DEMA MODEL 163CH HIGH CAPACITY PROPORTIONER
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. PARTS
1 pc. Pro portioner assembly
1 pc. Supply tubing with foot valve, and ceramic weight
1 pc. Outlet tubing (3 ft. long)
2 pc. Metering Tip (61-9)
2. INSTALLATION
Screw proportioner onto garden hose outlet or faucet. Attach open end of tubing with f oot valve to proportioner inlet barb. (Tubing
may be cut to any convenient length. Soften end in hot water for easy attachment). Attach the 3 ft. length of tubing to the propo rtio ne r
outlet. This tubing must remain attached or proportioner will not draw. Drop foot valve and tubing into chemical container and use
protector disc to hold in place.
3. OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: USE CARE WHEN HANDLING HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS.
Turn on water. Chemical siphoning will be gin as s oon as the outle t tubing fills with water. A metering tip is us ed to p r ovide the
desired feed rate. Tips are identified by color. Proportions for various viscosities are listed on the Metering Tip Chart (page 2).
4. SERVICING
CAUTION: TURN OF F WATER SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING.
A. Failure to inject chemical.
1. Low water pressure. At least 10 psi. is required.
2. Disc harge tubing missing or not filling. Bend end or immerse in pail.
3. Dete rgent passage clogged. Remove proportioner and soak in hot water to clean internal passages.
4. Foot valve clogged. Clean.
B. Injection continues after water is turned off.
Discharge tubing is below drum level. Raise outlet tubing to stop siphoning or re-arrange installation such that drum is below
outlet tubing.
CAUTION: WHEN SERVICING UNIT BE SURE THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED
ACCORDING TO DRAWING.

WARRANTY: DEMA products are warranted against defective material and wo rkm an ship u nd er n orm al use and serv ic e
for one year from the date of manufacture. This limited warranty does not apply to any products which
have a normal life shorter than one year or failure and damage caused by chemicals, corrosion, i mpro per
voltage supply, physical abuse, or misapplication. Rubber and synthetic rubber parts such as “o”- rin gs,
diaphragms, squeeze tubing and gaskets are considered expendable and are not covered under w ar ranty .
This warra nty is ext ended only to t he original buyer of DEMA products. If p roducts are alt ered or
repaired without prior approval of DEMA, this warranty will be void.
Defective units or part s should b e returned to the fact ory with transp ortat ion prepaid. If ins pection
shows them to be defective, they will be repaired or replaced without charge, F.O.B . factory. DEMA
assumes no liability for damages. Return merchandise authorization number, to retu rn uni ts fo r re pair or
replacement, must be granted in advance of return.

Note: All induction rates are based on a water pressure of 40 psi.
* These tips are not included in the standard tip pack.
- 1 cps (centipoise) is equal to the viscosity of water, 75 cps is approximately equal to the viscosity of 10 weight motor oil, and 200
cps is approx imately equal to the viscosity of most dishwashing detergents.
- Injection rate can be doubled with no tip by using 1/2 in. I.D. inlet tubing. Use a short piece o f 3/8 in. I.D. tubing on prop ortioner
and foot valve barbs for a bushing.
