Safety Features
The soup maker is fitted with several safety features including an interlocking lid cut-out, a minimum liquid sensor, a hot liquid overflow sensor and a tilt detector safety micro-switch cut-off in the motor base unit.
Before use
Before using the Soup Maker for the first time wipe all the external surfaces thoroughly with a cloth
dampened in a mild detergent. Wash the INSIDE of the jug using warm soapy water. Use the brush provided to clean around the blade. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Warning: DO NOT IMMERSE the jug in water as the base of the jug contains electrical
components. Caution: the jug contains very sharp blades and should be handled with care at all times.
Now add your ingredients. If you are boiling or steaming eggs you will need to place the Egg
Steamer in first.
Place the base unit of soup maker on a heat-resistant, stable surface. Carefully position the jug on
the base unit aligning the connections in the base of the jug handle with those in the base unit. The jug should sit securely and squarely on top of the base unit.
Fit the lid to the soup maker jug by rotating clockwise until the ‘lock’ decal and arrow on the lid
align with the arrow the top of the handle, the lid will click once fully aligned and lock.
Ensure the measuring cup stopper is fitted to the chute in the centre of the top of the lid by
pushing home.
Using your Soup Maker
Once everything is positioned correctly, connect the soup maker to the nearest mains power supply
socket and press the ON/OFF button to power up your Soup maker.
Note: If at this point the alarm sounds, disconnect the soup maker from the mains power supply and check that the lid and jug are properly fitted and the fluid level is correct as described in trouble shooting chart. Once the problem is corrected, reconnect to the mains and power up.
After pressing the “ON/OFF” button the indicators flash to confirm power up, the next stage is to
choose the type of cooking mode (see below), once selected, the soup maker will beep once indicating that cooking process has started. Making smooth soup will take around 21 minutes while chunky soup takes around 20 minutes.
Once cooking or blending is completed, the soup maker will beep for several seconds and the
indicators will blink.
To completely stop the programme at any time, simply press the ON/OFF button. Your soup can be poured straight from the jug but be careful when removing the lid from the jug as
it and the contents will be very hot and steam may escape.
WARNING: heat/steam will be emitted from the lid. Care must be taken when removing the lid and
food chute.

Control Panel Buttons
Control Panel Button operation:
1. ON/OFF:
Press the “ON/OFF” button to put the machine into STANDBY status – indicators will blink.
2. PULSE:
Press and hold the button to “Pulse” blend, release the button to stop.
3. STEAM: Ensure the Egg Steamer is in place (see main diagram of the Soup Maker). Fill the jug with
water until the level is between the WATER MIN and STEAM MAX, place the food to be steamed on the Egg Steamer, it takes approximately 15 minutes to cook.
4. BOILING: Ensure the Egg Steamer is in place (see main diagram of the Soup Maker). Fill the jug with
water until the level is between the WATER MIN and BOIL MAX mark, place the food to be boiled on the Egg Steamer, it takes approximately 15 minutes to cook.
5. SOUP SMOOTH or SOUP CHUNKY:
Making soup (making soup from Hard or soft food) Chop the ingredients into approximately 2-3cm cubes and add to the soup maker jug. Caution: Do not use uncooked meats in the soup maker - any meat or fish used must be precooked. Do not add any frozen ingredients - all ingredients must be at room temperature.
Using the inner stainless steel filter The Filter is divided into two inner section halves, one half is for making Smoothies such as soymilk, porridge or mixing food, the other half of the filter is for making more chunky food blends.

To determine which way up the filter is inserted: For Chunky food blends, place the filter vertically inside such that it fits over the ‘ring’ around the blades in the base of the jug, ensuring that the end with the larger, coarser holes is facing downwards (i.e. nearer the blades). Ensure that the filter is vertical and flat against the bottom before fitting the lid. For a Smooth blend, place the filter vertically inside such that it fits over the ‘ring’ around the blades in the base of the jug, ensuring that the end with the smaller, finer holes is facing downwards (i.e. nearer the blades). Ensure that the filter is vertical and flat against the bottom before fitting the lid.
Add your preferred mixture to the jug; all liquids and stocks used must be at room temperature rather than warm or hot. Note: When using the filter, it is recommended that the lid is fitted before adding any ingredients and the ingredients then added through the chute in the centre of the lid. However, ensure the measuring cup stopper is re-fitted before the Soup Maker is started. All liquids used must be at room temperature rather than warm or hot.
6. REHEAT: Previously prepared soup can be reheated in the soup maker.
Simply set up the soup maker as previously described and add the cooked soup to the jug ensuring the volume of soup is no less than the minimum and no more than the maximum. Connect the soup maker to the mains power supply and press the ON/OFF button. Ensure the lid and measuring cup stopper are correctly fitted and press the reheat button. The reheat programme will follow the sequence below: Heating-Mixing- Heating-Mixing-Heating This process will continue to follow this cycle until the soup is heated and reaches the optimum temperature of 65°C -75°C and ready to serve. The audible alarm will then sound. The time taken to complete this process will depend on the temperature and volume of the soup added but should take approximately 8-12 minutes.
Note: the reheat process is not a cooking function; all soups used in this process must be precooked. It is not necessary to fit the filter when reheating previously cooked soups / foods.
7. BLENDER: The soup maker can also be used as a blender; simply set up the soup maker as before and
add your ingredients for blending. Note: it is important that your ingredients reach a minimum depth of 3-4cm so that the safety cutout sensor does not activate, but no more than the MAXIMUM level. It is NOT possible to blend dry ingredients, as the sensor won’t recognise them. Connect the soup maker to the mains power supply and press the ON/OFF button. Make sure the lid and measuring cup stopper are correctly fitted and press the blend button to start the BLENDER programme. The blend cycle is a repeated 15 seconds high-speed blend with a slight rest. To stop the cycle press the BLENDER button again, or press the ON/OFF button.
Minimum and Maximum levels:

