INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. PARTS
A. Blend center assembly. B. 2 pcs. 3/8"ID x 8ft. long vinyl supply tubing, foot valve and ceramic weight. C. 1 pc. 1 /2"ID x 10ft. long vinyl outlet tubing. D. 2 pcs. #10 Phillips head 3/4 " long mounting sc rews & anchor s. E. 1 pc. label card. F. Metering tip kit.
2. INSTALLATION Note: All installations must conform with local plumbing codes and use approved backflow preventers.
A. Mounting and water supply
:
:
:
Use mounting template enclosed to locate the mounting screw positions. Drill all of the holes into the drywall usi ng a 1/4” di am ete r bit for use with the included #10 screw and anchor set. (If mounting the Blend Safe to wood and you do not plan to use the in clu ded anchors, drill 1/8” diameter holes.) Insert the anchors into drilled holes and hammer them into the wall until they are f lu sh wi th f ace of wall. Assemble all of the #10 screws with a phillips screwdriver into the anchors so the screw h eads are sticking o ut of the wall appr oximately ½”. Mount the Blend S afe by inserting the screw heads through the keyhole slots in the base and tightening the screws.
The water inlet is equipped with a female garden hose fitting (with strainer washer) for attaching a water supply hose. The w ater inlet may be removed to permit direct connection to a 3/8" NPT pipe. The unit is designed so water can be supplie d t o e it her sid e by interchanging the pipe plug with the water inlet assembly.
Note: Apply pipe dope, hand tighten, then turn 1 ½ times with a wrench. Do not over tighten. WARNIN G: Do not use Teflon® tape to seal internal plastic threads as the extra thickness of the tape may cause the
plastic to crack. Use a non-welding liquid sealant instead.
B. Chemical supply
Place the chemical containers in a conveni ent location no t more than 6 feet below the blend cent er (greater lift s wi ll re du ce in je ct io n capacities) . Insert the vinyl supply tubing with the foot valve ends into the chemical containers. Cut the vinyl tubes to any convenient length that will allow them to extend from the bottom of the chemical container to the proportioner inlet barbs. (See figure 1). Gummed labels are provided for product labeling.
C. Outlet
D. Chemical injection adjustment
:
Cut the 1/2 "ID outlet tubing to the desired lengths and attach them to the proportioner outlets; model 681-2 with the standard 4 GPM flow rate proportioners - Do not cut tubing to less than 18" long to insure priming. Longer lengths may be used up to 10 fe et. Models with the optional 1 GPM proportioners may use tubing cut to any length.
WARNING: USE CARE WHEN HANDLING HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS.
Chemical feed rates are controlled by metering tips screwed into the proportioners barbs. Select a tip for e ach ba rb u si ng Ta ble 1 o r 2 as a guide.

1 cps (centipoise) is equal to the viscosity of water 75 cps is approximately equal to the viscosity of 10 weight motor oil 200 cps is approximat ely equal to t he viscosity of most dishwashing deterge nts

3. OPERATION
The Blend Center is now ready for use. Depressing a push button opens the valve, allowing water to flow through the chemical proportioner that mixes chemical at the desired rate. The buttons are spring loaded to prevent accidental overflow if unattended, but may be converted to locking buttons by cutting off the tab at the notch. (See Figure 2). Pushing the button and tubing it 1/4 turn clockwise at the end of its travel allows the valve to lock on. This makes it unnecessary for the attendant to hold the button in while filling large containers. turning the button in a counter clockwise direction will release it, allowing the valve to shut off.
:
4. SERVICING CAUTION: TURN OF F WATER SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING. A. Proportioner fails to draw chemical
1. Proportioner outlet tubing is cut too short for priming. Pinch outlet tube to create back pressure which wil l cause unit to prime.
2. Insufficient water supply pr essure. 20 PSI is the minimum allowable.
B. Proportioner stops drawing chemical
1. Inspect foot valve for dried chemical or dirt. Soak in hot water to clean.
2. Prop ortioner metering tip clogged with dr ied chemical. Remove tip and tr y injecting hot water to clear interior passages.
C. Proport ioner continues to draw chemical after water va lve closes
Chemical supply is higher than bottom of discharge tube creating a natural siphon. Lower the chemical supply or hang up outlet tubing after use.
D. Valve malfunction
Check that the button moves freely up & down and that a "click" can be heard when the button is pushed and released, indicating that the magnet is activating the plunger properly. Remove cover. To inspect internal parts, unscrew magnet housing and ca ref ul ly pull off the enclosing tube so as not to drop the plunger, kick-off spring, and spacer. Check for dirt of damage impending plunger and kick-off spring movement. Inspect the diaphragm, making sure the two small pin holes (bleed holes) in the diaphragm convolution are clear to allow the valve to close.
CAUTION: When servicing unit, be sure that replacement parts have been installed according to drawing.
:
:
The foot valve will keep the inlet tube primed thereafter.
