bracket
The extension bracket should be used to accommodate the smaller jaw piece when a conical spring is compressed and can be installed by screwing it between the main body mounting points and the jaw piece.

Important: The extensions bracket should NOT be used when operating on a coil spring as both jaws must be the same size.

spindle mechanism to prevent corrosion and binding.
