Remove all packing material placed inside heater. Remove lower front panel screws and lift front panel
up and out. Remove corrugated fiberboard from around grill and glass and follow installation procedures
in owner’s manual.
If your heater is a thermostat model, please refer to the owner’s manual for proper installation of the
thermostat sensing bulb.
Note:
A slight odor may occur when the heater is first operated. This odor will go away after a few hours
of operation.
Commonly Asked Questions About Your Vent-Free Heater.
QUESTION Can I change the heater from propane to natural gas or vice versa?
ANSWER No. You must use your heater with the gas type listed on the heater nameplate. If the gas
type on the heater nameplate and the gas type you are using do not match, do not install
heater. Contact dealer where you bought heater. Get the correct heater for the gas type
you are using.
QUESTION Should I keep my owner’s manual?
ANSWER Yes. Always keep the owner’s manual close by for reference. It also contains parts lists,
phone numbers, etc. for servicing the heater. If the heater ever needs to be transported for
cleaning or servicing, it is also a good idea to keep the carton and packing material.
QUESTION Can I install my heater as a fireplace insert or in an alcove?
ANSWER No. Always follow the manufacturer’s minimum clearances in the owner’s manual. The
clearances listed in the owner’s manual are minimum distances allowed. You may use
greater distances if desired.
QUESTION Do I need to provide fresh air ventilation?
ANSWER Yes. Provide approximately 1 square inch of fresh, outside air for every 1000 BTU/Hr
rating.
QUESTION Do I need to check for leaks inside the heater cabinet?
ANSWER Yes. Check for leaks on all internal and external fittings. Never use an open flame to
check for a leak. Apply a mixture of liquid soap and water to all fittings. Bubbles forming
show a leak. Correct all leaks at once.
QUESTION Is my heater covered under warranty?
ANSWER Yes. Warranty statements are on the back page of the owner’s manual.
QUESTION What kind of maintenance do I need to perform to keep my heater working properly?
ANSWER Your new vent-free heater is of the finest materials and quality. Every year before the
heating season starts you should have a professional service person inspect the heater.
