1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of misuse of the appliance may result in a potential injury.
In case of any inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility andthe guarantee may notapply.
The guarantee does not cover appliances that do not work or do not work properly because they have not been maintained and/or descaled.
INTENDED USE
1.
This appliance is intended to be used in household only. It isnot intended to be used in followingapplications, andthe guarantee will notapply for: – staffkitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; – farm houses; – by clients in hotels, motelsand other residential type environments; – bed and breakfast type environments;

Your appliance is intended for domestic use inside the home only at analtitude below 3400 m.
ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY

Connect the appliance to a mains power socket with an earth connection only. Mains voltage must be the same as the detailson the rating plate. The use of incorrect connection will negate the guarantee and may be hazardous.
4.
To protect againstfire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the power cord, plugs or the appliance in water or other liquid. Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touch the power cord with wethands. Do not overfill the water tank.
5.
In case of an emergency remove the plug from the mains power socket immediately.
6.
Unplug from the mains power socket when not in use.
7.
To disconnect, remove the plug from the mains power socket. Do not unplug by pullingthe cord.
8.
Do notlet the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hotsurfaces or sharp edges. Do not allow the cord to dangle (risk of tripping up). Never touch the cord with wet hands.
9.
Do notoperate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agentor similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Do notoperate any appliance thatmalfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Unplugcord immediately. Returnthe damaged appliance to the nearestauthorised service facility designated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.

If the mains power socket does notmatch the plug on the appliance, have the plug replaced with a suitable type by aftersales service centres designated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.
CONDITIONSOFUSE

Always use the appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface away from sources of heator water splashes.
12.
Do notuse the appliance without the driptray anddripgrid, except whena very tall mug is used. Do not use the appliance for hotwater preparation.
13.
Never turn the machine upside down.
14.
The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
15.
Do notplace on or near a hot gasor electric burner, or in a heated oven.
16.
Do notput fingers under the outlet during beverage preparation.
17.
Do nottouch the injector of the machine head.
18.
Never carry the appliance by the extraction head.

The capsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoid placing the capsule holder near appliances andobjects thatcan be damaged by magnetism, e.g. credit cards, USB drives andother data devices, video tapes, television and computer monitors with picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids and loud speakers.

Do notturn offthe appliance during the descaling process. Rinse the water tank and clean the appliance to avoid any residual descaling agent.
21.
If away for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc. the appliance must be emptied, cleaned andunplugged. Rinse before reuse. Operate the rinse cycle before re-using your appliance.

We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®capsules designed and tested for the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®machine. They were designed to interact together – the interaction providesthe in-cup quality that NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®is knownfor. Each capsule is designed to prepare a perfectcup, and cannot be reused.

Do notremove hot capsules by hand. Always use capsule holder handle to dispose of used capsules.

Always insert the capsule holder in the machine to prepare a beverage. Do not pull outthe capsule holder before the indicator stops blinking. The appliance will not work ifthe capsule holder is not inserted.
25.
Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur if the lockinghandle is opened during the brewing cycles. Do notpull up the locking handle before the lightson the machine stop flashing.
26.
For health reasons, always fill the water tank with fresh drinkingwater.
27.
After use of the appliance always remove the capsule and clean the capsule holder. Empty and clean the drip tray and capsule bin daily. Food allergy sufferers must rinse the appliance according to cleaning procedure.

The heating elementsurface is subjectto residual heat after use and plastic housings may feel warm to touch several minutesupon use.

Patients with pacemakers or defibrillators: Do nothold the capsule holder directly over the pacemaker or defibrillator.

Packagingis made of recyclable materials. Contact your local council / authority for further informationon recycling programs. Your appliance contains valuable materialswhich can be recovered or recycled.

The appliance shall not be placed in a cabinetwhen in use.
CHILDREN

Keep the appliance and itscord out of reach of children aged less than8 years. Children shall not play with the appliance.

