5. HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
1) Before positioning the lift, you should ensure the following:
a. Vehicle should be clear of all passengers. Transmission should be
in gear (or ‘Park’ for automatic transmissions) and the handbrake applied.
If the vehicle has automatic stop/start or is electric only - ensure
the vehicle key is a safe distance from the vehicle to prevent it activating by mistake.
b. To prevent the vehicle from movement, wheels should be securely
blocked with wheel chocks (Draper Stock No.54500) when possible.
2) Correct Positioning when using body lift plate:
The lift should be positioned either under the approved lifting points for the vehicle or around
the vehicle tyre, as instructed. Since these points may vary with each vehicle, it is important to refer to the vehicle manufacture or Haynes workshop manuals.
Warning: Ensure when using the lift with the wheel cradle, that this cannot come into contact
with the vehicle bodywork as the suspension compresses! Draper will accept no claims if the bodywork is damaged due to incorrect application of the vehicle lift. If the wheel cradle is not suitable - use the body lift plate.
This lift will not be applicable to all vehicles, and must be used very carefully on first
application to prevent damage to the vehicle and its bodywork.
3) Terrain:
The lift should only be operated on a hard and level surface as the location will permit, concrete is required.
4) Never exceed the lift’s Rated Capacity.

5. HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
5) Working Under The Vehicle
It is extremely important, when working under the vehicle, to
ensure axle stands are always used.
5.1 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. The vehicle to be lifted should never exceed the rated capacity of the life.
2. The lift should be supported on a solid, level and horizontal surface which is well illuminated and free of obstructions. Never stand the lift on a surface which may sink.
4. Ensure that there are no persons inside the vehicle to be lifted. Switch off the engine and apply the brake. If the vehicle has automatic stop/start or is electric only - ensure the vehicle key is a safe distance from the vehicle to prevent it activating by mistake. Ensure the vehicle or element to be lifted is safe against any type of sliding. Use chocks if appropriate (1). Do not enter the vehicle or start the engine whilst it is supported on the lift or appropriate stands. The lift is a lifting device only and should never be used to move the vehicle.
5. When using the body lift plate, position the lift under the manufacturer’s recommended lifting point for the vehicle and ensure that it is not corroded, dirty or greasy.
6. During raising and lowering of the load, all precautions should be taken to avoid movement of the vehicle load.
7. The lift should be positioned so as to avoid the need for the user to introduce any part of his/her body underneath the vehicle. Never work under a raised vehicle without supporting it with axle stands (5) or other appropriate methods. Never position any part of your body near the movable elements of the lift.
8. It is necessary for the operator to be able to observe the lifting device and the load during all movements. In the presence of dangerous conditions, such as movement of the vehicle, etc, the lifting process must be stopped immediately and not attempted until the vehicle is fully secured for lifting.
9. Ensure that there are no persons or obstructions underneath the vehicle prior to lowering.
10. Always use the locking bar at the nearest locking position under the wheel cradle or body lift plate when the vehicle is at the required height.
Caution:
Use only on a firm, level surface, concrete is required.
Do not exceed the rated capacity of this lift.
This is a lifting device only - do not work under the vehicle without proper support devices, such as axle stands.
Make sure that the lifting point is stable and correctly centred on the lift saddle.
Familiarise yourself thoroughly with this manual before operating to prevent damage to the lift, property, or personal injury.
