Replacing the Fan Tray
Introduction
This document de scrib es how to replac e the fa n tray a ssemb ly in the GIGAswitc h/Eth ernet sys tem , and ch eck that
its fans are operational. All fans in the fan tray must be operational to ensur e proper cooling in the system. For
inform tion about checking the system’s temperature, refer to the DIGITAL GIGAswitch/Ethernet System
Installation and Operation Guide.
Installation Proce du re
All GIGAswitch/Eth ernet modul es are hot swappa ble. You do not ne ed to shut down the sw itch when chang ing the
fan tray. To install a fan tray into the switch chassis, complete the following steps:

Carefully remove the fan tray assembly from its packaging.
Loos en th e bl ac k c ap t iv e screws on th e cur r e nt ly in s t al l ed fa n tr a y, then re m ov e the fan tr ay
assembly from the sy stem.
Insert the new fan tray into the syste m as shown bel ow:
Make sure that the fan tray is seated firmly, with the captive screws tightened.

Verifying the Installation
To verify the installation, complete the following steps:

Launch th e w eb ag en t. (Refer to th e DIGITAL GIGAswitch/Ethernet System Installation and
Operation Guide or Quick Start for details on using the web agent.)
From the menu on the left side of th e web browser, select Cooling System. The display lists the
newly added fan’s status as “Operational.”
