Illuminators
Your purchase of the DolanJenner Fiber-Optic Illumination System will provide you with many years of service in a large variety of applications which require high intensity, yet cool illumination. Please read the following instructions to ensure that maximum performance is obtained from your system.
INTRODUCTION
The 190-1 Fiber Optic Illuminator gives high-intensity "cold" light where you need it most. The fiber optics absorb heat and transmit high-intensity light, and the gooseneck light pipe lets you position the lens from a variety of oblique angles.
It is ideal for illumination in temperature-sensitive applications such as specimen preparation, dissection, culture work or micromanipulation. The illuminator can also be used in conjunction with a stereomicroscope lamp port for incident or transmitted illumination with or without the lens.
FEATURES
A powerful 0.19 inch (4.8mm) diameter fiber optic that provides over 4,000 foot candles at a 6 inch distance in a 0.87 inch (22mm) diameter spot of high intensity "cold" light.
A 30 watt quartz-halogen vibrationless source (convection-cooled) at a color temperature of 3100 degrees K, suitable for tungsten film.
Gooseneck flexibility is excellent for multipositioning. The fiber optic light pipe always remains at the ambient temperature and is safely handled at all times to enable optimum positioning for reduced glare. This eliminates the possibility of burnt fingers on adjustment and, at the same time, increases eye comfort.
Convenient 28mm focal length, slide-lock lens which is quickly focused to provide light spot diameters from 0.16inches to 2.87 inches (4mm to 73mm).
The four position light intensity switch offers easy light-intensity selections.
CHANGING THE ILLUMINATOR LAMP
The following procedure outlines the steps necessary to replace the lamp.*:
1. Unplug the illuminator from the wall socket before disassembling the unit.
2. If the light pipe must be removed to take off the cover, unscrew it by straightening it as much as possible and turning it counterclockwise while grasping it at the base. This step is only necessary if the light pipe is permanently mounted.
3. Remove the 4 button-head screws using a 5/64" Hex Allen wrench. Lift off the cover assembly slowly until the lamp is exposed.
4. Unplug the lamp from its socket.
5. After the lamp is disconnected unsnap it from the lamp retainers on the bracket. (Figure 1).
6. Reverse this process to install a new lamp.
*Note: Use only EKZ replacement lamps.
