If battery indicator turns on, battery life is approximately 8 to 10 hours. The battery indicator will start blinking with less than 1 hour of life remaining.
AT THIS POINT , BATTERY MUST BE CHANGED . IF BA TTER Y VOL T AGE GOES TOO LOW , DISPLA Y WILL GO BLANK.
See SPECIFICATIONS f or battery type.
1. Before changing battery , turn instrument off and disconnect probe.
2. Loosen screw and lift battery cover off back of case.
3. Remov e the two AA batteries.
4. Insert two new batteries, observing polarity .
5. Install cov er and tighten screw .
AC ADAPTER
An optional AC adapter can be used f or po w er to conserve batteries. The adapter is not a charger and will not charge batteries. The adapter connects to the bottom of the thermometer. When the adapter is connected, the batteries are disconnected. Refer to the ACCESSORIES section for adapter information.

CONNECTING A THERMISTOR
Use either a 400 series or 700 series ther mistor with your instrument. Be sure your instrument setting matches the thermistor, using an incorrect thermistor type will result in erroneous readings. (Series 500 thermistor probes may be used along with the supplied correction chart to convert meter readings to actual temperature.)
T o change between 400 and 700 series thermistors, see Selecting Thermistor Series on page 14.
Insert the 1/4 in plug into the mating connector on the top of the instrument.
