INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) PARTS:
A. Blend Safe. B. 1/4" ID x 19" Lg. Vinyl Supply Tubing, Foot Valve & Ceramic Weight. C. Keys. D. #8 Pan Head Mounting Screws & Anchors. E. Label Card. F. Drip Tray. G. Metering Tip Kit. H. 6 ft. Outlet Tubing (Optional 4 gpm only).
2) INSTALLATION: (Refer to Figure 1) Note: All installations must conform with local plumbing codes and use a ppr oved backflow preventers. Pressure indic ating tee i s to be instal l with e xisting fauce ts accordi ng to local pl umbing codes in the state of Wisconsin and any other state tha t requires the use of a pressure indicating tee.
A. MOUNTING AND WATER SUPPLY:
Hold the unit in position to locate the mounting screw positions at the top & bottom. Install the mounting screws at the top, leaving appr oximately 1/ 8 " extension between the wall and screw head . Mount the Blend Safe by inserting the screw head s through the key hole slots in the top and tightening the screws (See Figure 1). Now insert and tighten the screws in the bottom.
The wat er inl et is eq ui p ped wi th a fema l e gar d en h ose fit ting ( wit h str ain er wash er ) for at ta chin g a wat er sup ply h ose. Th e fitting may be removed to permit direct connection to a 3/8" NPT pipe. The unit is designed so water can be supplied to either side by interchanging the pipe plug with the pipe and female hose fitting.
B. PRESSURE INDICATING TEE INST ALLATION:
Screw female quick disconnect to faucet and attach pressure indicating tee to female quick disconnect. Attach female end of rein forced h ose to mal e threa ds of tee, t hen a ttach th e male en d to th e female g arden h ose fitt ing at the water inlet of the Blend Center (See Figure 3). Water supply should not exceed 125 psi and water temperature must not exceed 160°F.
C. CHEMICAL INJECTION ADJUSTMENT: Warning: Use care when handli ng hazar dous chemicals.
Chemical feed rates are controlled by metering tips screwed into the proportioner barb. Select a tip using Table 1 or 2 as a guide. Note: 1 cps (centipoise) is equal to the viscosity of water, 75 cps is approximately equal to the viscosity of 10 w eight motor oil, and 200 cps is approximately equal to the viscosity of most dish washing detergents.
D. CHEMICAL SUPPLY:
Install the chemical supply
tubing by pushing the tubing over the barb of the proportioner. The proportioner is accessible through the case door (Refer to Figure 1). Push the tubing thru the slots in the cover. Place the chemical container inside the case a n d in sert th e foot val ve a n d cer am ic wei gh t end of th e ch emi ca l su pply tu bin g in to th e ch em i cal con t ain er. Peel off g ummed labels are provided for labeling chemical s.

Leaner dilutions can be achieved by ordering DEMA ultra lean tip kit 100-15KU.
E. DRIP TRAY:
The Drip Tray is installed by simply sliding the tray flange under the tabs on the bottom of the case. Lower the tray allowing tray dimples to fall into the receptor holes.

3) OPERATION
The Blend Safe is now ready for use. Depressing a push button opens the valve allowing water to flow through the chemical propor tioner that mixes a chemical wa ter soluti on at the desi red rat e. The button s are sprin g loaded t o prevent accidental overflow if unattended, but may be converted to locking buttons by cutting off the tab at the notch (See Figure 2). Pushing the button and turning it a 1/4 turn clockwise at the end of its travel allows the valve to lock on. This makes it unnecessary for the attendant to hold the button in while filling large containers. Turning the button in a counter clockwise direction will release it, allowing the val ve to sh ut off.
4) SERVICING: Caution: Turn off water supply before servicing.
A. Proportioner fails to draw chemical:
Insufficient water supply pressure. 20 PSI is the minimum allowable pressure.
B. Proportioner stops drawing chemical:
1) Inspect foot valve f or dried ch emical or dirt. Soak in hot wa ter to clean.
2) Proportioner metering tip clogged with dried chemical. Remove tip and try injecting in hot water. If there is no suction, remover proportioner and soak in hot water to clear interior passages.
C. Valve Malfunction:
Check that th e button moves fr eely in & out an d that a "click" can be h eard when th e button is push ed and r eleased, indi cating that the magnet is activating the plun g er properly. Remove cover. To inspect internal parts, unscrew ma gnet housing and carefully pull off the enclosing tube so as not to drop the plunger, kick-off spring, and spacer. Check for dirt or damage impending plunger and kick-off spring movement. Inspect the diaphragm, making sure the two small pin holes (bleed hole) in the diaphrag m convolution are clear to allow the valve to cl ose.
Caution: When servicing unit, be sure that replacement parts have been installed according to drawing.
RETURNS: NO MERCHANDISE MAY BE RETURNED FOR CREDIT WITHOUT DEMA’S WRITTEN
PERMISSION. RETURN MERCHANDISE AUTHORIZATION NUMBER REQUIRED IN ADVANCE OF RETURN.
