INITIAL INSPECTION

1.Upon receiving, examine the unit for external damage.

2.Check to be sure the intake filter and the cabinet air filter are in place.

3.Plug the unit into an electrical outlet, turn the unit ‘On,’ and check the audible/visual alarms.

4.Set the flow meter at the maximum recommended flow rate and allow the unit to run for 20 minutes.

5.Using an oxygen analyzer, check the concentration.

6.With unit still running, unplug to test the power fail alarm.

BETWEEN-PATIENT MAINTENANCE

In case of a change of patient, the device must be reconditioned to protect the user. Reconditioning must only be carried out by the manufacturer or service provider.

DeVilbiss Healthcare recommends the following as minimum between-patient maintenance. If the unit is due for periodic provider maintenance, those items should be completed in addition to the list below.

1.Discard oxygen tubing, cannula/mask, oxygen outlet connector, and humidifier bottle.

2.Replace cabinet air filter.

3.Clean the concentrator cabinet.

4.Inspect all plugs, cords, and components. Replace any damaged or worn components.

5.Check oxygen concentration. If the unit falls within specification, the extended life intake bacteria filter does not need to be replaced between patients. If the concentration is not within specification, refer to troubleshooting.

6.If the device has been exposed to contagious pathogens, it should be discarded.

PATIENT/CAREGIVER MAINTENANCE

1.Clean and replace oxygen tubing, cannula/mask, and humidifier bottle (if used) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
