INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
SAFETY BABY CHANGING TABLE
Read the Installation Instructions Thoroughly Before Commencing Installation
The design of the safety baby changing table makes it easy to mount in even very small
rooms. The changing table must be mounted onto a wall which is suited to carry the weight
of the table as well as a baby – preferably a solid wall!
Where To Mount the Baby Changing Table
Determine the ideal place to mount the baby changing table. Keep in mind that the depth of
the changing table is 625 mm in open position. The distance from the floor to the lower edge
of the table mountings should be approx. 750 mm (see FIG. 1). Doorways, sinks etc. should
of course also be taken into consideration when choosing where to mount the changing table.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT mount the table in a chlorine-containing environment!
Marking and Drilling Holes
To mount the changing table onto brick, gas concrete or the like, use 10 mm screws and
matching universal plastic dowels – e.g. Fischer fixings type S-12.
When mounting the changing table onto a cavity wall of min. 16 mm (or 2 x 13 mm) plaster
board, we recommend prior mounting of a reinforcement plate of stainless steel, plywood or
the like, onto which the changing table is subsequently mounted. Attach reinforcement plate
to the wall using a considerable number of special metal cavity fixings, Fischer part. no. BC
62328 or equivalent (part. no. BC 62315 for double plate). The changing table itself is also
mounted with these screws and dowels – plus one metal washer per screw hole. For further
details, please refer to the instructions of the dowel supplier.
In places where plaster walls have not yet been finished, we suggest mounting a 16 mm
plywood board on the inside of the plaster wall, rendering the need for a reinforcement plate
on the outside unnecessary.
Mark and drill holes as indicated on FIG. 1. The top holes for the table mountings should be
drilled into solid brick - not into a joint.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to drill the holes for the mountings exactly vertically underneath each
other, or the pneumatic shock absorbers inside the mountings may break!

MOUNTING THE BABY CHANGING TABLE
ݢ Disassemble the cover plates of the table mountings by removing the 6
screws (3 on each) with a Torx screwdriver no. 20.
ݣ Mount the table onto the wall, making sure that it is completely level.
ݤ The changing table is factory pre-adjusted to easily close when given a
slight push from open position.
ݥ Check that the changing table is mounted solidly onto the wall.
ݦ Check that the shock absorbers can pass freely when opening and closing
the table.
ݧ Reassemble the cover plates onto the mountings.

MOUNTING PAPER HOLDER
The paper holder consists of the following parts:
1 holder Left-side mountings with lock Right-side mountings 2 keys
ݢ Mark and drill holes as indicated on FIG. 1.
ݣ Fix the mountings onto the wall with 6 mm screws and plugs suited for the
wall type onto which the paper holder is to be mounted.
ݤ Place a paper roll loosely in the paper holder and tip the holder towards the
wall, making the white locking devices click.

NAPPY CHANGING UNIT INSTALLATION
Stainless Steel Units
STEEL UNITS
Each stainless steel unit can either be surface-mounted or recessed. A matching stainless steel cover frame is available for surfacemounted installations.
RECOMMENDED MOUNTING HEIGHT TO BASE OF UNIT:
Standard – 900mm
Wheelchair – 750mm
In all mountings, the flat fender washer must be inserted
underneath the finishing washer: installing the unit using only the finishing washer may result in the washer biting directly into the body of the unit with consequent damage and loss of stability.
Nappy changing units are no stronger than the anchors or
substrates to which they are attached and as such must be firmly secured in order to support the loads for which they are intended.
RECESSED FIXING IN MASONRY
Each unit has six recess mounting holes. Form the opening in the brick or blockwork wall, incorporating an appropriate lintel to span the opening. Install rough timber fixing grounds and screw fix the changing unit to the reveals of the opening using minimum 5mm screws. Before final tightening, insert packing shims as necessary for alignment and to obviate any distortion on tightening. Use either flat head screws with finishing washers and flat washers or pan head wood screws with flat washers, making sure that consideration is given to the operating clearance and that the back flange of the unit neatly masks the opening and the termination of the wall finish.
RECESSED FIXING IN STUDWORK
Timber double stud blocking is necessary around the opening. After locating the unit within the framed opening, insert packing shims as necessary for alignment and snug fitting. Secure the unit to the blocking using minimum 5mm flat head wood screws with finishing washers and flat washers or pan head wood screws with flat washers, making sure, as with all fixing methods, that consideration is given to the operating clearance.
SURFACE MOUNTING
The unit can be fixed directly through the back plate using screws and appropriate wall plugs and plastic caps to cover the screw heads. A matching stainless steel cover frame is available for surface-mounted installations which engages the changing unit with a snap fit. The cover frame covers the otherwise exposed edges and provides a neat finishing surround.
Page 12
POLYETHYLENE UNITS
Each unit has four mounting ports based on a traditional 400mm stud spacing. Two additional por ts are provided for optional use. All fixings are supplied with each unit to cater for fixing to either solid masonry or studded wall constructions.
FIXING TO MASONRY
Secure the unit to brick and concrete block substrates using four 5mm x min.75 mm wood screws into proprietary wall plugs. The flat fender washer is to be inserted underneath the finishing washer. Finally, insert the snap-fit plastic covers in each fixing port to cover the fixings.
ALTERNATIVE FIXING METHOD TO STUDWORK
The BC 100-EH/BC 100-EV unit can be fitted with the EZ Mount backer plate to provide an alternative method of fixing to studded walls. Two galvanised steel mounting bars are supplied, one pre-fixed to the rear of the unit and the other loose for fixing to the wall. The wall bar has a multitude of fixing holes to cater for variable stud positions.
1
Mark out and drill fixing holes. Insert
toggle.
2
Twist toggle freely to
gain purchase on the supporting member. There should be a minimum cavity clearance of 65mm to allow the toggle bar to turn.
3
Push the integral disc
along the toggle to make a snug purchase on the wall face. The toggle strands are rachetted to hold the disc in place.
4
Cut off the surplus
projection of the toggle and offer up the unit for fixing.
5
Align and engage the
fixing bolt in the threaded toggle bar with washers engaged. The flat fender washer is to be inserted underneath the finishing washer. Finally, insert the snap-fit plastic covers in each fixing port.
