GENERAL INFORMATION

This manual has been compiled by Draper Tools and is an integrated part of this dehumidifier and should be kept with the machine.
We recommend that this manual is read before any operation of the machine, before performing any kind of adjustment to the machine,

and prior to any maintenance tasks. By following all the general safety instructions contained in this manual, it will ensure both the
dehumidifier and operator safety.

All the photographs and drawings in this manual are supplied by Draper Tools to help illustrate the operation of the machine.

SPECIFICATION

Draper dehumidifiers have been carefully tested and inspected before shipment and are guaranteed to
be free from defective materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase
except where tools are hired out when the guarantee period is ninety days from the date of purchase.

Should the product develop any fault, please return the complete tool to your nearest authorised

warranty repair agent or contact Draper Tools Limited, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 1YF.

If upon inspection it is found that the fault occurring is due to defective materials or workmanship, repairs
will be carried out free of charge. This guarantee does not apply to normal wear and tear, nor does it
cover any damage caused by misuse, careless or unsafe handling, alterations, accident, or repairs
attempted or made by any personnel other than the authorised Draper warranty repair agent.

This guarantee applies in lieu of any other guarantee expressed or implied and variations of its terms are
not authorised.

Your Draper guarantee is not effective unless you can produce upon request a dated receipt or invoice to
verify your proof of purchase within the 12 month period.

Please note that this guarantee is an additional benefit and does not affect your statutory rights.

CONNECTING THE DEHUMIDIFIER TO THE POWER SUPPLY:

To eliminate the possibility of an electric shock your machine has been fitted with a BS approved, non
rewireable moulded plug and cable which incorporates a fuse, the value of which is indicated on the pin
face of the plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced an approved BS1362 fuse must be used of the
same rating, marked thus . The fuse cover is detach­able, never use the plug with the cover omitted. If a replacement fuse cover is required, ensure it is of the
same colour as that visible on the pin face of the plug (i.e. red). Fuse covers are available from your
Draper Tools stockist.
If the fitted plug is not suitable, it should be cut off and destroyed. *The end of the cable should now be
suitably prepared and the correct type of plug fitted. See below.

*WARNING:

A plug with bare flexible wires exposed is hazardous if engaged in a live power socket outlet.

WARNING:THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.

Green and Yellow - Earth, Blue - Neutral, Brown - Live.
As these colours may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug,
proceed as follows.:
The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is
marked with the letter 'E' or by the earth symbol or coloured green or green and yellow.
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter 'N' or
coloured black or blue.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter 'L' or
coloured red or brown.
N.B.Three phase machines must be connected by a qualified electrician.

EXTENSION LEAD CHART:
Extension lead sizes shown assure a voltage drop of not more than 5% at rated load of
tool/machine.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEHUMIDIFIER

■ Before moving the unit ensure all collected water has been drained from the tank.

■ Close all doors and windows in the room to achieve maximum efficiency.

■ Wash the air filter in warm water every two weeks to retain good air flow to the machine. Do NOT use

alcohol, petroleum, benzine or water over 40ºC.

■ Do not expose the air filter to direct sunlight.

■ Do not stand heavy items on top of the unit or anything containing liquid which would cause spillage if

knocked.

■ Do not insert any foreign object through grilles.

■ Avoid blocking the ventilation to the machine to maintain efficiency.

■ Do not stand unit on soft or uneven surfaces.

■ Do not place the machine in a position of increased heat.

■ When away for long periods of time switch off and unplug the unit.

■ When used in the continuous drainage mode, ensure the hose is even and free from blockage to avoid

leakage.

■ It is important to keep the unit upright at all times.

MD11 CONTROLS (Fig.2)

To switch the dehumidifier on rotate the switch ✪✌ in a
clockwise direction until the required position is
selected.When the unit has been activated the indicator
✫✌ will illuminate.

