RIST SUPPORT
The mBrace™ wrist support provides a stable
platform and consistent wrist extension angle
for conveniently achieving radial artery
access.
The flat front edge of the non-sterile
•
mBrace helps prevent rolling and provides
a stable platform to support the wrist.
The 40º extension angle provides a
•
consistent wrist extension from one patient
to the next.
Wrapping the hand strap around the
•
thumb helps prevent hand pronation to
properly present the radial artery and
wrist.
•
The straps enable easy, comfortable
adjustment to accommodate virtually any
size of hand.

The mBrace can be used for extending the wrist to
40º when inserting lines or catheters in the radial
artery or other arteries in the wrist. A foam pad
is included for optionally padding the hand or
increasing the angle of extension. Use care when
applying to the patient, in accordance with institutional protocol.
1. Place the hand onto the mBrace with the
wrist at the apex of the brace. The hand
should be placed on the larger side of the
mBrace - note "Fingers" imprinted on the
front edge of the plastic mBrace frame.
2. Wrap the arm strap snugly around the
patient’s forearm.
3. Wrap the hand strap over the hand and snugly
around the patient’s thumb to prevent hand
pronation. Alternatively the strap can be
wrapped only around the palm of the
patient’s hand.
4. The straps should fit snugly around the hand
and forearm. Fasten the strap tips to the Velcro
strips on the underside of the mBrace.
5. mBrace is now secured onto the patient’s
hand, which may then be secured to an
armboard or the procedure table as per
institutional practice.
6. Pull the strap tips away from the Velcro
fastening strips to remove the mBrace
from the patient.
