1.0 Introduction

Thank you for buying our 7.1 Surround Sound PCI Sound Card! Your professional solution
for audio performance with your computer and digital Audio workstation software. This
manual will help you install it properly.

5.0 Hardware installation

It is recommended that you remove any previously installed sound card and drivers prior
to installing this 7.1 Channel PCI Sound Card to avoid any conflicts. If previously installed
drivers are not removed, this 7.1 Channel PCI Sound Card perhaps not function properly.
(Note: If your computer has on-board sound you will need to disable it on the motherboard.
For more information please see your computer’s documentation or contact your
computer’s manufacturer.)

Otherwise, before installing the device, please ensure turning off your computer and
unplug the power cord to prevent damage to the devices and the system components.

To install the sound card .please follow the steps below:

1. Disconnect your computer from the power source

2. Open the computer case

3. Locate an available PCI slot on your computer, and insert this 7.1Channel PCI Sound
Card into the slot.

4. Fasten the card to the case using a screw

5. Close the computer case; plug the peripherals into the corresponding jack of the sound

card (according to the picture below):

A: MIC In Connect your microphone here
B: Line In Connect to tape/CD/DVD player,

or other audio sources for output mixing and/or recording
C: Front Connect 7.1 front speakers here
D: Surround Connect to Surround speakers while in 4/6/8 channel modes

(via external amplifier)
E: CER/LFE Connect to Center/Bass speakers while in 6/8 channel modes
(via external amplifier)
F: Rear Connect to Rear speakers while in 8 channel mode
(via external amplifier)
G: ODT out Connect S/PDIF digital device

Please refer to the audio configuration table for the function of the audio ports in 2, 4, 6,
8-channel configuration.

6.0 Software Installation

1. Start your PC, place the Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive and then you will find a file

as below to support different system.
 For Windows

Type “CMI8768\WIN2000,XP
\PCI-8768-090109-8.17.33(XP3264-LO-01)\Setup.exe”, click OK.

 For Windows

Vista(32 or 64bit)
Type “CMI8768\ Vista (32,64) \

 For Windows® Win7(32 or 64bit)

Type “CMI8768\ WIN7 (32,64) \

Type “CMI8768\ win8 (32,64) \ win8\Setup.exe”

2. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the software installation.

3. Restart your system

4. Once you have rebooted the computer, this 7.1 Channel PCI Sound card is ready to be
used.

7.0 Safety Guide

1. This Sound Card has many precision electronic components which can be damaged
by unwanted electrical energy from many different sources. Do not take it out of the
Static Shielding bag unless you want to start the installation.

2. When using the sound card from the shielding bag, it is better to use antistatic gloves
to prevent damage to the electronic assemblies and components.

3. Place the computer system on a stable surface to prevent improper installation and
minimize movement, and please make sure all the screws or other metal parts are
installed properly.