Position settings ✬✌ are as follows:
Position 0 OFF
Position 1 RH80%
Position 2 RH70%
Position 3 RH60%
Position 4 RH50%
Position 5 CONTINUOUS

When the water collection tank is full the indicator
(D) will illuminate and an audible alarm will sound.

ED18 CONTROLS (Fig.3)
To switch the dehumidifier on depress switch ✮✌. When
the unit has been activated the indicator ✯✌ will illumi­nate. On initial power up the machine will adopt the fac­tory preset (RH60%, fan speed ‘high’ and mode ‘high’).

To select the desired ‘relative humidity’ setting press
button ✴✌ until the indicator ✵✌ is illuminating your
choice.

Press button ✶✌ to alternate the display ✷✌ between
temperature in centigrade, temperature in fahrenheit or
current relative humidity

To alter the rate of efficiency in moisture removal press
✳✌ which will change the fan speed between high and
low. The choice is indicated by the illumination of ✹✌.

The dehumidifier can be set to fan operation instead of
the usual dehumidifier by pressing ✰✌.

When selection is made and ✲✌ is illuminated the unit is
in ‘Dry’ mode and normal moisture removal is taking
place.

When selection is made and ✱✌ is illuminated the unit is
in ‘Fan’ mode and only the fan operates allowing free air
circulation.

When the water collection tank is full the indicator ✸✌
will illuminate and an audible alarm will sound.

Note: The higher the percentage of ‘relative humidity’ the
greater the saturation of moisture in the air. When the
unit reaches the desired percentage of air humidity it
will stop until it senses the humidity rises, when moisture
removal will automatically restart.

OPERATION AND USE

ADJUSTING THE AIR FLOW DIRECTION (Fig.4)

The unit pulls in the air through the front grille and
exits the air through the back panel grille.To alter the
air flow from the back panel grille to the upper grille,
open panel ✺✌. After use ensure the panel is closed
to avoid foreign objects falling into the working area
of the machine.

REMOVING THE AIR FILTER (Fig.5):
Lift up panel ✻✌ which is part of the air filter
assembly to remove it from the unit.

NOTE: This filter requires cleaning regularly and
should be washed in warm water and allowed to dry
away from direct sunlight. Do NOT wash the filter in
alcohol, petroleum, benzine or water over 40ºC other
wise damage will occur.

OPERATION AND USE

DRAINING METHODS (Fig.6 & 7):

When the water tank is full the audible alarm will
sound, the display will illuminate red and the
dehumidifier will stop collecting water until the tank is
emptied. To remove the tank ✼✌ lift the front edge
slightly before pulling the tank outwards. Drain the
tank and then replace. No water will drain while the
tank is removed.

For continuous drainage the water outlet adaptor and
‘O’ring ✽✌will need to be fitted. With the switch lock
✿✌in place the unit will now run continuously. A piece
of 15mm hose ✾✌(not supplied) will push on to the
adaptor and can be run to a drain.

Note: The machine should not be left for long periods
of time in this mode. Occasionally check the hose
connection has not slipped to allow water to escape.
The hose must be kept as flat a possible to allow
correct drainage.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

The unit does not operate after the switch has
been activated.

1. The water tank is not properly placed or the
water tank is full.

2. The plug is not properly connected to
the power.

3. The fuse has blown.

The dehumidifying efficiency is low.

1. The air filter is obstructed by dirt.

2. The room temperature is too low.

3. The air inlet or air outlet is obstructed.

The preset humidity level can not be reached
after long periods of operation.

1. Door or windows are opened frequently.

2. Another appliance is generating moisture
in the room.

3. The room size is too large.

Noise is high.

1. The ground is not hard and even.

2. The unit is not properly positioned.

The compressor stops operation during
dehumidification, the humidity indicator
flashes twice per second. (ED18 only).

If the fan motor is still operating, that means
the unit is in defrost mode.

The alarm sounds before the water tank is full.

1. The water tank is not properly placed.

2. There is standing water or other obstacles

on the water tank flap.
