Important
1.1 Representation of warning signs and symbols
In this user manual, safety instructions are highlighted using special markers:
This means that death, severe injuries or significant damage to property will result if the respective precautionary measures are not taken.
This means that death, severe injuries or significant damage to property may result if the respective precautionary measures are not taken.
This means that minor injuries or damage to property may resultif the respective precautionary measures are not taken.
This means that the equipment, the control system or other objects may be damaged if the respective notices are not heeded.
This highlights important information concerning the handling of the control system or the respective section of the user manual.

1.2 Basic safety instructions
The control system was developed and manufactured as per the 2006/42/EG machinery directive and the 2006/95/EG low voltage directive.
Here the following harmonised standards were applied:
- EN 60204-1:2006
- EN 60439-1+A1:2004
- EN ISO 13849-1
- EN 12100:2010 In normal cases, intended usage and proper maintenance of the
control system will not present any dangers to property or people’s health. However, improper installation, maintenance and operation of the whole system or machine, failure to follow the instructions in this user manual, or the involvement of insufficiently qualified personnel, may result in connected actuators such as motors presenting a danger.
1.3 Intended usage
The control system and the equipment have been built using state-ofthe-art technology in accordance with approved safety regulations. However, their usage may present a danger to the life and/or health of the user or third parties, or cause damage to machines, equipment or other material property.
The control system and the equipment may only be used as intended, in a technically impeccable condition, with an awareness of the associated dangers, and with due regard to safe usage as per the user manual. The proper and safe operation of the control system requires appropriate transportation, proper storage and assembly as well as careful servicing and maintenance. Any faults which may impair safety must be immediately resolved.
The control panel and the equipment are exclusively designed for the ergonomic measurement of the human body in a lying position. Any usage which deviates from this purpose does not qualify as intended usage.
For intended usage of the control system, the instructions on mechanical and electrical layout, start-up, operation, and troubleshooting described in this user manual must be followed.

1.4 Selection and qualifications of personnel
Warning
Warning
Any works carried out on the control system as regards parametrisation, installation, start-up, operation and maintenance may only be done by trained personnel (e.g. qualified electricians, electrical engineers).
Personnel working on start-up and maintenance must be familiar with the safety concepts of the automation technology.
Operating personnel must be instructed in the use of the control system and know the operating instructions.
The installation, start-up and maintenance personnel must hold a qualification which entitles them to operate the control system.
Safety equipment must not be manipulated or removed! Failure to observe this could result in damage to property or risk to personal health!

1.5 Servicing and maintenance
Warning
Warning
Warning
If measurement or test works are required at the live supply voltage, the specifications and practice directives of the applicable legal and country-specific accident prevention regulations must be observed. Suitable power tools should be used.
Repairs to control system components may only be carried out by trained personnel. Unauthorised opening of the control cabinet and improper interference or repairs may result in personal injuries or damage to property. Components may only be replaced like-for-like.
When replacing fuses, only types specified in the technical data may be used.
When replacing batteries, only types specified in the technical data may be used. Batteries may only be disposed of as hazardous waste, without exception.
Defective parts may only be replaced with parts which come from the same manufacturer as the defective part and which have been declared by said manufacturer as equivalent in terms of safety and performance. Should this not be observed, the person who made
the change to the equipment will take on the status of equipment manufacturer.
1.6 Danger caused by electrical power
After opening the switchboard and removing the covering or housing of system components, certain parts of the control system can be accessed which may be at a dangerous voltage.
Before maintenance or repair works can be started, the power cable must be plugged out!
The operator must ensure that unauthorised and improper interference is prevented (e.g. by locking the switchboard).
The personnel must be familiar with all sources of danger and procedures for start-up, maintenance and operation as per the information in the user manual.

2 First Start-Up with the Customer
Important
2.1 Mechanical check
Step 1: Unpack the measuring bed, check for any mechanical damages or damage caused
during transportation.
Step 2: Check the following points:
Gently push down on the lower longitudinal profile. The profile should not budge.
Visually inspect the vertical and horizontal profiles – they must be in close-fitting contact with each other. Check the screws as well.
Check to see that all 11 sensor plates are firmly fitted.
Page 11
Page 10
150828_BA
STREAM-motion_DE_V15-1_2015-
08-28.doc
Check to see that all 11 limit switch plates are firmly fitted (brass casing and plate).
Check all 11 actuators to see if the lower and the upper cogwheels interlock cleanly and free from backlash.
Corrections can be made by shifting the axis of the cogwheel console.
During subsequent use the actuators will need to be able to be moved both smoothly and silently.

2.3 Starting up the measuring bed
Warning
Please note
The control system must only be connected to the power supply and started up if the measuring bed’s mechanical system has been mounted in the specially-designed bed frame and the mattress has been placed on the slat frame. (Finger-safe assembly – no moving mechanical parts exposed). Exposed moving parts, e.g. cogwheels,
screw drives or chain drives may present a risk of injury!
Important: the measuring bed’s pairs of slats automatically move upwards after the touch panel has been switched on.
For start-up please proceed as follows:
Plug a mouse into the free USB port on the touch panel.Plug the control system and the printer into a power socket (230 VAC 50 Hz).The touch panel will start automatically. The measuring bed will automatically move to the neutral position = step 9 (highest setting)The following start screen will be displayed on the panel:

2.3.8 Initialising the sensors
Move pairs of slats to horizontal neutral position. The red distance measurement spot must hit
the middle of the measurement plate. The adhesive tape is important for the correct
functioning of the sensor.
Switch to the “System parameters” image on the touchscreen, see point 2.3.5.
1. Bring all motors to basic position (top) by selecting UP rotational direction and moving the motors using the “Motor position all” key. Keep the key pressed until all pairs of slats have reached their end position.
2. Now press the “Initialise” key for 10 seconds
The distance sensors will now be initialised and the value 1150 will appear for all sensors
3. Press “Close” to exit the menu.
This concludes the start-up. You can now carry out measurements.

First measurement
The measuring bed may never be operated without a mattress!
When restarting, the system will initialise itself and will simultaneously move all pairs of slats to the neutral position, i.e. step 9 = highest step.
When the STREAM Motion has reached the neutral position, wait at least 10 seconds before carrying out the first measurement. This also applies to consecutive measurements, see reminder on screen step 9.
The program can be stopped at any time by cutting the power supply. However, you should wait at least 60 seconds before turning the power supply back on again.

The lying profile can be customised by manually adjusting the pairs of slats, from 1 (head) to 11 (foot), using the “+” and “–” keys. The 12th pair of slats always moves in tandem with pair 11, which is why it is not displayed on the screen.
Manual control of individual motors in step 7 may only be done incrementally. Before moving to the next step wait until the pair of slats has reached the respective step, otherwise incorrect grid spacing will result.
