1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Read all instructionsand keep these safety instructions. Any type of misuse ofthe appliance may result in a potential injury.
2.
Connect the appliance to a mains power socket with an earthcon­nectiononly. Mainsvoltage must be the same as the details onthe rating plate. The use ofincorrect connection will negate the guar­anteeand may be hazardous.
3.
This appliance is intended to be used in householdonly. It is not intended to be used infollowing applications, and the guarantee will notapply for:
–staff kitchen areasin shops,offices andother workingenvir-
onments; –farm houses; –by clients in hotels, motels andother residential type envir-
onments; –bed and breakfast type environments;

Your appliance isintended for domestic use inside the home only at analtitude below3400 m.

In case of any inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instruc­tions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee may notapply.

We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® capsules designed andtested for the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® machine. They were designed to interact together - theinteraction provides the in-cup quality thatNESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® isknownfor. Each cap­sule is designed to prepare a perfect cup, and cannot be reused.

Do notremove hot capsules by hand.Always use capsule holder handle to dispose of used capsules.

Alwaysuse the appliance on aflat, stable, heat resistant surface away from sourcesof heator water splashes.
9.
To protect againstfire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the power cord, plugs or the appliance in water or other liquid. Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touchthe power cord with wethands. Do notoverfill the water tank.
10.
In case of anemergency remove the plugfrom the mains power socketimmediately.
11.
Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near chil­dren. Keep the appliance / power cord / capsule holder out of reach ofchildren. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Never leave the appliance without sur­veillance while making a beverage.
12.
This appliance is notintended for use by children or personswith reduced physical, sensory or mentalcapabilities, or lack of exper­ienceand knowledge, unless they have been given supervisionor instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Personswho have a limited or no understanding of the operation anduse of this appliance must first read and fully understandthe contents ofthe user manual, andwhere appropriate seekadditional guidance on its operation anduse from the person
responsible for their safety.

Do notuse the appliance without the drip tray and drip grid, exceptwhen a very tall mug is used. Do not use the appliance for hotwater preparation.

For health reasons, alwaysfill the water tank with fresh drink­ingwater.

After use of the appliance alwaysremove the capsule and cleanthe capsule holder. Empty andclean the drip tray and capsule bin daily. Usersallergic to dairy products: Rinse the applianceaccording to the cleaningprocedure.

The heatingelement surface is subject to residual heatafter use andplastic housings may feel warm to touch several minutesupon use.

Unplug from the mains power socket when notin use.

Unplug from the mains power socket before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, before cleaning the appliance.Never cleanwet or immerse appliance in any fluid. Never clean the appliance with running water. Never use deter­gentsto cleanthe appliance. Cleanthe appliance only using softsponges/brushes. The water tank should be cleaned with a cleanfood-safe brush.

Never turn the machine upside down.
20.
Ifaway for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc. the appliance mustbe emptied, cleaned and unplugged. Rinse before reuse. Operate the rinse cycle before re-using your appliance.
21.
Do notturn off the appliance during the descaling process. Rinsethe water tank and cleanthe appliance to avoid any residual descaling agent.
22.
Any operation, cleaningand care other than normal use must beundertaken by after-sales service centres designatedby NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® hotline. Do notdismantle appliance and do not put anything into openings.
23.
In case of intensive use without allowingsufficient cooling time, the appliance will stop functioning temporarily with the red indicator lightblinking. This is to protect your appliance from overheating. Switch the appliance offfor 20 minutes to let itcool down.
24.
Do notoperate any appliance witha damaged cord or plug. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the man­ufacturer,its service agent or similarly qualified personsin orderto avoid a hazard. Do not operate any appliance that mal­functionsor has been damaged in any manner. Unplug cord immediately. Return the damaged appliance to the nearest authorisedservice facility designated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® hotline.

The use of accessory attachments notrecommended by the appliancemanufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

Do notlet the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter,or touchhot surfaces or sharpedges. Do not allow the cord to
dangle (risk of tripping up). Never touch the cord with wet hands.
27.
Do notplace on or near a hot gasor electric burner, or in a heated oven.
28.
To disconnect, turnthe machine off, thenremove the plug from the mainspower socket. Do not unplug by pullingthe cord.
29.
Alwaysinsert the capsule holder in the machine to prepare a bever­age. Do not pull outthe capsule holder before the indicator stops blinking. The appliance will notwork ifthe capsule holder is not inserted.
30.
Machinesequipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur if the lockinghandle is opened during the brewing cycles. Do not pull up the lockinghandle before the lights on the machine stop flashing.
31.
Do notput fingers under the outlet during beverage preparation.
32.
Do nottouch the injector ofthe machine head.
33.
Never carry the appliance by the machine head.

The capsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoid pla­cingthe capsule holder near appliancesand objects thatcanbe damagedby magnetism, e.g. credit cards, USB drives andother data devices, video tapes, television and computer monitors with picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids andloud speakers.
35.
Patientswith pacemakers or defibrillators: Do not holdthe capsule holder directlyover the pacemaker or defibrillator.
36.
Ifthe mains power socket does not match the plugon the appliance, havethe plug replacedwith a suitable type by aftersales service centresdesignated by NESCAFÉ®Dolce Gusto® hotline.
37.
Packagingis made of recyclable materials. Contact your local coun­cil / authority for further information on recyclingprograms. Your appliancecontains valuablematerials which canbe recovered or recycled.

Please be aware that the appliance is still using electricity whilst in eco-mode (0.4 W/hour).

Keep the appliance and itscord out of reach of children aged less than8 years. Childrenshall not play with the appliance.

This appliance canbe used by children aged from 8yearsand above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilitiesor lackof experience and knowledge ifthey have been given super­visionor instruction concerninguse of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazardsinvolved.
42.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall notbe made by children unlessthey are older than 8 andsupervised by anadult.
To reduce the risk offire or electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user serviceable partsinside. Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only!

The guarantee does not cover appliances thatdonotwork or do not workproperly because they have notbeen maintained and/or descaled.