08
Make sure the total volume of ingredients added exceeds the minimum level mark but is not more than 1700ml as a maximum. The internal sensor near the base of the jug must be covered with liquid otherwise under filling the soup maker jug will result in the alarm sounding and the unit failing to operate. However, overfilling will cause the hot contents (which will expand during the cooking process) to reach the lid when boiling, in which case the upper sensor will switch off the heating function to help prevent boiling over.
WARNING: Food with high starch or sugar content will easily burn on the bottom if the level is allowed to drop below the minimum or it is allowed to boil dry.
The typical cooking time for a programme containing ingredients stored at a room temperature of 18C is approximately 25-30 minutes.
Note: the above sequence relies on uninterrupted operation. Any interruption will result in the cancellation of the programme. Restarting will result in the cooking being repeated which may affect the final results. Unlocking and removing the lid will stop the programme also. Any ingredients to be added during the cooking process can be added through the food chute in the centre of the lid.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Do not clean any part of the soup maker in a dishwasher. Always disconnect the soup maker from the mains power supply and allow to cool before cleaning. Do not immerse the soup makerbase unit, power cord and plug or the jug in water or any other liquids. Clean the surface of the base unit and the outer of the jug with a soft, damp cloth. Wash the Measuring Cup, Jug Cover, Egg Steamer and Filter in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly. To clean the inside of the jug, rinse to remove any remaining soup or large food particles. Half fill the jug with warm soapy water and then using the supplied brush remove any food remains before rinsing again. Either allow the jug to dry naturally or dry using a soft cloth. TAKE CARE when drying around the blades as these are very sharp. Caution: the blades inside the jug are not removable and are very sharp; extreme caution should be taken when cleaning the inside of the jug. Warning: DO NOT allow water to enter the electrical connections of the jug during cleaning.
Using the soup maker’s programmes to aid the removal of stubborn stains: Simply assemble the soup maker as previously described and add 800ml of water and a small amount of mild detergent. Fit the lid and switch the soup maker on. Press the BLENDER or PULSE buttons and the blades will rotate to clean the jug. You can stop the cleaning process at any time by switching off the appliance.

Alternatively, the soup making function can be used to loosen any stubborn stains. Add 800ml of water and a small amount of detergent and fit the lid. Press the soup-making button to start the programme to clean the jug. You can stop the cleaning process at any time by switching off the appliance.
Rinse the jug thoroughly after cleaning and allow to dry before re-assembly.
Troubleshooting
Symptom
Solution
The unit is not working and beeping
1. The jug is not fitted to the base correctly.
2. The lid is not fitted correctly.
3. There is not enough liquid in the jug.
4. There are some spills around the over-flow sensor.
The unit has stopped in mid-programme (during the operation)
1. The lid is loose.
2. Liquid level is too low due to evaporation
during cooking.
3. Liquid level is more than the maximum.
4. The jug is not correctly mounted on the base.
Ingredients pieces are still too large after cooking is completed (food is not blended well enough).
1. Pieces were possibly too large initially-use the
blend function after the cooking programme to reduce.
2. The wrong function was selected.
3. Not enough water added - add in sufficient
water.
The ingredients are hard after the cooking cycle.(food cooked not well)
1. Chop the ingredients into smaller pieces before adding.
2. The wrong soup cycle has been used for the volume added.
3. Too much water or food, filter is clogged.
4. Some food requires a longer cooking period: select the REHEAT function till food is fully cooked.
The soup is not hot and the cooking cycle appeared to finish early.
There was too much hot liquid in the jugmovement of the soup during cooking tripped the upper overflow sensor.
Food is burnt, and stuck to the bottom
1. Caused by high sugar, starch: Do not add
excessive amounts of sugar to your ingredients. Avoid including large amounts of ingredients that contain high starch levels
2. Too much food and/or too little liquid.