This appliance canbe used by children aged from 8 yearsand above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge ifthey have been given supervisionor instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

MAINTENANCE

Unplug from the mains power socket before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or takingoffparts, before cleaningthe appliance. Never clean wet or immerse appliance in any fluid. Never cleanthe appliance with running water. Never use detergents to clean the appliance. Clean the appliance only using soft sponges/brushes. The water tank should be cleaned with a clean food-safe brush.

Any operation, cleaningand care other than normal use must be undertaken by after-sales service centres designated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline. Do not dismantle appliance and do notput anything into openings.
40.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only!

To adjust drip tray position: Turn drip tray counter clockwise to unlock it.
Click!
Lift drip tray up to middle position. Lock drip tray by turning it clockwise until it clicks. The drip tray is locked.

Never add hotwater to the water tank!

Rinse water tank manually withfreshdrinkingwater. Fill water tank withfreshdrinkingwater. Insert water tank into machine.

Open locking handle. Make sure thatrinsing tool is in capsule holder andcapsule holder is in machine. Close locking handle. Place a large empty container underneath the coffee outlet.

Make sure thatthe selection lever is in “STOP” position. Ensure touse the correct mains voltage as given in 2. "MACHINE OVERVIEW"on page5. Connectpower plug to mains power socket.

Switchon machine. Power button starts blinkingred while machine is heating upfor approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards power button lights steady green. Machine is ready to be used.

Pushselection lever to the "COLD" position. Machine starts rinsing.

After approximately 60seconds push selection lever to the “STOP” position. Machine stops rinsing. Power button blinks red for about5 seconds.

Rinse andclean water tank. Use a clean food-safe brush and washing-up liquidas needed. Afterwards refill with freshdrinkingwater andinsert it into machine. The water tank is notdishwasher proof!

Clean with washing-up liquid and freshdrinkingwater both sides of capsule holder. Alternatively washin dishwasher. Dry it afterwards.Cleanthe head of the machine aroundthe injector witha clean softdamp cloth.

Do notuse vinegar for descaling! Avoid contactof descaling liquid withany
part of the machine.
Do notpush power button duringdescaling cycle.

If the beverage comes outslower thanusual (evenin droplets), or if it is cooler than usual or if the power button is steady orange (descaling signal), the machine has to be descaled.

Switchoffmachine. If any, remove water from water tank.

Mix 0,5 liter freshdrinkingwater withdescaler in a measuring cup. Pour descaling solutioninto water tank and insert water tank into machine.

This means thatthe machine needs to be descaled. Follow instructions in 8. "Descaling at leastevery 3–4months" on page14.
No liquid comes outand the machine makes a loudnoise: The water tank may be empty.

Check if the water tank contains enoughfreshdrinking water. If not, refillwithfreshdrinkingwater and push selection lever to the "HOT"position respectively "COLD" to continue preparation. If the water tank is full, proceedas describedin "No liquid comes out – capsule blocked?" on page16.
No liquid comes out: The capsule may be blocked and under pressure.

Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position. Open locking handle. If the locking handle cannotbe opened, wait for 20 minutes, try again.

Do notdrink the coffee!Put used capsule in dustbin.

Try workingmachine withoutcapsule. If water flows, it shows thatthe capsule was faulty. Just use a different capsule. If not, follow with9.4"No liquid comes out­injector blocked".
No liquid comes out: The injector may be blocked and under pressure.

Ensure the drip tray is empty. Remove water tank. Open locking handle. Remove and tilt driptray. Take out cleaning needle. Keepneedle out ofreach of children!

Unplug power plug!For better access to injector tilt machine. Never touch injector with finger!Clean injector with cleaningneedle. Follow instructions in 8. "Descalingat least every 3–4months" on page14.

Switchoffmachine. Unplug power plug and wait20 minutes. Remove the capsule holder andthrow the capsule away. Afterwards plug power plug into mains power socket and switch machine on.

Water accumulates underneathor aroundmachine. Clear water leaks aroundcapsule holder during beverage preparation.
