Vacuum Breakers are required by many municipal governments to
protect the drinking water from being contaminated by water from
swimming pools, lavatory sinks, bath tubs, or toilets. It is an
atmospheric-type back flow preventer. The seating and unseating
of the diaphragm are accomplished by the presence or absense of
water pressure, when the unit is open to the atmosphere.
It is normal for the vacuum breaker to emit a small amount of water:
a) During the opening and closing of the shower control valve.
b) When used with a massage action, may emit water when
changing spray selection.
c) When used with a push button shower, water may emit out
of the unit when the shower is placed in the off position.
It is normal for the vacuum breaker to drain when it is placed lower
than the hand shower, and the water is shut off.
Assembly of Vacuum Breaker Model U4900/U4910
The following are typical vacuum breaker installations for shower arms and shower arm mount
assemblies. Deck installations are not covered by these instructions.
NOTE: The Vacuum Breaker requires the use of the included Stepped Washer. Insert the Stepped Washer
into the top of the Vacuum Breaker. The Washer is properly installed when the Step in the top of the Washer
is visible after installation and the Washer is fully seated in the top of the Vacuum Breaker. If the Washer is
installed with the Step not visible,
he Vacuum Breaker WILL NOT WORK.
Standard Shower Arm Installation:
CAUTION: Vacuum Breakers are
not to be used behind a panel,
wall or like construction since it
emits some water. It must be
installed a minimum 2 inches
above the flood rim of the tub or
fixture.

Les casse-vides sont requis par plusieurs autorités municipales
pour prévenir la contamination de l’eau potable en provenance
des piscines, lavabos, baignoires ou toilettes. Le casse-vide est
un dispositif de non-retour de type atmosphérique. La fermeture

et l’ouverture du diaphragme se font par la présence ou l’absence
de pression d’eau dans la ligne d’alimentation lorsqu’elle est
ouverte à l’atmosphère.
Il est normal pour le casse-vide de dégager une partie minime
d’eau :
a) Durant l’opération d’ouverture et de fermeture de la soupape
de commande de la douche.
b) Lorsqu’utilisé avec une douche multijet, l’eau peut
s’échapper lors du changement de mode.
c) Lors de la fermeture de la douche à l’aide d’un bouton-
poussoir, l’eau peut s’échapper hors de l’unité lorsque la
douche est en mode d’arrêt.
Il est normal pour le casse-vide de drainer l’eau lorsqu’il est situé
en dessous du niveau de la douchette à main et lorsque
l’alimentation d’eau est coupée.

Les schémas suivants illustrent les installations typiques d’un casse-vide pour les assemblages sur un bras
de douche et à un support pour douchette à main. Directives non incluses pour la pose sur comptoir.
REMARQUE : le casse-vide nécessite l’utilisation de la rondelle décolletée ci-incluse. Insérez cette
rondelle dans la partie supérieure du casse-vide. La rondelle est correctement installée lorsque la
marque du décolletage située en haut de la rondelle est visible après l’installation et que la rondelle est
bien insérée dans la partie supérieure du casse-vide. Si la marque du décolletage de la rondelle n’est
pas visible, le casse-vide NE FONCTIONNERA PAS.

Para proteger la red de agua portable de una posible contaminación ocasionada por el agua de albercas, lavabos,
tinas/regaderas o W.C., existen municipales que exigen el uso del
anti-sifón. Este anti-sifón previene el regreso de agua por medio
de un ajuste dell diafragma controlado por la presión de la misma.
Es normal que el anti-sifón emita un hilillo de agua:
a) Al abrir o cerrar las llaves de la regadera.
b) Al cambiar el flujo de la regadera, (masaje, spray etc.)
c) Si su regadera cuenta con botón de cerrado momentáno y
esté en la posición de cerrado.
También e normal que el anti-sifón emita un hilillo de agua cuando
esté colocado más bajo que la regedera de teléfono, y suminstro
de agua esté cerrado.
El Anti-Sifón Para Regaderas De Teléfono
Una continuación se muestran las instrucciones de instalación de anti-sifónes en el brazo de la regadaera y
en el soporte de brazo para la regadera de teléfono. No se incluyen instalaciones de otro tipo.
NOTA: La válvula rompevacío requiere el uso de la arandela escalonada incluida. Inserte la arandela
escalonada en la parte superior de la válvula rompevacío. La arandela está instalada adecuadamente si
después de la instalación puede verse el escalón de la parte superior de la arandela y si la arandela
queda asentada por completo en la parte superior de la válvula rompevacío. La válvula rompevacío NO
FUNCIONARÁ si la arandela se instala de manera que el escalón superior no pueda verse.
