2. INSTALLATION
A. Mounting and water supply:
Remove Blend Center lid and hold unit in pos ition to locate the mounting screw p ositions. Install the mounting scr ews; leaving
approximately 1/8" extension between the wall and screw head. Mount the Blend Center by inserti ng the scre w head s t hrou gh th e k ey
hole slots in the b ase a nd tighten the s cr ews ( See Figure 1 ). T he water inlet is eq uipp ed with a female garden hose fitting (with
strainer washer) for attaching a water supply hose. The f itting m ay be removed to permit direct conn ection to a 3/8" NPT pipe. Th e
unit is designed so water can be supplied to either side by interchanging the pipe plug and the female hose fitting. Note: Apply pipe
dope, hand tighten, and then turn 10 times with a wrench. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
B. Chemical supply
Place the chemical container in a convenient location not more than 6 f eet below the blend center (greater lifts wil l reduce injection
capacities). Insert the vinyl supply tubing with the foot valve end into the chemical container. Cut the vinyl tube to any convenient
length that will allow it to extend from the bottom of the chemical container to the proportioner inlet barb. (See Figure 1) Gummed
labels are provided for product labeling.
C. Outlet
D. Chemical injection adjustment
:
Cut the 1/2"ID outlet tubing to the desired length and attach it to the proportioner outlet; model 681-1 with the standard 4 GPM f lo w
rate proportioner - do not cut tubing to less than 18" long to insure priming. Longer lengths may be used up to 10 feet. Models with
the optional 1 GPM proportioners may use tubing cut to any length.
The chemical feed rate is controlled by a metering tip screwed int o the proportioner barb. Select a tip using Table 1 or 2 as a guide.
1 cps (centipoise) is equal to the viscosity of water
75 cps is approximately equal to the viscosity of 10 weight motor oil
200 cps is approxim ately equal to the visco sity of most dishwashing detergents
: Note: All installations must conform to local plumbing codes and use approved backflow preventers.
:
: WARNING: USE CARE WHEN HANDLING HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS.
3. OPERATION
The Blend Cente r is now ready for use. Dep ressi ng the push b utton opens t he valve, allowing water t o flow through the chemical
proportioner that mixes chemical at the desired rate. The button is spring loaded to prevent accidental ov erf low i f una tte nd ed, but ma y be
converted to a locking button by cutting off the tab at the notch. (See Figure 2) Pushing the button and turning it 1/4 turn clockwise at
the end of its tr avel allows the va lve to lock on. This makes it unneces sa r y for the attendant to hold the button in while filling large
containers. Turning the button in a counterclockwise direction will release it, allowing the valve to shut off.
:
4. SERVICING:
CAUTION: TURN OF F WATER SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING.
A. Proportioner fails to draw chemical
1. Propor tioner outlet tub ing is cut too shor t for pr iming. Pinch outlet tube to create back pressur e which will cause unit to
prime. The foot valve will keep the inlet tube primed thereafter.
2. Insufficient water supply pressure. 20 PSI is the minimum allowable.
B. Proportioner stops drawing chemical
1. Inspect foot valve for dried chemical or dirt. Soak in hot water to clean.
2. Proportioner metering tip clogged with dried chemical. Remove tip and try injecting hot water to clear interior passages.
C. Proportioner continues to draw chemical after water valve closes
creating a natural siphon. Lower the chemical supply or hang up outlet tubing after use.

and released, indicating that the magnet is activating the plunger properly. Remove cover. To inspect internal parts, unscrew
magnet housing and carefully pull off the enclosing tube so as not to drop the plunger, kick-off spring, and spa ce r. Che ck fo r d irt

holes) in the diaphragm convolution are clear to allow the valve to close.
CAUTION: When servicing unit, be sure that replacement parts have been installed according to drawing.
: Check that the button moves freely up & down and that a "click" can be heard when the button is pushed
