Safety Precautions
Take the following precautions to keep the unit in proper working order:
Set up must be performed according to this manual.
Directed Electronics is not responsible for issues aris­ing from set up not performed according to the proce­dures in this manual.
Do not use the unit where it will be exposed to high lev-
els of humidity, moisture, or dust.
Setup
Note: Refer to the assembly diagram on the next page for the installation of the iPod cradle, insert pad, and iPod.
1. Remove, if installed, the Sportster from the docking cradle.
2. Remove the Sportster cradle from the Docking station by gently pushing the release tabs inward towards each other, and gently lifting the cradle out. If the cra­dle has been permanently attached to the docking sta­tion, remove the two small silver screws before remov­ing the cradle.
3. Install the iPod cradle into the Docking Station’s base by gently pushing it in until you hear the release tabs click.
4. Select the insert pad to use with your iPod. Install the insert pad into the iPod cradle. (Each insert pad’s usage is marked with the iPod model.)
5. Install your iPod into the cradle.
6. Remove the plastic battery slip from the remote control supplied with the iPod Cradle Kit. The battery compart­ment must be opened to remove this slip. The instruc­tions for opening the battery compartment are located on the back of the remote. The battery used is a 3.0V CR2025.

Remote Control
The remote control provides the capability of controlling the primary functions of the iPod as well as controlling the Desktop Docking Station and Sportster.
Note: Only the first two rows of buttons and volume but­tons will be discussed in this manual. The other buttons are described in the manual provided with the Sportster.

POWER SYS - Turns the Desktop Dock base station On/Off.
Note: The Docking Station must be powered On for iPod operation. See below for details on turning the iPod unit On and Off when docked.
SOURCE - Selects MAIN, AUX1, or AUX2 inputs. Use MAIN for iPod use.
MUTE - Mutes the internal amplifier of the Docking Station. CLOCK - Allows the clock to be set. The power must be
turned Off to the Desktop docking station, using either the Power On/Off button on the Docking Station or the power button on the remote control. Press the Clock button, the time will flash to indicate time adjustment mode. Use the Volume buttons to adjust the time. The VOL
S button
adjusts the hour setting and the VOL T button adjusts the minutes setting. Press the Clock button again to set the time to the new setting.
iPod OFF - Turns iPod off. iPod powers up automatically when play X, forward , or reverse is pressed.
- Press to select the previous music track. Press and
hold to fast reverse the selection.
X- Press to resume the playing last music track playing.
Press again to pause the music track.
- Press to select the next music track. Press and hold to
fast forward the selection.

VOL S - Increases the volume level of the Docking station
and provides time (hour) adjustment of the Docking station’s clock.

T - Decreases the volume level of the Docking station
and provides time (minute) adjustment of the Docking sta­tion’s clock
Basic Operation
Pressing the Power Button will turn the Desktop Station on and off. It controls the power independently from the Sportster or Music Device in the Docking Cradle.
iPod 30-pin connector
The iPod cradle also has an 30-pin connection on top of the cradle (refer to assembly illustration) to allow a computer connection for data/music upload to the docked iPod. Reference your iPod user guide for how to connect the cable to the PC.
iPod Battery Charging
If the iPod is docked and the power is On to the Docking Station, the iPod’s battery will be charged. Reference your iPod user guide for additional charging information.
Troubleshooting
If the docked iPod will not play or respond to commands from the remote control:
1. Verify that the cradle is securely latched into the Executive Docking Station.
2. Are you using the correct insert pad for the iPod being docked.
3. Verify that the iPod is securely connected to the cradle.
4. Has the plastic protective battery slip been removed from the remote?
5. Check and, if necessary, replace the battery in the remote.
6. Verify that the power is On to both the Docking Station and the iPod.
7. If there is no audio from the Docking Station, ensure that the Mute is Off, the Source is set to MAIN, and the volume control is adjusted up.

Limited One Year Consumer Warranty
Directed Electronics (herein "DIRECTED") promises to the original purchaser, to replace this product should it prove to be defective in workmanship or material under normal use, for a period of one-year from the date of purchase from the dealer as indicated by the date code marking of the product. During this one-year period, there will be no charge for this replacement PROVIDED the unit is returned to DIRECTED, shipping pre-paid. This warranty is non-transferable and does not apply to any unit that has been modified or used in a manner contrary to its intended purpose, and does not cover damage to the unit caused by installation or removal of the unit. This warranty is void if the product has been dam­aged by accident or unreasonable use, neglect, improper service or other causes not arising out of defects in materi­als or construction. Units which are found to be damaged by abuse resulting in thermally damaged voice coils are not covered by this warranty but may be replaced at the absolute/sole discretion of DIRECTED. ALL WARRANTIES,
